Kim Kossick ran the Goffstown Gobble Wobble 5 mile and finished with a time of 56:29.
Every race seems to be preceded by a trial week. Weird. This usually means I don’t sleep great and my nutrition goes to hell. However, the race was a good time. 10-12 people from my office participated. A bright sunny day on an undulating course.
This wasn’t a goal race, so I tried to relax and concentrate on my form and pacing, etc. I managed to make the last mile the fastest and pass two people near the finish.
The race announced everyone as they came past the finish, so that was exciting. I got to high-five “”Mr. Butterball”” the turkey mascot. All my friends were at the finish line waiting for me. It was a fun end to a crazy week.
Jon Whitehouse ran the Orion 15 25k and finished this distance in the time of 1:56:15.
Great race going up and down steep forest hills but felt about seven miles too long. Started well and settled into a good group: overtaking going downhill and on the flat and losing ground going uphill (must work on that). Slowed a lot after half-way as the trails got more technical and muddy, lost touch with the group and ran more steadily / slowly to the finish.
Siuberto Socarras ran the Flannigan‘s Rockin Rib 10K and finished this race in the time of 1:08:04.
First 10k. Did it in 68 minutes. Liked that I ranked 17 out of all 36 males in my age category.
Nicole Berkman ran the Philadelphia Marathon with a finishing time of 4:35:37. This was a massive personal record by 44 minutes!
Perfect running conditions! I actually think I started our too conservatively but then edged into a comfortable pace. Was really focused on fueling so I didn’t crash at the end. Was really special having my family there as well!
Mark Gilbert ran the Little Rock Arkansas Marathon and finished in a time of 3:56:29.
Today’s race was probably my most consistent pace and overall finish according to my pre-race plan. I wasn’t completed exhausted when I finished. This was my first non ultra marathon in 3 years and my 2nd best marathon time overall. Also, the finisher medals are huge!
Tom Mccray ran the Philadelphia Marathon and finished with a time of 4:04:37.
Wonderful weather and amazing crowd. My only goal was to safely guide my visually impaired friend, mission accomplished 😀
Tony Malinauskas ran the Spartan Sprint 4 mile, finishing this distance in the time of 57:30.
This was just a short obstacle race to test if my arm could handle obstacles again after rupturing a tendon in my shoulder in August. Surprisingly won my age group!
Zachary Tang ran the Berbee Derby 5k and finished in a time of 19:33. This was a personal record by 1 minute and 19 seconds!
PR!
Jonathan Bogaard ran the Northshore Turkey Trot 10k with a finishing time of 49:59.
I felt good about the race going into it with a solid race plan (thanks Coach Andie). The first two mile intervals were a little ahead of goal and I felt pretty good. The final two mile interval was a little slower than goal but I was still ahead of goal finishing time. With less than .2 to remaining I took a fall with a “yard sale” (lost my running belt, towel, etc). I rolled through the fall (scraped knee, sore ribs and sore hand post race), gathered my things and got back in the race. I pushed hard the remaining distance as was able to sneak in under 0:50:00 (which was my goal). Thanksgiving day with family thereafter! Great day.
Bruce Bergeson ran the Thankful Half Marathon and finished with a time of 1:55:17.
It was too cold outside for me to run this race. I ran inside on a track that took 6.5 laps to a mile. It is harder to run alone. I like the summer season much better.
Larry Shaw-salazar ran the Thankful 13 5k and completed this race event in the time of 22:19.
I beat my 5k time from a few weeks ago by less than a second!
Joe Allen ran the NCR Trail Marathon with a finishing time of 5:09:58.
Some days you just don’t have it and unfortunately that was the case in my goal race. I’d been bothered with a sore hamstring the last couple of weeks of my training but did the stretches recommended by our coaches and it didn’t bother me. However, I never hit my goal pace and really labored almost from the beginning. Most times before when that happens I fight through and manage to do better later on but that didn’t happen this time. At Mile 15, my left hip got really sore and I began walking for 30 seconds and that worked for 3 miles but at Mile 19, I was in real trouble. My walks got longer and my pace completely fell apart. I was able to run the last 3/4 mile to the finish line and did something that I’ve never done before. I was closing in on a woman who looked like she was running her first marathon and could have passed her but realized that might make her feel bad so pulled up and let her finish ahead of me. Oh, well– some days you get the bear and some days it gets you. He got me this time.
Adam Gaon ran the Florence Marathon and finished this race in the time of 3:29:19.
Classic marathon mistake – I went out too fast for the 1st half of this race and paid the price at the end. After my recent PR/BQ in venice, I considered this race “”icing on the cake”” and I wasn’t planning on pushing myself too much but I started off the race feeling good and figured what the heck…..
Worked up until about the 30K mark and then fatigue and hamstring cramps creeped in. I wound up walking parts of the later stages of the race and finished in 3:29:19.
I guess the take away here is the need to be more disciplined and to follow the goal/race pace that I trained for. Florence, italy – probably 1 of the most beautiful races out there !
Jeffery Larson ran the Lincoln YMCA Turkey Trot 5k and finished with a time of 19:36, which was a PR by 42 seconds!
It was a cold race morning. Winds were around 25 mph gusts and the feels like temp was around 17. From the start, I was able to stick behind someone running slightly faster than I thought I would be able to hold. With the wind, I tried to draft, but she was considerably shorter than me. Something has got to be better than nothing though. Each time we ran an incline, she would gap me and I would work hard to close after the peak. My HRM fell from my chest and down to my waist about half-way through the race, so my HR data became junk. I’m quite sure I would have been in the 180’s by the end. After the 2 mi mark, I wasn’t able to close gaps from the inclines anymore and had to let her go. I had a couple of people pass me at this point and was able to use them as a chance to refocus. I kept ahead of the person coming up behind me as we went under the finish line.
