Josie Gage ran the An Ras Mor 5k and finished this distance in the time of 25:11, which was a PR!
That’s my net time above. I run An Ras Mor every year. What makes it special is the general lack of holiday race lunacy. Also minimal strollers, dogs, children… you get the idea. This year, the most special thing is that I came out of it uninjured. Yay video analysis.
Jim Hartnett ran the Ann Arbor Marathon and finished with a time of 3:33:41.
This one really gives me pause; I ran 27 minutes faster in November. By myself, with no aid stations, nothing. Just what I carried. After yesterday, I’m thinking of doing more cross training, shorter events. Running for enjoyment, not for time. The point is to be healthy and long-lived.
Kory Wnuk ran the Anna’s Grace Quarter Marathon and finished in a time of 49:09. This was a personal record by 1:31.
I woke at 4:30 AM to begin my race morning ritual, which started with a banana. Very soon thereafter, I had severe stomach issues. By the time The Hammer and I reached the race venue, I was not feeling as bad.
The race started about 15 minutes later than the posted start time, as we were waiting for the 1-mile race to complete. When the race finally kicked off, my right Achilles was a bit tight. However, I went out with the lead crew like a boss…. When I realized my pace was at 6:05 min/mile, I lifted the hammer and cruised at a pace of 7:35 min/mile. At this point in the race it was foggy (70 °F and 100% Humidity).
The course was an out-and-back route that involved circumnavigating a parking lot on the LSU Campus. I was cautious not to awkwardly step on any rocks that would result in a twisted ankle or worse. On my way back toward the finish line, the sun was intermittently out, in an attempt to cause me to melt. However, I did see The Hammer, which gave me the surge of energy I needed.
At about mile 4, the guy behind me started talking to me…giving me encouragement. Then some whippersnapper blew by us. At about mile 5 I picked up pace and began closing the gap, but he was really far ahead of me. Somewhere with between 300m to 400m remaining, I went into a sprint. The end result was that I caught the guy who had passed earlier and beat him by 2 seconds. I crossed the finish line at a 5:27 min/mile pace. I guess that my sustained balls-to-the-wall sprint did the trick.
I finished 1st in my age group, and 4th overall. Despite the heat and humidity, I PR’d this distance by 1 minute and 31 seconds. The Hammer improved her time walking this distance by more than 6 minutes.
Catherine Hayes ran the Wicklow Gaol Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 1:56:47.
I was expecting this course to be a tough hilly one with plenty of climbs – even so – it was tougher than I expected! I should have studied the course profile more carefully. That said, it was a good tune up race for what will be a tough but beautiful marathon in Connemara on the West Coast of Ireland on April 23rd. I am not expecting a PB there either but do plan to thoroughly enjoy my fourth marathon.
Maad Khalil ran the Merthyr Half Marathon with a finishing time of 01:47:42.
This was my target race to break my half marathon time. I however managed to achieve that on a half marathon tune up Race. What made this one special is that it was a lot tougher than the one I have done two weeks ago and I still managed to get under 01:50:00 which is a big improvement from 02:03:00 that I had last year for the same event.
What made it extra special is the last 3 miles where I worked with another runner as a team to keep going at a decent pace uphill. He would pass me then egg me on to keep the pace then I would do the same when I pass him. When we got to the last mile the race was on :o) . We both stepped it up and it was a battle till about the last mile when I managed to dig a bit deeper and sneak past to finish . I thanked the guy after the race for the comoradre we established during the race and for his support during the run.
Very enjoyable sport event.
Lucy Cheng ran the Rock ‘n ‘Roll San Francisco Half Marathon and finished in 1:59:03.
This course is rather hilly, so I had no expectations for a PR. My primary goal was to use it as a tune up to Boston to practice race day conditions, fueling, newer shoes, mental game, etc.
I decided at the last minute to run by feel and effort. What I did achieve is a course PR by over 5 minutes (ran same race 2 times before this one today). I finished the race strong and felt I could have pushed much harder. On top of this, I had so much fun! I even stopped to take a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge and high fived so many people along the course. I stayed strong mentally and was just happy to be out there today.
Kathryn de Souza ran the Parkinson’s Foundation Run 5k, finishing this distance in the time of 25:04.
Michael Parker ran the Encinitas Half Marathon and finished with a time of 1:40:03, which was a PR by 2 seconds!
First time I’ve raced without my Garmin and I had not intended to run that fast. I was using this as a long tempo not expecting to get this close to 1:40. I probably had a high 1:38 in me today had I pushed harder.
Lydia Spotts ran the Skidaway Island Marathon and finished this race in the time of 5:48:22, which was a PR!
This was my first marathon, so I’m thrilled I finished. I’ll get better next time.
Simeon Bayles ran the Philadelphia Love Run Half Marathon and finished in a time of 1:26:31. This was a new personal record by 3:39.
Good result today. My Half Marathon PR was a bit stale as I hadn’t really trained for one in the last three years. That said I was a little off my goal for the race… under 1:25… which admittedly was a stretch. I fought for it out there. I was a little quick through 5 miles but I was trying to take advantage of a tailwind while I had it. I was in touch with my goal through ten miles but I just couldn’t pick it up into the end. The last mile and a half were brutal as I slowed about 20s per mile but I know I left every ounce of effort I had out there today and am happy with my race and progress. I wanted to give a shout out to coach Danny for getting me to the start line with a shot at my goal. I had a tough winter filled with viruses and a very busy schedule that kept us juggling training schedules on a weekly basis. I’m fit, healthy, happy and looking forward to some more racing this spring.
Fred Beers ran the Baker to Vegas and finished the race event in the time of 56:07.
This was a 120 mile relay race from Baker, CA to Las Vegas, NV. There are 20 runners on a team. My leg was 6.4 miles long. It was a pretty good run although the 1200 feet of elevation gain was tough. I was 2 minutes slower than last year unfortunately. I am planning on running this race next year and improving my time. 🙂
Bill Nitzberg ran the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Francisco Half Marathon in 2:02:57, which was a PR!
Decided to make my “easy” long run more fun by joining my friend who runs this race every year — it was really great to run together, which we did the whole way. And, who doesn’t love running across the Golden Gate bridge? Despite hills and the fact that I really was trying to run “easy”, the excitement and companionship resulted in a PB for me.
Anne Hardy ran the Rock’n’Roll SF Half Marathon race in San Francisco.
Omg! I was expecting hills and I was not disappointed… No PR today but I feel I ran smarter than ever before: keeping a decent pace throughout, no crash, getting nutrition (and salt) regularly… I was able to keep a good form, running as fast as possible uphill and trying to recover fast going downhill. I’ll break the 1:50 some day ?. I feel I am getting closer 🙂 Thx to you all!
John Parisella ran the Run for your life 5K and completed this distance in the time of 20:27.
Top 10 (9th)
1st in Age group.
77.4 % Age Graded Time.I thought I’d pass a guy who’d passed me @ 2.75m just before the finish line, did so, and later realized he was in my age group so, if I’d have let him stay ahead at the finish, he’d have won the age group! I was happy about that because it’s been the other result a few times.
Christian Messerschmidt ran the New South Trail Marathon with a finishing time of 4:12:00.
Tough trail race, got second.
Morgan Daulton ran the Perfect 10 Miler and finished with a time of 1:24:51. This was a personal record by 2:49.
I was trying to use this as an indicator of how far I’ve come in one year, because I did this race last year. My PR pace for a 10 miler is 8:46. My PR pace for this specific course is 9:00 because of the insane hills. I came in at a 8:29 pace AND got 3rd in my age group!! WOW! I’m just really pleased with how far I’ve come in a year. Thanks RC.
