2 Personal Bests and an Age Group Award highlight the excellent weekend of races for Team RunnersConnect

Beth Montgomery ran the Whitstable and Herne Bay Summer Half Marathon with a finishing time of 2:14:38.

The weather was great, not hot and humid like I’ve been experiencing at home. It was a mostly flat course, except for one hill we had to tackle twice. There was a strong headwind that was difficult to run through during sections of the race. This felt like a strong, consistent effort. This is my second best time in the half marathon!

Christine Lee ran the All-American 4 & 8 Miler (4 mile) and finished with a time of 28:47, which was a PR!

Ran on fairly flat surface with a couple of hills. I ran downhills smoothly with minimal impact.

I ranked well in the female category and won my age category. I did not wear my watch for this race.

Andrew Burke ran the Lindsay Milk Run 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 40:54. This was a personal record by 0:46.

This was the first time I’d had the chance to participate in this race, as it had been sold out the past couple of years, so I was looking forward to the experience. The route was apparently a new one this year and was more varied than I expected, with some trail sections as well as some long and steady inclines along residential streets, but it made for a memorable setting. I felt that I was able to keep good control over my effort levels and targeted pace (despite the unexpected hills), and I think it was helpful to have had a couple of people just in front of me who I could latch onto. All in all, it felt like a controlled and enjoyable race that my training prepared me well for, and it was satisfying to be able to give a finishing kick for the last kilometre or so at my quickest pace of the race.

I was definitely happy to be able to meet my PR goal of finishing under 41 minutes despite the hills. I placed 5th overall (out of 168).

I would say that this was one of my favourite race experiences because of its local and laid-back atmosphere, as well as how my running felt from start to finish. I’m thankful for my current fitness level and for being pain-free, and I look forward to the next opportunity. Thank you once again!!

Kyle Bowman ran a 5k race and completed this distance in the time of 20:22.

I just wanted to get in a TT just to see where I was at since I haven’t raced in awhile. My workout times have been faster than prescribed so I wanted to test things to see where I was at. I can go faster but this is a good benchmark. The temperature was much nicer than it has been, so that was nice to finish a run not being soaking wet!
