Team RunnersConnect closes down March and brings in April with 12PRs as well as a 10K and marathon debut.

Corrie Rose ran her first marathon at the Emerald Isle Marathon, Half, and 5K in Emerald Isle, NC finishing this race in the time of 4:24:01.

CorrieRoseThis was my first Marathon and it was AWESOME!! Loved every minute of it…the nerves at the start…alone with my thoughts and running with my BFF through mile 13…talking to a gentlemen to mile 20..the intensity and numb legs and praying to mile 26..the victory at mile 26.2..and the complete soreness and feeling of total accomplishment the hours after..a top 10 in my life!!! Thank you runners connect for the great training plan and Coach Jamie for all your help!

Martin Marker ran the Carlsbad 5000 in San Diego, CA coming across the finish line in the time of 18:02 which was a PR by 31 seconds.

MMarkerI went into the race relaxed just for fun with friends. I was almost positive i could match my PR of 18:33 so i was like lets try and break 18. I went out more reckless than i normally do cause everyone was flying. I slowly faded a bit but it was fun and the last mile was seeeewper painful. 5:42, 5:48, 5:53, .1 was 4:56.

Adam Weiss ran the Around the Bay Road Race 5k in Hamilton, Ontario finishing in the 19:41 which was a PR by 57 seconds.

AWeissSub-20:00 5k! It’s been a long term goal of mine to get under 20 minutes for 5k and I finally did it. The weather was nearly perfect – not much wind and the sun was shining. I opened with a 4:01 km and was feeling good so I knew that getting under 20 was a definite possibility. Once I went through 4k in 15:54, I knew all I had to was hold on. I managed to close in 3:47 and crossed the line with a personal best of 19:41! Thanks to the RC Coaches and Community for all of the support!

Madeleine Said ran the Marine 17.75 k race in Dumfries, VA finishing this race distance in the time of 2:01:57.

MadSFinishing this race gets you guaranteed entry into the Marine Corps Marathon so that was my motivation to run this one. I had run the MCM last year and wanted to repeat this year to better my time and because last year was so much fun. The 17.75k is run through a heavily wooded park and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful fun experience! The day was cold but so sunny and the scenery was so relaxing and pretty – I just ran thisas a training run so I just enjoyed myself and didn’t check my Garmin even once! It was a very hilly course and I am happy to say I ran up all those hills while most others were walking them. I was thinking I should have had a sign that read “Trained by RunnersConnect” as I ran past them. 😉 I felt strong the whole way and in all ways, this was a win for me!

Becky Venter ran the Whenuapai Half Marathon and Fun Run 10K in Auckland, New Zealand finishing this race distance in the time of 48.16 which is PR by 1 minute and 33 seconds.

BeckyVThis was my first race since signing up to RunnersConnect three months ago, and have only been what I would call a ‘proper’ runner for the last couple of years. In that time I’ve struggled to improve my pace to the point where I can consistently run sub 5 minute kilometres. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being part of the RC community and have loved every minute of my training programme … yes, even those hill sprints and cutdown runs! I’ve learned so much about how to train safely and effectively for races and have felt my running improve dramatically in a short space of time. I was hoping to PR for this race and not only did I do that, but also placed 3rd!!! Wow, I am stoked with this result 🙂 Now my biggest challenge is to refocus on another goal … with a full winter of events coming up, I’m spoilt for choice!!

Tang Trang ran the Around The Bay 30K in Ontario, Canada finishing this race distance in the time of 2:21:48 which was a PR for at this distance.

Beautiful sunny day, not as cold as anticipated. Since it was not my main race, I wanted to go conservatively and start relatively slow in the beginning to save energy. I knew there will be a few hills at the 21k mark which kept me motivated. After a few km I was aiming at 4:50min/km pace but realized over time that I was a bit faster closer to 4:40. I did not purposedly slow down to meet my pace target as my focus was mostly to let my legs turn over as natural as possible, tried to relax and not push either. I felt pretty good for the large duration of the race, enjoying passing people slowly but surely. At the hills, surprisingly they were not as tough as my mind told me they would and I was able to pass a few more people uphills as well as downhills. I started struggling in my last 3km to maintain the pace, I had enough juice to do a little sprint in the last 50m. I realized afterward in my Garmin that my last km was actually the fastest at 4:23m/k. Overall, I am very happy about my performance, well beyond my expectation. It is the first time I do a 30K event, but I consider it a PB in my heart. Thanks all RC members and coaches for the support and looking forward to continue the training!

Kathy Balme ran the Around The Bay 30K in Ontario, Canada finishing this race distance in the time of 2:52:03.

KathyI wasn’t sure how I would perform, as I’ve been struggling with a sore right foot for 6 months (from a stress fracture), and most of my training runs have not gone quite as planned. Plus, I was in my big week before tapering for a marathon, so my quads were tired too. So, I went into the race just hoping to maintain a 6min/km pace and maybe get just under 3 hours. But I felt better than I expected, and as the race went on, I slowly increased my pace. I was able to negative split at each 10k, and finished with a much better time than I had hoped (although not a PB, (6 minutes off) but I’m very happy with the result). Before this race, I had been worried that I wouldn’t be able to do the distance, but this has given me a boost of confidence that I need for my marathon in 3 weeks.

Juraj Matuska ran the Bratislava Half Marathon in Bratislava, Slovakia finishing this race in the time of 2:13:11 which was a PR by 3 minutes and 46 minutes.

Optimal wheather 10 – 12 °C, fine rain, mild wind. First time I tried prescribed race plan and I was pleasantly surpriced. First 10 km avg pace 6:21, second 10 km avg pace 6:17and last km avg pace 5:18 min./km! PR by 3:46 (previous PR 2:16:57). I finished close behind first two Kenyans (they finished marathon …)

Bryan Jenkins ran the Monument Avenue 10K in Richmond, VA coming across the finish line in the time of 36:18.

Ran a negative split, windy conditions, first 5K was into the wind, second 5K was with the wind.

Fred Beers ran the Baker to Vegas Relay in Baker, CA to Las Vegas, NV running his 5.1 mile portion in 41 minutes and 17 seconds.

This is the largest law enforcement foot race in the world. Teams travel from all over the world to run 120 mile relay race from Baker to Vegas. There are 20 legs of the race and I ran the fourth leg.  I started running at about 5:00PM and it was extremely hot. I really loved the race because it is such a unique experience to race with other law enforcement across the desert. This was my second time running the race. I hope to compete in it next year.

Ian Statham ran the Kingsbury park run in Tamworth coming across the finish line in the time of 21:45 which is a PR by 43 seconds.

IanSBrilliant New PB on park run. was hard towards the end but pushed through and ran my fastest mile ever.

Nancy Summers ran the ZOOMA Austin Half Marathon in Austin Lost Pines Resort finishing in the time of 2:37:51.

This race was purely FOR FUN. Nikki Summers and I decided to run ZOOMA Austin Half, even though it was just a week after the Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half….mainly as a “girls’ trip” to celebrate her birthday. The weather was absolutely perfect. It was a glorious day. The course was VERY hilly for the first 7 miles, but flattened out for miles 8-9, and last 3 were on the golf course. We had such an AWESOME time that we’ve already registered for 2016! I went into the race with the attitude of it being a long run/walk with a large group (LOL). I wound up finishing 7 minutes faster than my RNR time the previous week. No where near my PR, but this weekend wasn’t about PRs or paces or strategies. It was about enjoying running with my two awesome daughters and just having a good time. Race goal accomplished! The entire experience of this ZOOMA weekend was amazing. Can’t wait for next year!!

Shirley Diaz-Brown ran the Atlanta Women’s 5K in Atlanta, Georgia finishing this race in the time of 32:34 which was a PR.

ShirleyDBThis wasn’t my first 5k but after my stress fracture in March of 2013 and 3rd baby born in April of 2014 this was HUGE for me. It took me a long time after giving birth to Emma to get myself back into running. I wanted to be the runner I was prior to the stress fracture and fear of new beginnings kept me at a stand still. y darling husband gifted me with a RC membership for Christmas. So, I knew it was time to get back on the horse. Running had become so much a part of my every day that I missed it dearly but I was also scared. Scared of what? I’m not sure but it was holding me back until I finally just said okay, I’m going to run again. The past is the past and joining runners connect has become my journey back into running. Before I was running to run, I didn’t have a plan, I just ran. Now, I have structure and I’m learning more about a sport that I fell in love with.  This was an all women’s race! Girl power in full effect 🙂 My goal was to finish in under 35 minutes, I finished in 32:34. The first mile was all down hill (yay) and the last two miles were steady inclines (boo), my legs felt strong and I ran the whole way. Thanks for all the coaching and awesome support. To my #1 fan, thanks for getting me out the door!

GS Lim ran the Run350 Half marathon in Singapore finishing in the time of 1:59:22 which is a PR by 3 minutes.

GSThis is the first race i could run the whole distance without stopping. Thanks for coach Jamie for insisting running the easy easy. I felt my fitness has improved much. I began the race slow, following the race plan. After 5 km i increased the pace. By 12th km i caught up with the 2:00 pacers. By 14th km i overtook them. After that it was a determined effort to stay ahead of them. i was very happy to have run the half marathon under 2 hours at age 63.

Ben Lundell ran the Chi Town 10k in Chicago, IL finishing in the time of 41:33 which was a PR by 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

BenLDropped 3:15 from a September 2014 10k to finish in 41:33 at the Chi Town 10k (24th place overall, 4th age group). The most interesting thing that happened was turning a corner at 3 miles into the race to find a gentleman pointing at an underground walking tunnel and saying, “the course goes through here but there’s a water leak.” After entering the tunnel, I saw the guy in front of me stop and turn around before noticing water a foot in depth. With no way to go around the water, we sloshed through the two segments of flowing water. I thought having feet soaking wet would make for a terrible rest of the race but a mile later I really could not tell much of a difference.

Thanasis Kypraios ran the Kallithea Run 10K in Athens, Greece finishing this race in the time of 41:40 which is a PR by 1 minute and 30 seconds.

thanasisThis was my chance to break my PR in a 10K race. The route was flat enough, the weather was perfect for running and I have been in great shape lately, so I went for it and I did it! Of course, this was just a tuneup race, so I am waiting for the final results in my main goal race which will be held in 3 weeks. Anyway, when you are in a race, you just race it, so that’s what I did!

Anne-Lise Vivier ran her first 10K at the Scotland Run in Central Park, NYC coming across the finish line in the time of 55:15.

Great! I had trouble navigating the crowd (8,000 runners!) for the first 1.5 miles, which prevented me from getting into a good pace right away, but the rest went well. I have to admit that I dreaded the Harlem Hills, but I flew over them! I started my finish sprint way to early, so I also did not finish as well as I wanted to. Something to improve in the future.

John Gardener ran the Teifi 10 miler in Lampeter , Wales finishing in this race distance in the time of 1:12:27 which is a PR by 40 seconds.

JohnGPB for my present age category. Previous best was 1:13:08 in 2012. Course was undulating, but no severely steep hills. Lovely sunny day but not too hot. Hopefully good omen for Marathon in 2 weeks.

Mike Sheridan ran the Maidenhead Easter 10 miler in United Kingdom coming across the finish line in the time of 65:57 taking second his Age Group.

Came at the end of a 12 week marathon training block and I trained through the week so to miss a lifetime PR by just 12 secs is “ok” and it was a course PR by over 3 mins Pleased that my fastest mile was the last one, in exactly 6:00 mins. I finished 2nd V60 in the race and the result puts me top of the UK V65 rankings for 10m in 2015.

Rob Sklenar ran the American River 50 Mile Endurance Race in Folsom to Auburn CA finishing this race distance in the time of 9:32:22 which was a PR by 31 minutes.

RobSKLThe race went pretty well, considering a 30+ minute PR, but also had a number of issues to deal with as my watch wasn’t working correctly, didn’t know distance or pace, just time overall until it completely stopped 8 hours in. I then injured my right foot on a protruding root on a fairly technical section around mile 39 which slowed me down a lot over the final 11 miles. Still finished 135th in the field of more than 800. Over the course of a 50 miler plenty can go wrong. I felt like today I just rolled with it and ran so I’m pretty happy with the effort!

Lisa Thomas ran the Run Rabbit Run 5K coming across the finish line with a time of 21:25.

LisaTIts always nice and convenient to run in your neighborhood, but especially if its a race. It gives you a slight advantage since you know the roads so well. This was a small community race in its 4th year. I ran it 2 years ago and beat that time by a second. Nothing great about that – but since I’m 2 years older – its satisfying to know I’m racing about the same effort and haven’t started to decline just yet. This was also a tune-up race for some 5Ks in the upcoming weeks. Thank you RC coaches for your continued support!
