Jennifer Munkner ran the Devil Mountain Run 10k and finished with a time of 01:01:34, which was a PR by 7 seconds!
It was a beautiful morning for this local, community race. This was the course that I got my PR on last year, so it was exciting to beat my time a year later. Even though it was a very small PR, I felt strong going into the race and never allowed those voices of doubt to creep into my mind. The timing of this little win is huge for me mentally, as I hope to keep building on my training and momentum as I switch gears and start training for my first marathon.
Steve Byun ran the NEFCU Long Island 5K and finished this distance in the time of 00:22:30, which was a PR!
This was a tune up race and my first attempt at this distance. Went with a realistic view of my physical and mental fitness and hit my goal time to the second! (00:22:30) Didn’t think it was particularly a fast time, but it was good enough for 2nd place A.G. and 13 out of 392 overall. Looking forward to how much improvement can be made in 4 weeks to the goal 5k race.
Darci LaFave ran the Plattsburgh Half, 10K, 5K (10k) with a finishing time of 49:11.
With the Boston Marathon only a couple of weeks in my rearview mirror, I’ve been doing recovery runs. Other running friends had signed up for this regional race and since the weather looked ok, I made the decision to run it just 3 days ago. I did not have any expectations and planned to just run by feel. I ran smart, in control, and had a good finish! Besides that, I ended up being 3rd place female overall! You never know what your day will bring. š
Wally Bixby ran the Cherry Pit 10 Mile Run and finished in a time of 1:10:03. This was a personal record by 1 minute!
This was my first race since Boston and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I started off at the tail end of a group but decided they were going a bit too fast so I backed off and went at my own pace. I was happy with my initial splits and how I was feeling so I just kept it going. After half way I decided to increase the effort slightly and I was able to power up the biggest hill. After the hill I kept the pressure on and was able to roll through a couple of really good miles and pass a couple of people who were coming off the group in front of me. The last mile was mostly downhill and I was able to run my fastest mile to the finish. Feel really good about this after Boston and looking forward to put in some good training and racing over the next few months.
Chris Rose ran the Flying Pig 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 54:55.
I felt really strong in this race and had to pull back on every mile since I was trying to save my legs for the marathon. This was a really fun race.
Chris Rose ran the Flying pig 5k and finished this race event in the time of 26:51.
Nothing really, I was trying to save my legs for the marathon.
Chris Rose ran the Flying Pig One Mile and completed this distance in the time of 7:37.
It was over before it started and received a cool medal for a few minutes of work.
Chris Rose ran the Flying Pig Marathon with a finishing time of 4:54:16.
I started the race with tired legs since I ran 4 races this weekend. I was on pace to PR in mile 17 but I was started to cramp a little bit. I met up with a guy Juan Gomez and he was really struggling. I decided to pace him to a PR since someone else did that for me a few years ago. By mile 22 the cramps were better than previous marathons but were still evident. This ended up being my slowest marathon to date but was worth it to help Juan gets PR the day before his anniversary. If I would not have stopped I imagine I would have finished under 4:30 but not PR which is 4:22. I have a half marathon memorial day weekend and that is the last race I signed up for.
Boaz Gazit ran the Herzelia Race 10k and finished with a time of 0:44:25:02.
This race did not work as planned, I slowed down on the 6th and 7th Km realizing this is not going to be PR, decided not to fight and hang there to the finish line. In order to push harder, I should have given it all in and run 120% effort which I didn’t. It is still 2nd best result I had on 10k race. This concludes a great racing season, breaking records on all my favourite distances 10k, half and marathon.
Megan Zach ran the Hurts Donut 5K and finished this race in the time of 0:24:15.
Since I havenāt been consistent with my training, I wasnāt expecting to hit my goals because I didnāt put in the work to do so. I went into this 5k using it as a base for where I am at so I can see what my progression point is from here. I am looking forward to starting a new training regimen and working on being more consistent to see how this impacts my results.
Kathryn Pettijohn ran the Shiprock Marathon and completed this race event in the time of 5:03:29.
Made it through without any *major* mishaps. Everything south started aching around mile 18. Canāt really say why other than still a little beat up from the 50? Was on top of my nutrition and pace but slowed around this mark, otherwise I shouldāve come in under five hours.
Kris Hake ran the Mermaid 10k and finished this race event in the time of 1:00:11.
Lost focus in mile 3, 4, 5. Overall not as fast as I would have liked. But given the stress from last couple of weeks, this was great. I’m looking forward to my half in 3 weeks.
Elizabeth Atwater ran the The Portsmouth 5K and completed this distance in the time of 20:18, which was a PR!
Holy cow, I won the whole race! 1st place overall, even beat the men! I always forget to stop my watch, and goal was sub 20, so close enough. Big smiles here ???āāļø?
Carlos Pineiro ran the NYRR Fiesta 5K with a finishing time of 18:12.
Wanted to break 18 this race I ran little further than 5k distance so I might have been close hopefully next tune up race I can do it!
Erin Plati ran the Redding Road Race Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 2:04:10. This was a new personal record by 2 minutes!
This was the hardest race course I have ever run and in the worst conditions. The steady and sometimes heavy rain did not let up the entire time and this course was one hill after another. There were off road bits of this course that forced us to slog though mud and really slow down so as not to fall. I went out way too fast and so after mile 8, there were moments (particularly up the hills) when I wasn’t sure how I was going to finish. I had to dig really really deep to pull this off.
Mile 11 was almost entirely uphill and I was at the point of tears. Walked about .25 miles of the last hills during mile 12 and then finished fairly strong. If this course had been flat and conditions better, I think I could have gotten sub 2, but I’m very proud of my performance under these circumstances. This was over 2 minutes faster than my best half of the last 8 years (2:06:21 6 months ago). My PR of 1:58:21 was in 2010 so age graded I’d say did really well. I didn’t leave anything on the course! AND, I paced overall a 9:35 mile which is what the coaches thought I could manage. So there you go…
I learned some important lessons this race. I need to figure out fuel and water (definitely ran out of gas and was dehydrated), need to figure out how to pace better in the first half of a race. Also learned that rain is not so bad on paved roads but sucks on dirt and gravel. I’m ready for another!!!!! Next stop marathon. Definitely going to PR! Bring it on!!!
Jonathan Bogaard ran the Wisconsin Marathon (Half) and finished in a time of 1:45:38. This was a personal record by 0:01:49.
Almost perfect weather. Probably a little quick in the early miles and faded a little in the middle so I didn’t get my A+ goal of sub 1:45 but I did get a nice PR and, other than the start, I feel like I executed the race plan fairly well. At some point I realized 1;45 was going to be a hard result to get but I didn’t let that get me down either – just tried to execute the race plan and do the best I could for that day. I’m happy with the 3 finishing miles (executed very close to plan) and feel like I finished strong. Best part of the day – taking frozen towels out to mile 22.5 to meet my training partner (running the marathon) and run him in to the finish. Overall a great day!
Wendy Rosenfield ran the Broad Street Run 10 mile and finished this distance in the time of 1:55:34.
Had a great race despite the rainy weather. Ran with a friend who’s slightly faster than me, so she pushed me a bit and I helped her keep a steady pace. Felt strong for about 90% of the way, and was really happy with my finishing time, which is much faster than it has been for the past five years!
Crystal Huff ran the Lincoln Marathon and finished with a time of 3:41:31.
Well I didnāt PR this time but Iām 100% at peace with it. The course became too hot for me so I had to slow my pace down. Iām very proud of my effort.
I tried to conserve energy in the first half but it wasnāt enough for this race. I was on point for my pace the entire first half. The first 5K I ran an 8:01 pace. Then I picked it up and ran mostly a 7:56 pace. There were two miles that crept into 7:45 but I slowed down to get back to the 7:56 pace I had planned to run.
Then around 17 miles I noticed that I was starting to slow down. I didnāt want to fight it because I still had a ways to go. At mile 19.5 I needed to reset myself so I walked close to a half mile before running again. At that point I was running around 9:11 pace and maintained that until 25 miles. I noticed that I was close to a BQ time so I decided to pick up the pace. But as you can see I missed it by 1:31.
The one thing that Iām most proud of during this race is that it never defeated me. It may have slowed me down but I wasnāt defeated. I stayed mentally strong throughout. There were 10,000 runners who signed up for the race and I was able to place 6th in my age group. Overall it was a good race.
Maurice McMahon ran the Drogheda 10k and completed this distance in the time of 0:33:51.
This is a tough course with a hilly first few k. Then it evens out a bit but a 1k hill at 7. Then downhill for guts of 1k. The last k was flat but had 2 short sharp ramps also. Started off just below race target pace. Moved up through the field and by 4k was running in a group of 4 (including my team mate) with only 3 up ahead of us. One dropped off the group with the 3 (me, my team mate and an Irish Olympian from Barcelona who ran Rotherham marathon 4 weeks ago in 2.30 aged 59 – which is a world age record) of us working together. The hill at 7k saw us split slightly but we came together at the bottom of hill. A small gap came between us again with my team mate taking the pace and me trailing behind. There was a chap closing the gap behind. I knew I had to dig in and going up the last ramp closed the gap and went into 5th place with my team mate just ahead of me and ended up finishing 2 seconds behind him. With the 2 lads right behind me. Was delighted with my performance. Recovery work coming up and then starting the speed phase of my training.
Eugene Reesor ran the Toronto Marathon with a finishing time of 3:42:04. This was a PR by 10 minutes!
My goal was to run 3:45 and qualify for Boston, and I achieved that! I worked hard for 4 months, and it is rewarding that it paid off. My thanks to Runnersconnect and the coaches for the training plan and advise along the way. I’m not part of any running club, so it definitely helped to have a network to draw upon and be accountable for during training.
It was my second marathon – an advantage of starting late in the sport is that I can achieve PB’s after the age of 60.
Marie Ostby ran the Long Island 10K and finished this race event in the time of 0:54:24.
Very soggy tune-up at the Long Island 10K this morning. Downpour throughout – shoes were soaked by the first half-mile and there was tons of crowding in the first half of the race due to puddles – probably spent a bit too much energy trying to weave around at the beginning. But it might also have been good that I was held back in the first mile by the crowds. Hit a good comfortable stride in miles 2-4 (didnāt realize I had tailwind!), felt like solid tempo pace, then miles 5-6 were tougher with some headwind, heavy wet shoes, and no music (headphones died at mile 4). Managed to hang on to even pace though (mantras ādonāt blow upā and ājust hang onā helped) and was really only gutting it out in the last half mile. Pretty happy with this.
Shirley Brown ran the Broad Street Run 10 mile and finished this distance in the time of 1:31:52, which was a PR by a minute!
Broad street run. During the rain. My training helped me improve my race time as I went up in miles. I got faster as I got closer to finishing it. It felt amazing. Thank you to all the coaches. I have definitely become a better and faster runner.
Svetlana Hemsley ran the Southampton Half Marathon and finished in 1:53:17. This was a new personal record by 6 minutes!
The weather was perfect. The organisation was good and route almost flat. In the middle of the race miles I spotted a middle aged man wearing T-shirt with Russian writing, so started chasing him to say hello. It took me 3 miles to catch up on the top of a hill. I was so breathless by then could not say a word! Soon after he was just gone!!! So that was an entertainment for me that left me tired.
Another silly but funny thing was that I only turned Strava on on the 3d mile so could not estimate the finish time. In the last mile I did 5 sprints! thinking it was close to finish but the finish was nowhere to be seen!!! By the time I was by the finish line I could not sprint any longer.
Anyway, it was a big PB for me and I am happy. I started running last September and done 4 half marathons. The first one in January have me time of 2 hours and Iāve shaved off 7 minutes in 4 months! Now rest and get ready for my first marathon in June š
Gene Gray ran the Pittsburgh Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 2:30:25.
Entered this race to run with some old work buddies. Pittsburgh puts on a great event. Unfortunately I came down with a cold/allergies and a left adductor niggle about three weeks ago. My training was going picture perfect up to that point. (Thank you RC coaches and community) While I got over the cold/allergies, I never got over the left adductor niggle 100%. No complaints in the weather department. The fan support was amazing. My goals were 1) get to the starting line 2) finish 3) come close to and/or exceed my last half marathon time of 2:11:00 last December. After the first few miles I knew I was in for a struggle fest. At the end of mile eight I knew it was going to be an even bigger struggle to finish. Nutrition and hydration were spot on. While I only met two of my three goals today, I’m grateful for meeting goal #2. Were it not for the adductor issue, I feel confident I would have met all three goals.
Joseph Mullen ran the Broad Street Run 10 mile and finished with a time of 1:11:28.
I’ll take it considering my hip has been giving me trouble and then I got sick which combined to make me miss several training runs, I raced the day before (10K), and the rain.
Bill Keefe ran the Belltown 5k and finished this race event in the time of 23:03.
This was a benchmark race after much too long a time off. No PR and not even a great time but I felt much better running at pace. Ran only slightly better than I did in a Feb 5k but that was a flat course and I was completely finished at the end. This course had a good hill and I still finished real strong and felt great afterward. Won my age bracket but it was a small and not particularly competitive field. So, I may be making a bit of lemonade but I’ll take this as a good day.
Noel Taganahan ran the BMO Vancouver Half Marathon with a finishing time of 2:19:19.
Completed my half marathon run in 2:19:09; 10 seconds shy of my PR around 4 years ago. I thought I could reach my goal of 2:18, but didnāt happen. Overall, Iām satisfied.
Kingsley Gibbens ran the Grandmas Marathon (HM) and finished with a time of 1:21:36.
Big race for me! Exceeded my expectations! Felt really strong throughout the race.
Kevin Daniel ran the Take 5 in the Garden 5 mile and finished this race event in the time of 41:09:00, which was a PR by 51 seconds!
This is a PR from last year, since it’s the only 5 mile race that I do every year. It felt difficult for the first mile and a half, as it’s uphill and I had a side-stitch through 2 miles. Once that broke, I was able to level out and finished the race pretty strong.
Katie Halder ran the Lake Minnetonka 1/2 Marathon with a finishing time of 1:39:21.
First 1/2 Marathon!! Was able to run with a friend for about the first 7 miles. this course had quite a few rolling hills. I liked that we started out a little on the slower side and then was able to pick up the pace and overall felt good at the end, or felt like I had some more energy to push it a little more to the finish. Hamstring did not give me trouble during this! I was able to practice some fueling strategies. I was feeling great around 7 and 8, did start feeling the hills and legs after that but was able to continue. Overall, liked the 1/2 marathon!
Thomas Bernota ran the 2019 Avenue of the Giants Half Marathon and finished in 1:53:41. This was a personal record by 1:34.
As determined earlier, because of several missed long runs and lost training at a critical stage due to a cold, I opted to run the half instead of the full I had been targeting. I ran this course 1 1/2 years ago and that was my previous pr (chip time 1:54:36/gun time 1:55:15). Today, gun time was 1:53:41.
I set a very aggressive stretch goal – to run the half under 1:50. Secondary goal was to better my previous time on this course. Tertiary was to finish under 2. I couldn’t maintain the 8:25 pace required to make the stretch goal, but am satisfied with setting a new pr. Pretty happy to have had something left in the tank for a decent push at the end; Also, I was really happy with the group placements (I typically seem to place mid-pack):
Overall: 165/887
Male: 103/342
Male 55-59: 7/33
Male Grand Master: 21/99
Male Masters: 35/173A nice highlight for me – after the finish, another runner came up to me and said he was pacing me, and I pulled him along at the end for a strong finish! I’ve used other runners for that myself – it was nice to be able to do that for someone else. In summary, slightly disappointed I didn’t run a bit faster, but it’s a pr, so can’t really complaint. Already thinking about the next big goal race!
Bjarne InnvƦr ran the Sunnhordland Maraton with a finishing time of 3:28:01, which was a PR!
Very happy to complete my first marathon!! On top of this I ran 2 minutes faster than my personal best-case-scenario. I went for a relatively steady pace the first 30k. After that I slowly increased my pace although it was a pretty hilly part of the course at that point (total elevation gain for the course: 430 m). I got cramps for the first time a few hundered meters before the finish line, but I managed to keep it under control. Many thanks to all coaches for valuable feedbacks and good advices over the past months. Couldn`t have done it without you!
Robert Walton ran the Pittsburgh Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 2:03:32.
Pittsburgh is my favorite city and the race took runners through each of the city’s neighborhoods. I got my second best Half ever despite not really training for this. I just ran off my fitness from my marathon of 4 weeks ago. I suspect I have a new half PR in me if I train for a half this fall.
Renee Devereaux ran the Mississauga Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:02:48.
The day was perfect, the course was beautiful and mostly flat/downhill. What made the race special was that my husband was running his first marathon at the same time and we had family from near and far come to watch.
My original (albeit maybe ambitious at current fitness) goal was sub 2-hrs but after some wise counsel from RC coaches I adjusted this to focus on attempting a negative split, something I’ve never done in a race. I haven’t done the math on this but I think I may have achieved that goal. Regardless, I felt strong throughout and it was an exciting experience to be at km 16 and still feel I had some speed in the tank. With RC I’ve found there are several things I’ve read about and know about as a runner but don’t actually operationalize (running easy runs at a truly easy pace, holding back in the first 10k of a half, etc!). It’s been great to have the accountability of knowing my results will be evaluated to force me to actually implement best practices because they seem to work : )
I’m happy with this result and hoping with this fitness my goal time might happen at some point this year.
Jeff Wettig ran a Half Marathon race and finished in a time of 1:56:51. This was a PR by 3 minutes 2 seconds!
The Flying Pig has been one of our favorites races over the years. We have lots of friends in the Cincinnati area that we hook up with for the race. My favorite Half. Broke my event ’16 PR of 1:59.53 by 3 mins, 2 secs, which considering the hills I’m very pleased with my time and strong finish.
Greg Stern ran the Hard Cider Run 5k, finishing this distance in the time of 0:25:43.
3.3 miles of complete mud! Sharp turns. BUT I never fell! 4th place overall.
Catherine Tams ran the Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:57:48.
This was such an amazing experience!!!? The energy was incredible – athletes singing and laughing during the run and so many people on the side cheering us on. The WHOLE WAY! It was a fast race. There was never a time that I felt I had no room to run and maybe that was because for the first 7 miles everyone was passing me!!! Lol. I felt sooo slow? But by mile 8 I was starting to pass a lot of ppl. Feeling pretty good about myself, I kicked it up a notch but I also found myself going uphill so my pace did slow down a bit. Great place to pass more people? After that it was go time. My goal was to get in under 2 hours but I had already spent a week in Paris and Barcelona, seeing everything I could, not really training tons so by race day I was feeling like anything would be ok. But, I feel like I rocked this. I pushed myself at the end as best I could and when I crossed that finish line at 1.57, I was truly awed. I had the most fun ever and if anyone has a chance to run this, I would totally recommend it. I was so thankful I was ready and trained for this race. Thank you RC for another great finish and Madrid for a fantastic race!???
Meredith Clark ran the Milton Keynes Half Marathon and finished with a time of 1:39:49.
My A goal was a 1:37:XX, my B goal was to beat my fiance’s PR of 1:38:08, and my C goal was to PR (previous PR was 1:39:43). Unfortunately, I didn’t meet any of those … I was 6 seconds off my PR.
This race was much more hilly than I expected and it really affected my legs. I was not super consistent and from mile 6 onwards struggled mentally. The second half was run on paved trails in a wooded park, which was beautiful, but felt a bit isolated. Between miles 11 and 12 the wheels came off, my pace dipped and I walked a water station to mentally collect myself.
Overall, I’m glad it’s done and I ended up being the #24 female overall, so I guess it’s not all bad! I know I have a lot of work to do to strengthen my mental game and probably add more strength training back into my regimen.
