Travis Dowell ran the Diane Snyder Race to Remember 5k, finishing this distance in the time of 30:05.
I finished at an average pace of 9:42 for this 5K, which is one of my slowest 5K. The course was advertised as having 45 feet of elevation gain. It did feel like much more than 45 feet, as another senior male was mentioning to me as well. The course was about 50% lumpy asphalt walkways and about 50% hard packed dirt trails with very small and patchy loose gravel. The wind, mostly on the way back, was at least 15 mph. All of this slowed me down a bit, in addition to being older each race, but I did well enough to place 1st of 8 males in my AG, 36th of 75 males, and 59th of 234 runners. Overall, this was a good result, especially considering that I beat 7 others in my AG.
Martha Plaza ran a 5k Tuneup race and finished with a time of 28:32. This was a personal record by one minute!
All the hard work paid off. Did battle mild nauseous feeling the faster I ran and had to stop to walk for a few seconds about 4 times during the race.
Sadhna Vora ran a 5k Tune-up race and finished in a time of 22:22, which was a PR by 10 seconds!
First Age group win! 10th female overall. Close to 800 runners in all. Tough but fun race!
Siuberto Socarras ran a Half Marathon at Brian Piccolo Sports Park and finished with a time of 2:51:40.
The silver lining is I improved my fitness as this was my 3rd Half Marathon in just 4 months. Thanks to RC for the schedules. Unfortunately, the organizers of this HM started the race at 9:00 am for contractual reasons so I faced 84 degree temperature with 69% humidity. This affected my pace and now I know high temperatures must go along with a change in your marathon pace no matter what. The previous HM was in 70 degrees but this one was 84 degrees with a hot sun and it made a huge difference. Given the challenge, the change in pace is reasonable.
Mike Bromberek ran the Quarryman 10 mile and finished this distance in the time of 1:12:51, which was a PR by 15 seconds!
It is a really hilly course, getting a big PR for this race and placing 2nd in my age was really exciting. My previous PR for this distance was two years ago on a very flat course so happy I could beat that on a hilly one.
Malvin Smith ran the Great North Run 3k and completed this distance in the time of 11:23.
Great conditions. 3rd male vet in Nottingham County. Yeah!
Mile split – 5:50. A good first outing over 3k on the track!
Brittany Rislund ran the Laughing Sun Mother’s Day 5K with a finishing time of 29:51. This was a new personal record by 4 minutes!
Ran the first mile way too fast, but it was the fastest mile I’ve ran in years! Crushed my PR but I think the course was .11 miles short. Either way it was a fun time!
David Cooper ran the Novice Triathlon 5k and finished this race event in the time of 39:56.
250m Swim, 10km Bike, 3km Run. I cam 2nd in this, despite the fact I wasn’t able to train much for 2 weeks as I’ve had a chest infection.
My leg held up, which I was really pleased about. Swim was strong, bike was good, and the run started off pretty slow, (with heavy legs after the bike leg), but I must have averaged about 4:30 per km. which wasn’t terrible given my fitness. I started to get into the groove for the last km. Had I been on pace at 4min I would have placed 1st. So something to focus on.
Brittany Rislund ran the Bio Girls Find Your Tribe 5K and finished with a time of 28:48. This was a personal record by 1:03.
Ran this race with my best friend, had a ton of fun despite the rain & there was a good turnout of supporters. Set out to just go and run the race at a relaxed pace & was able to do just that.
