Race Results Weekend of September 17th-18th

best-running-coachWe had an unbelievable weekend of racing at RunnersConnect this week. To be honest, I am still a little shocked. The weekend was so awesome, I couldn’t fit everything in the activity stream, so I created whole post instead.

Monica Ross – Half Marathon 1:24:00

Monica ran at the Philly Half Marathon and recorded a 1:50 PR!! She was 4th masters and won her age group. It’s truly something special and fun to watch Monica progress. For all of those that are currently struggling, when Monica and I first started working together she was coming off a torn plantar and was basically starting from scratch. She was unbelievably patient and week after week, she continued to improve and progress to the point she is at now. Monica’s big goal is the Chicago marathon on October 9th. Watch out sub 3, here she comes!

Bill Washer – Half Marathon 1:15:41

Bill had a PR day on the Philly half marathon course despite a heavy marathon training workload the last few weeks. This was a 3 minute PR and it really sets him up well for a good race at the NYC marathon.

Pearson Smith  – Marathon 3:15:11

Pearson ran the Top of Utah marathon and finished with a 6 minute PR. Talk about an awesome run. Pearson executed perfectly and capitalized on her best training segment to date. Pearson did a great job this summer sticking to the plan and trusting the training, especially when she wanted to keep doing more and more training 🙂

Marty Bradley – Half Marathon 2:01:37

Marty also ran the Philly half and finished with a really nice time at 2:01:37. As many of you might know, Marty came down with a wicked virus a few weeks ago that wiped out two weeks of training. Considering the big goal is sub 2 hours at Baltimore in 4 weeks, I would say we are definitely on the right track.

Jack Brolly – 5k 27:32

Jack improved upon his seasons best by almost 2 minutes, running a very smart race strategy. A huge improvement in 5 weeks is pretty awesome!

Richard Harris – 10k 34:47

Another great run by Richard and a new PR to boot. This time Richard finished in second place, but this race was a big step up for him in terms of distance and learning to compete with the best Charlotte has to offer.

Jessica Morrison – 5k 22:44

A big PR for Jessica at the CVS 5k in Providence. I thought Jessica might be in low 23 minute shape, but she went out and proved me wrong on a deceivingly tough course. The time continues to melt off the 5k PR!

Eric Nordquist – Half Marathon 1:31:36

This was Eric’s tune-up for the Philly marathon where he hopes to qualify for Boston. I must admit, I was wrong again. I thought Eric was in 1:34 shape, but he went out and surprised me and ran really well. This puts him far ahead of what I was expecting and means great things for Philly.

Philip Sheridan – Half Marathon 1:23:33

Philip is preparing for the Dublin Marathon and finished this race 1 minute faster than last year on the same course. Definite progress and a really good sign of his marathon fitness and preparation.

Paul Carolan – Half Marathon 1:30:06

Paul also ran the half with Philip and recorded a PR by 2 minutes (pretty sure on that number). Many of you may not know, but Paul cut up his foot pretty bad in a triathlon earlier this summer, which required almost two weeks off. Paul struggled to regain his form early, but showed that it doesn’t take much to get back on top of the mountain when you’ve been training hard. Great run!

Jamie Dodge – 10k 46:56

Jamie ran a really smart race, especially under difficult conditions. In the past, Jamie has struggled mentally in some of her races, but she really approached this one confident in herself and it showed. I couldn’t be happier with her performance or attitude heading into the race. To top it off, Jamie was 2nd in her age-group!

Arnold Goldberg – Half Marathon x:xx:xx

Arnold was unfortunately lead off course and ran what we think was a mile short. Despite this, he was looking very strong and I think he would have finished pretty well. Arnold races the San Jose RnR in a few weeks, so redemption will come quickly.

Cody Hill – 8k 27:55:00

Cody continued his fine early season performance with a nice 8k cross country race. The time was a 30 second improvement from the same course last year. Keep the ball rolling, Cody!
