2 Personal Bests highlight Team RunnersConnect excellent weekend of races

Sadhna Vora ran the Parkrun 5k, finishing this distance in the time of 22:31.

First mile felt way easy but I realized I went out too hot and couldn’t sustain it and just did the best I could to hang on the last two miles. 9 seconds off my PR but still feel ok about it. It was hot and muggy (66 degrees, dew point 60 degrees) and lots of turns/ running on an uneven path and people to dodge and more hills than my PR (49 degrees out and back and completely flat)), so I still feel good about it. It would have been nice to go faster but I still think my fitness is there. On to the next!

Jeff Parsons ran the Idaho Running Day Half Marathon and finished with a time of 1:35:19. This was a personal record by 1:54.

I was happy with this effort and the result. The course was an out-and-back that went downhill on the out and uphill on the back. That messed with my pacing, but I kept all the miles under my target even if I tailed off slightly the last few miles.

Siuberto Socarras ran the Fire Hero 5k and finished this race in the time of 32:46.

My first 5k in the rain. Came in as top 10 in my age category. Performance similar to last 5k. This was a tune up race for my next 5k in October and for my February 2025 half marathon.

Corrinne Mills ran the Chicago Marathon (5k Tune-up) and finished in a time of 26:18.

We had perfect conditions (mid-50s F, shaded path, dry) and I felt good. Paced myself carefully for the first two miles with an 8:30 target then ignored my watch and went by feel, which got me 8:15 for the last mile and a little boost at the end. I don’t think I left too much in the tank here, and I’m happy with the outcome. 26:17 is close to my PR of 26:04 and this course has a lot of turns, so it feels like my PR might be in striking distance. 3rd out of 101 F40-44, so really pleased with that.

Andrius Keblas ran the Tallinn Marathon (35k) with a finishing time of 2:52:20.

My goal was 3:15. First half marathon went perfect, stayed controlled with my pace and felt great. But then at km 20-21 there was a hill climb and while climbing it dropped the pace by 20-30secs not to blow my legs but by km 24-25 I don’t know what happened and all the energy from my legs was just gone. Didn’t have cramps, wasn’t overheating, tried to control my breath, kept taking salt pills and gels every 45mins but the wind was just gone out of the legs. First half – perfect execution according to plan and then it all collapsed very fast. Tried to make my way for another 8-10kms but just couldn’t get any pace that was sustainable to get any decent result, so decided to call it a day at km 35 and save my legs from unnecessary exhaustion.

Cameron Wilson ran the Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon and finished with a time of 3:44:30. This was a huge personal record by 26 minutes!

Raced with my mom and dad, in what was probably their last marathon. Did my personal best, and enjoyed the race.
