Maurice Mcmahon ran the DKIT Dundalk 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 34:18.
1st 10k since the same 10k 12 months ago. Have been struggling with a few injuries over the last few weeks so been mixing cross training and some running to try and keep the injuries under wrap. Didn’t get a proper warm up. Just done some drills. Started of comfortable and worked my way through the field. Finished 6th overall and won my age category.
Mary Shepherd ran the Pat’s Run (4.2 miles) and finished with a time of 49:12.
This “race” did not go as I expected or hoped. It just kept getting harder and harder as I went and Garmin had my heart rate in zone 4 most of the time–very usual for me, especially at the pace I actually ran. This is a crowded race–more than 20,000 runners with about 1000 released every 3 minutes or so. I just struggled the entire way and my paces show that. I wish I knew what happened. I’m going to try some different things on runs coming up. I ate beforehand as I usually do for a Saturday long run, I hydrated more because it was hot, but probably could have hydrated more right before starting the race.
Gillian Ross ran the Newport Virtual Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:49:32.
So happy knee (and body) is feeling good and that was even able to do this!
This went so well today .. started out easy for first few miles then did blocks of MP and HMP .. definitely could have kept going at the end. Practiced fueling and all worked out great!
Jens Grosch ran the Zurich Marathon and finished this race in the time of 3:21:08.
I was not able to execute on my race plan. I noticed already at 10km that I could not increase pace and then it got worse from 18km on. Looking at previous races, even in my best races I’m not able to execute the pace I achieve in the peak quality fast finish runs. I execute the quality runs with less attention to carbo loading before the run and should be more rested on race day.
