Hopefully by this point you know that this podcast is a product of RunnersConnect. We give you blog posts with the information you really need to succeed, and our primary goal is coaching in a community setting. This week I’m joined by CEO and founder of RunnersConnect, Jeff Gaudette.
We kick off today’s episode by discussing Jeff’s life story. His struggles as an Elite runner will give you a totally new perspective on RunnersConnect.
Today’s topics include:
- Why Jeff loves the science behind running
- How to know if you’re running easy enough
- What makes RunnersConnect different from other online coaching programs
- Why he prefers online coaching to in-person training
- The science and truth behind your active rest day
- His current goals and where he he sees RunnersConnect going
- Confusing fatigue for weakness and ‘optimal aerobic development’
- Why he swapped over to strength training
Jeff started out running early in life, and went on to run track in college at Brown. He then moved to Michigan to run professionally, where he began coaching full-time and eventually transitioned into the online business world.
When it came to coaching, Jeff loved the challenge of figuring out how he was going to attack that person’s training plan so they could have success, regardless of how much they had going on.
One thing he really started to notice with himself and his other coaches on staff is that there were a lot of common questions and situations that were really difficult to communicate.
He eventually found himself constantly wanting to connect his clients so they could sympathize and understand each other… To sort of have each other to lean on to stay motivated and get through the rough patches, and that’s how the idea of RunnersConnect came into being.
