A practical post-run meal is 40–60 grams of carbs (rice, pasta, toast, fruit) plus 10–20 grams of protein (yogurt, eggs, chicken) within 30 minutes of finishing.

What’s the Ideal Structure for Your Running Week With Doubles?

Doubles fit into a weekly structure, and they don’t replace thinking about the week as a whole.

Most runners shouldn’t run doubles every day.

Base-building weeks, when your long run and hard sessions are stable, work best.

This structure protects hard-session intensity because both hard-day runs are single efforts with full recovery, while easy days absorb the frequency stimulus of doubles.

The first run of a double should be genuinely easy, at true recovery-run pace rather than medium easy.

That preserves glycogen for the second run, which can carry a bit more purpose while staying easy by absolute standards.

Never place both runs at high intensity.
