1 Personal Best and some great performances highlight the weekend of races for Team RunnersConnect

Christine Lee ran the All-Out Polar Prawl Half Marathon and finished with a time of 1:36.20. This was a huge PR by 9 minutes and 22 seconds!

The race has some icy roads and I placed 2nd Overall Female. I also won $75.

Pros: Resilient and professional through cold weather

Improvements: Have faith in self to know when to gradually increase speed near end of race.

Jim Gianoglio ran The North Park Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:36:55.

I had a great race – thanks coaches!

My “”A”” goal was to get a PR (1:36:20), with my “”B”” goal to get under 1:40:00 (Garmin had my predicted race time at 1:40:10). Ended up really close to the PR (1:36:55), and couldn’t be happier 🙂

The weather turned out amazing (for an early January race). Weather reports were saying it was going to be 40 degrees F and steady rain, but the rain held off until just after the finish.

I set my target pace for the B goal, planning to speed up if I felt good (which I did!). Here were my target and actual paces (negative splits!):

Mile Target —> Actual

1: 7:50 —–> 7:39

2: 7:45 —–> 7:30

3: 7:40 —–> 7:36

4: 7:35 —–> 7:25

5: 7:35 —–> 7:22

6: 7:35 —–> 7:25

7: 7:35 —–> 7:14

8: 7:35 —–> 7:22

9: 7:35 —–> 7:16

10: 7:35 —–> 7:12

11: 7:35 —–> 7:22

12: 7:30 —–> 7:21

13: 7:25 —–> 7:03

Christina Kach ran the Goofy Challenge Half Marathon and finished this distance in the time of 2:07:25.

We just had the best time. This was my 22nd half marathon and the 7th fastest of them. We didn’t really think about pace after the first few miles (so we didn’t go out to fast, may have only been 63 but it was HUMID), just went and had fun. We had really great fun costumes today, so we stopped for photos, we stopped to talk to friends who came out to cheer along the course. Just soaked up the experience. And it was 2.5 minutes faster than last year!
