Kristin Morales ran the Father 5k and finished this distance in the time of 28:01.
Glad to get back in the swing.
Christine Lee ran the Before the Fourth 5k and finished with a time of 23.14.
1st Female Overall. Did not wear watch during the race.
Pros: Strategic on speed and pacing during hills and flat surfaces. Able to get split time.
Improvements: Work on pylometrics jumps longer to not be as afraid to gain speed for a long time l.
Beth Montgomery ran the NYRR Pride Run 4 mile and finished this race in the time of 39:24.
I wasn’t feeling my best, I gave blood on Wednesday and have been coughing since. It was a warm humid day. I decided to just run it with no expectations and see how I felt. After the first mile, I felt comfortable and got into a flow. I ran with the speed of traffic, which helped push me along. Despite the non-optimal conditions, I had a great race and really enjoyed the experience.
Sal Adamo ran a 1 Mile race and completed this distance in the time of 6:00. This was a PR by 5 seconds!
I have been sleeping 5-6 hours per night for the last 3 or 4 nights so I woke up feeling tired today and felt tired throughout the day leading into the race. My HR for my warm up today was 5bpm higher (138 vs. 133) at a slightly faster pace (4 secs) than yesterday for the same distance. Conditions were good and the race route was fast – it was slightly downhill. I went out too fast – not sure what my split was but maybe mid-5’s.
Andre Arseneau ran the Ben Buffett 5k race, finishing this distance in the time of 24:20.
Perfect conditions. Fun people. I’m just getting older and slower! It felt like uphill both ways! Placed 2nd in my age group but 3 minutes over my PR from just 3 years ago.
Christina Kach ran the Town & Country Half Marathon with a finishing time of 2:06:33.
To find some good – My outfit was comfortable and cool, gave me no issues, chafing etc…Thank heavens I brought my own water & powerade (they had a stop every 2 miles but it was too warm and that wouldn’t have been enough). My ice bandana also was helpful.
Started out too fast, but reigned it right back in for the next 4 miles. Everything was fine and uneventful until mile 5 – two steep uphills in a row that I ended up walking the steepest parts. I made it up a little cruising the downhills in 6 really strong – but when I came to that mile 7 marker at the end of the downhill stretch, I was done. Other races this year were hard, but my body kept moving as my brain was like “yup it hurts but kept going” by mile 10, I was taking 20 second walk breaks every so often. The forecast said 66 degrees with 85+ humidity, but it felt SO much hotter than 66. I had salt tabs every 30 minutes, and GU every 20. When I finished, I did a good job rehydrating and did so all day.
Tony Malinauskas ran the War-X OCR National Champs 12k and finished in a time of 3:57:48.
Ran the National OCR championships in Open division instead of competitively to do recon since it was first time for me at this race and my training was interrupted a lot this year by illness and injuries. Good thing too — this was a beatdown of a race. Many obstacles require new skills of me, and heavy rain made the many steep hills slick. But, my running was OK, and I finished in top 38% despite being a decade older than anyone finishing quicker than me.
Sue Dejesus ran the Medal Madness 10K and finished this race event in the time of 1:21:54.
It was very hot and very humid. It was a riverside, asphalt-paved, winding trail set up as a 3.54-mile loop that the 10K folks ran twice, with only one aid station at the start, which also served as the turnaround. I ran continuously, even though I started out too fast and slowed down with each mile. My right hamstring started cramping one hour into the race, and then my left one did too, with about half a mile to go. I was able to keep going while trying to stretch them out as I ran. The cramping didn’t last long. My PR for this distance is 1:04:56 in 2021.
