Some great performances highlight the weekend of races for Team RunnersConnect

Joe Allen ran the Rotary Lake 5K, finishing this distance in the time of 30:12.

This is a tough 5k with a series of short, steep hills with one very steep 1/4 miler just before the end. I started feeling better in the second half with a good stride and was steadily moving past runners to the finish line. While my times have slowed considerably in my 70’s, I finished in the top 3rd overall so that was nice. There’s no better feeling than hitting the finish line knowing that you’ve done your best.

Robin Whitley ran the Kew 10k and finished with a time of 1:28:33.

I’ve run this race many times and ran in 01:38:04 last September. I didn’t feel great but I think that was because of the hard hotel bed that kept waking me up Friday night. The room was great, the bed was NOT! I felt like it was a steady day, which I’ll take at this point! I’ll likely run it again (as usual) in September.
