A marvelous weekend for Team RunnersConnect as athletes bring in 3 Personal Bests

Andre Arseneau ran the Good Clean Run 5k and finished with a time of 22:58. This was a personal record by 16 seconds!

When I started this run I hadn’t sorted out what I was going to do. My schedule called for 8km warmup, 3km fartlek and 5km cooldown. And I had signed up for this virtual 5km race months ago. But my legs were mush from a doubleheader of softball the night before. So I did the warmup and decided I’d start the fartlek and, if I felt I could sustain it, continue with the 5km race and get it over with. I did not expect much.

What I got was a personal best, by 16 seconds! My prior 5km best was 5 years ago … not too shabby for an old guy!

Brent Roper ran the Sunflower State Games Iliff CC Course 5k and finished this distance in the time of 22:25.

This was my fastest time on this course. Very wet. Back loaded hills. Very hilly course. Tough race. Good race!!!

Anna Haberzettl ran the Another Mother Runner Virtual 1/2M with a finishing time of 1:53:40.

Decided to aim for as flat as possible due to Achilles pain. Ran 9:00/walked 1:00 – worked out great even in the heat.

Shane Tomlinson ran the Run Melbourne Half Marathon and finished in a time of 1:38:24. This was a new personal record by 2 minutes!

Was a virtual race that I ran by myself.

Angelos Vetsis ran the Kronio Passage 69.4 Kilometres (50 miles) and finished with a time of 8:14:56. This was a personal record by 35 minutes!

It was a hilly course, with very hot weather, especially in the last 20 kms, where my stomach was very stressed. With the support of my family crew, I managed to keep control of my mind and finished the race. Thanks again RC coaches, the training really paid me off. Now I need to relax and start thinking about the preparation of my next ultra of 142 kms end of October.
