Based on the principles found in his best selling book Racing Weight, Matt creates a well-balanced meal plan.
The thing I don’t like about most meal plans is that they aren’t very realistic. I mean, who in the world actually eats seven completely different breakfasts in a week?
As a busy athlete and mediocre cook who nevertheless insists on maintaining high standards for diet quality—in both senses (healthfulness and taste)—I prefer to design meal plans that work for the many other folks out there who fit the same description.

How to Use This Meal Plan
How do I adjust to fit my calorie or macro needs?
You can either add or subtract specific foods to modify the calorie and macronutrient totals.
If you need to reduce calories, start by removing snacks as these are typically the easiest to simply remove. However, you can choose to remove any food. To do this, just click on the food or recipe. This will populate the food/recipe just below the meal plan. You can then reduce the quantity or servings to zero. You can also adjust serving sizes. Most recipes will be 1 serving, but you can change to .5 servings if you need.
If you need to add calories or a specific macro nutrient you can increase the serving size for any recipe. Just click the recipe or ingredient, which will make it popup below the meal plan, and adjust the servings.
For RunnersConnect Masters members or Training Plans members, you can save this to your meal planner. From the meal planner you can further tweak by adding your own foods or swapping things out as needed.
What if I am allergic or do not like a particular food?
You can swap out any foods you like or don’t like. If you have an allergy or prefer a different food, you can choose anything from the recipe or ingredient dropdown and replace another food in the plan. All calorie and macronutrient totals will update.
