Barbara Hannaford ran the Citrus Heritage Run 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 1:17:31. This was a personal record by two minutes!
First race of the year, and I’m using it as sort of a baseline to measure my improvement. I still walk a bit, but the energy of an actual RACE makes me keep going even though my HR is up way too high!
Also special because my friends backed out of the race, and I’ve been not feeling well, so it would’ve been really really easy to not do it, but I DID!
Vijay Vadali ran the Resolution Run 5k and finished with a time of 23:24. This was a PR by 3 seconds!
Good start to the year. I didn’t run the race exactly as I had wanted, going out a bit too fast and doing positive splits instead of negative. I wasn’t sure what shape I was in and I was overconfident that I would get a PR. I had to slow down quite a bit. Mental game still continues to bother me and something to work on over the year. Sprinted the last 200 meters and the last hundred was really a mad rush – I really wanted to catch up the kid running in front of me but she got the better of me.
The chip time on the website suggests I ran slower than my PR in May 2024 but my watch says I ran longer and thus faster. I think there’s a course distance difference. For 3.11, the time in May 2024 was 23:17 @ 7:28/mi and today’s race was 23:13 @7:27/mi. Just a second per mile but for now I will trust my watch and accept that I have gotten a PR However, since this is more of a time-trial/benchmarking kind of a race, I will take it!
Brandilyn Carpenter ran the Bridgeland 10 miler with a finishing time of 2:22:20.
Ankle gave me issues for much of the second half. Humid af, sunny for most of it. Some serious winds. Actually winds were feast or famine. Either ridiculous gusts or nothing for long stretches. Wasn’t last. Mental was the main culprit. I just mentally couldn’t stay in the zone. My ankle eased up about mile 9 so my last mile was better, not great but better.
Drew Bennett ran the Charles River Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 1:28:29.
5th overall- official time 1:28:29. Cold, but temps felt better than 2 weeks ago – Winds were manageable. Happy with the splits overall, but really want to improve this upcoming Spring. Nice after race party in Boston!
