Abdulla Nabeel ran the Bahrain Half Marathon 2019 and finished with a time of 1:43:18, which was a PR!
A great experience. I’m happy for achieving my target!
Kirsten Tully ran the SF Hot Chocolate 15K and finished this distance in the time of 1:37:12. This was a personal record by 6:11.
This was my first race after not running much in Nov/Dec and having a disappointing half marathon in Oct. I wasn’t expecting much, perhaps a 10:45 pace. If I was feeling really good then maybe a 10:30. To come in at 10:26 (with a boost of energy to run faster over the finish line) was totally unexpected. I feel more confident to continue with training and know that I can do even better next time.
Val Hinsperger ran the Richmond Road Race 5k with a finishing time of 26:14.
RUNNER’S CONNECT INJURY PROGRAM GETS GOLD STAR!!!
To understand how special this race was, I have to go back to late September where I ran a 10 year PR in a half marathon. Following that race, I did not give myself any time to recover, did way to much physical work and promptly blew out my back, achilles and knee. Also, I did very little of the strength work except for swimming.
Thanks to the incredible support from the RC team – no ” I told you so “but some gentle prodding, I sat out for two months and did strength training as well as a cross traning program that RC coaches designed for me. I was also fortunate to speak with Dylan who guided me through the injury process with empathy and a reality check. I have run for the past 3 weeks at the long slow pace that I stuck to.
Today , I did a test of the waters and focused on being very cautious. And YAY – while by no means a PR, the race results are really in the splits. I embodied one of my favourite workouts that RC gives us – the Cutdown and did a perfect workout with negative splits on the last 3 k – each 5 seconds faster than the last one. I also focused on cadence and not overstriding. First in my age group in -14 C . Thank you Thank you!
Jelena Sommer ran the Virtuel 5K and finished in a time of 24:15, which was a PR by 3 minutes!
This was the fastest 5K I ever run! I have a mental blockage about running fast which I am trying to overcome but it’s really hard. So I started at 5:00/km gradually increasing the pace to 4:41/km. When I was finished I felt I still got fuel in the tank and I only gave 2/3 of what was possible physically. Maybe trying to do this kind of virtual 5K races will make me more confident that I actually can run faster.
Logan Berry ran the Doha Marathon and finished this race in the time of 3:11:32, which was a PR by 1:32.
I have overcome a lot of trials since my last marathon and this race was in tough conditions. For me to PR at all tells me I am still in the fight at age 40.
David Willard ran the Dopey Challenge 10K, finishing this distance in the time of 00:45:47.
This was a Disney race so fun as usual. Most Disney races are crowded and this was no exception. While in corral A the first mile was a bit crowded so slower out the first mile then expected. But negative splits throughout. Last split under 7:00 pace. Mostly flat course, just a couple overpasses, but also had a couple sharp turns. Goal was 7:30 pace and stretch goal of under 45:00. Finished in 45:47 (7:22 pace) so beat goal and just missed stretch goal. Placed 2nd in age group. Overall pretty happy with results. 2 more races to go.
Tony Lahnston ran a 5k Tune-up race and finished in a time of 19:47.
Svetlana Hemsley ran the Dark Moors 10 mile and completed this distance in the time of 1.33.32, which was a PR!
First race! I was a bit cautious because of the flu and temperature and found the middle miles quite tough but did it! I think all the training and coaching I received here have definitely helped! Thank you guys!!!
Jason Howanitz ran the Servis1st Bank First Light Mobile Marathon and finished in 3:23. This was a new personal record by 6 minutes!
Had my wife and girls at the finish line. Having to move races was tough mentally but the course beat me today.
Kevin Long ran the Robert Moses State Park – Winter Series 5k and finished with a time of 23:26.
Improving within my age group. Missed the podium by 3 secs. Last week it was 8 secs so I am making progress with two races left in the series.
Louise Apsey ran the Stubbington 10k and finished this race in the time of 42:14, which was a PR by 1:26.
Ran Stubbington 10k, so pleased and a little surprised but did a PR by 1:26! I been training with RC for 8 weeks now I’m training for a marathon but had this 10k booked in. I have been doing a lot more easy miles in training and although I’m constantly reading how running slow will make me faster, as a runner have found the slow runs hard to get my head around, but I’m now a complete believer. I wasn’t really sure what I was aiming for today but after looking at the how to race section, I decided to follow the instructions and rather than go off fast and try and get some time in the bank, I held back for the first two miles. After that I couldn’t believe how comfortable the next four miles felt, as instructed I was focusing on the girls ahead of me reeling them in and that felt really good. It’s normally me being overtaken. Really looking forward to seeing what I can do in my half marathon in four weeks time and more importantly London Marathon ?
Rick Janss ran the Mobile First Light Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:39:11.
I don’t know if I can classify this as a PR. I actually ran a 1:38:40 at a local half last year but the course was short 12.9 miles. I ran it at a 7:39 average pace. This one had a slightly longer time (and the correct distance) but my average pace actually decreased to 7:33/mile so I’m guessing this should count.
I decided to stay with the 1:40 pacer and it seems to have worked well. I stayed with him even when my body wanted to slow down. At the 12th mile marker I decided to treat the run like a track interval session. I started going very hard and counting down imaginary laps. It made my last mile the fastest. It was worth it.
I’m also pleased it went so well since I seem to have caught a bug which has me very congested. Knowing I did this run helps my confidence with my upcoming marathon. Thanks and God Bless the coaches and members of runners connect.
Aude Hofleitner ran the Hot Chocolate 15K and finished with a time of 1:06:11. This was a PR by 1 minute 43 seconds!
Fifth year doing this race and it’s been great to get faster every single year. The race profile is tricky with 3 miles down, 4 miles flat and finishing the last 2.3 miles the elevation getting back up. This year was also a bit windy!
I was really happy with how I felt on the flat, keeping a 7 min/mile which felt “”comfortably hard””. I slowed down more than I wished in the up (I wanted to keep under 7:45 but had mile 8 at 7:53) but was still able to have a good finishing kick under 7. Overall, this gives me confidence for the Kaiser half in 4 weeks, as I did this one without really tapering this week and still felt pretty strong.
Results:
1:06:11 (7:07 min/mile)
83rd (out of 6172)
15th women (out of 4287)
6th age group (out of 586)
Tim Styka ran the Disney World Marathon and finished this race in the time of 4:17:10.
I was able to keep the streak alive. I am still “Perfectly Dopey”.
Alan Kearins ran the Ballina Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:28:11.
8 laps of a 1.6mi route. Quite hilly and the wind was in our faces. Started ok and when seen pace was quicker than planned for mile 1 (6:15) slowed back to run on feel. The aim was to try and run 6:30s and for first few miles that was going to plan but paces dropped back and reassessed to run 6:30-6:40 pace. Last 3 miles felt strong and tried to pick up when I felt I could. Overall aerobically felt good at no point was I gasping for air, just felt I had one pace up to last 3 miles when I felt I could pick it up slightly. Overall a good tune up but course and conditions no way conducive to fast times.
Fred Beers ran the Disney World Marathon and finished this race in the time of 3:06:54.
This was my first multi-day race so I was really happy to be able to complete it with what I consider pretty good times. I didn’t PR but considering that I ran 4 races I was happy with my times.
Elizabeth Clayton ran the Disney Marathon Weekend (Half Marathon) and finished with a time of 3:15:01.
This was just a crazy fun run with absolutely NO expectations of a PR. My family made me wear a costume, stand in long lines for pictures with Disney characters, and stop for every photo op conceivable. Disney was not on my list of runs to do again, but I have to say that I actually enjoyed running with the family and leaving all the expectations behind.
