Val Webb ran the Bataan Death March Marathon and finished with a time of 3:55:10, which was a PR!
This thing was TOUGH!! I am so happy to have hit my sub 4 hr goal! It was my first marathon, and I picked this one despite its difficulties (very sandy, lots of uphill) because it is a memorial marathon for those who endured the Battle of Bataan during world war 2. These men were POWs, ans thousands died because of the extreme conditions. This race is not far from me, and I felt compelled to honor these past soldiers. I did my training plan to a T, and did as many trail runs as I could. I felt so prepared and set up for success using your training plan! Thanks for the help and support !!
Darci LaFave ran the MCM 17.75K and finished this distance in the time of 1:30:15.
This was my first time running this race – great event and course! The sections in the woods were tough with the hills and the loose rocks, plus there were a couple of steep hills on the paved section. My game plan was to run steady and safe – no rolled ankles or other mishaps. Everything went as planned and I had a great race. I placed 170/2788 overall, 20/1316 females, and 3/124 age group. And I secured guaranteed access to the Marine Corps Marathon this fall! #MissionAccomplished
Siobhan Donegan ran the Eastern States 20 miler and finished this race in the time of 2:47:11.
I ran this race as my last 20 miler before Boston. It was a north to south race with a significant tailwind so (full disclosure) that helped all of the runners a lot! I restrained myself from capitalizing too much on the wind propelling me along, instead trying to run steady and consistent miles while still leaving something in the tank. I think this strategy worked well for me as I now count down the 3 weeks to Boston. Happy to have my final 20-miler in the books!
James Hughes ran the Mad March Hare Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:45:15, which was a PR!
So today’s half marathon went ahead and it was sunny which makes it hard to believe that 1 week ago the Coventry half marathon was cancelled due to snow. This half marathon had 4 laps which wouldn’t have been my choice. I prefer a run where it’s all new rather than repeating Laps, seems to feel longer.
Anyway it was really hard. There was one large hill on each lap and it really took it out of me. I asked a couple of runners about their pace and this helped me relax as I realised I was on target. Although it was nice to have some sun, it made the run a little harder. There was plenty of water stations and the offered out energy bars. I didn’t have any, I don’t really like eating while running. The course was tougher than I expected. I thought I might feel a little tired or sore late on but because of hill at the beginning, I did find it hard from he start.
This was my first half marathon, so it was always going to be a PR but I’m really pleased with this time, it’s as good as I could have hoped for.
Julia Landrum ran the Rock and Roll Half Marathon and finished in a time of 1:52:32.
I am 45 and have 2 kids and full time job so I didn’t expect to PR (PR is 1:39 from 1999), but this was 2 minutes faster than my December marathon (which was in much better weather on a faster course).
Anyway, hmmm… it was low 70s and 90% humidity and the course has a couple big hills. I got nervous on the start line (super big races do that to me), so I couldn’t drink much water and couldn’t take a gu (and didn’t eat breakfast)… that wasn’t great given the weather. I still kept a good pace (7:59 to 8:20) until I hit a big hill at mile 5, then the long big hill at 8 slowed me again. The roads were also terrible from 8 to 11… uneven with potholes. By the end, I got myself back together and ran 8:00 or faster from 12 to the finish. So, not a total loss!
Björn Schwab ran the Premiärmilen (Premiere 10K race Stockholm) and finished in 53.56, which was a PR by 30 seconds!
2C and snow in the air prerace. Part of the race was on non-asphalt road, wet and to a degree muddy. Heavy work load for the last three months and felt very tired from Thursday. But I showed up and got a comfortable start on the race.
Managed to run to very even 5Ks (last 5K was 5 sec faster then the first) according to race stats. Now 2 weeks break from running, then start to train for a 10K mid June.
Jennifer Thomas ran the Rosaryville Half Marathon and finished this race event in the time of 2:34:24.
Perfect weather (sunny and cold – 34 degrees) for this HM. I have run a 10 mile race and a 25k on these trails, but in very different conditions (98 degrees and 90 percent humidity, ugh). It was nice to appreciate the trails rather than just trying to survive the heat. It was technically a PR (by 14 seconds), but the course was less hilly than the course where I got the similar time. Felt good the whole time!
Jordan Nimlos ran the TC Hot Dash 10 Mile, finishing this distance in the time of 01:04:39. This was a personal record by 02:11.
This was my first 10 mile race, and I finished 32nd overall out of 1659. My previous best 10 mile split was at a half marathon last spring, which was also my HM PR (1:06:50 10 miles, 1:28:01 HM finish). I felt strong and was able to push myself for the whole race, in spite of some much larger/longer hills than I’m used to training on. This was also my first race since signing up as an RC member.
Christine Cook ran the Run for Tomorrow’s Hope 5k and finished with a time of 25:20, which was a PR by 16 seconds!
I had no intentions of filling out another race report this weekend, especially after PRing my half last weekend. My plan called for a 14 mile long run with miles 10-13 as a fast finish. My son’s track team happened to be supporting a local 5k, so I registered and planned my first 10 easy miles to end at the start line. I timed it very well with only a five minute gap. When the race began I took off much faster than intended to wake up my legs after the easy miles and then standing still for five minutes, but it felt good to get moving, so I went with it to see how my endurance would hold up on tired legs. And I PRed! The best part is that while I was definitely working to push the pace, these three miles didn’t feel any harder than my previous 5k PR where I hadn’t run 10 miles first!
