Team RunnersConnect runs strong in cold weather conditions bringing in 7 PRs and several age group awards

Kristina Schmidt ran the Fort Langley Historic Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:16:57. This was a personal record by 3:32.

I am very happy with my results this race. I woke up in the morning to find snow on the ground, but the sun came up and it was a beautiful day and this course was out in the country so there was some awesome views!

I managed a PR on this by over 3 minutes, which I am so happy about, considering the roads were quite icy and this course was MUCH more hilly then my first half marathon. Everything went well, my stomach didn’t cause me problems, I stepped up my pace in the last few miles of the run. The very last mile we gained some elevation and my quads were drained by that point, so my last split is something I’ll have to work on in the future. Overall very proud of myself and this race. 🙂

Dan Rosen ran the Old Fashioned Ten Miler and finished this distance in the time of 1:17:59.

Never ran a 10-miler before, but enjoyed this distance and felt good hitting my target splits, finishing stronger than I started (frequently a challenge…).

Bhavana Mocherla ran a Half Marathon race in Austin and finished in a time of 2.51. This was a massive PR by 30 minutes!

Training, and coaches helping with my schedule, motivation from runners connect. I started race off thinking its going to be hard one, as it was drizzling, roads were slippery had 34 hills last 2 hills were killer. I remembered one of my coaches at runners connect said start as slow as I can till mile 8 and then push my self till finish line. That’s what I did started at 14.11 pace till mile 8 then went all out. Finished average pace at 13.04 that’s my overall best in 6 half I ran. Still working on how to deal with stomach cramps and feeling that UI need to go to potty when I am running. I am glad I joined Runners connect.

Andre Arseneau ran the Hypothermic 1/2 Marathon and finished this race in the time of 1:54:47.

The race lived up to its name – it was cold! -18c, -25c windchill. The roads were pure ice. I would have been faster had I worn skates! Hot water & gatorade at the water stops. Everything from the waist down is sore, from just maintaining stability on the ice. Happy with my time in the conditions. (And a really good brunch afterwards.)

Tony Malinauskas ran the Spartan Super race and finished with a time of 2:05:14.

I started my obstacle race season early by escaping the cold winter in the Mid-West for the warmth of the AZ desert. I finished 19th of 50 in my AG for this 8.2 mile race in the Competitive (not Open) Division. My minimum goal was to place high enough to qualify for the North American championships, which I did as I needed to be in the top 25.

Jerry Kargman ran the Cherry Tree 10 Mile and completed this race event in the time of 2:06:26, which was a PR!

While it was a race, I went in determined to treat it as a training run, intended to scope out the course where I’ll run an HM in a few weeks, and the time reflects that. I did stop 4 times for bio breaks, so the running time was probably around 2 hours even, or a 12:00 min/mile pace rather than the recorded 12:39 pace. Coincidentally, that pace is virtually identical to what I ran in the Queens HM in November – a longer race and I am in decidedly better shape now. In other words, today was not a good effort or a good run.

Casey Columbus ran a Marathon race in Greenbelt, MD and finished in a time of 3:39:57. This was a massive personal record by 30 minutes!

Major PR on this one! Felt ready and in shape. Couldn’t beat the weather either! There were a good bit of hills but nothing I wasn’t ready for. It was a serious of three loops with mileage to get there and back. I was very consistent on each of the loops and it was wonderful because there was access to water and Gatorade and port-a-potties every 2 miles! I highly recommend this race! Very small, no pacers which was nice because it made it low key.

Super excited as well because I placed second in my age group, 6th female over all and 50th overall out 159. Thank you all so much for all of the coaching help, tips, articles. etc. Couldn’t do it without you!

Susan Spencer ran the Old-Fashioned Ten Miler with a finishing time of 1:19:54, which was a PR!

I’ve raced a lot of half marathons but I can’t recall a 10-miler, so I sort of treated this like a half. It’s a mental race – lots of rolling hills, so I tried to keep it steady and work the down hills, picking off people here and there. We played the usual leap-frog back-and-forth in a small group. I squeaked in under 8-minute miles (Garmin pace 7:55 for 10.09; official 7:59 for 10 flat), which is about where I thought I’d be.

The amenities here are special. Hot food, sandwiches, great swag bags, a raffle by bib number (I won a few Rachael Ray cookware pieces :-)), and ginormous finishers medals. Coming in 3rd in age group F 50-59, I got a winner’s pin to attach to the medal. A good way to burn off some of the February blahs.

Lisa Sluiter ran the Charlotte 10 Miler, finishing this distance in the time of 1:08:31.

4th place overall Female
1st Place overall Masters
Just 3 seconds off last years time.

Good Friends and running buddy placed 3rd just 15 seconds ahead of me. It was cool to grab 3rd and 4th place with her. 2nd and 3rd would have been sweet but we got out kicked a mile from the finish by a girl that was half our age so we had to settle for 3rd and 4th place.

Kelly Edmondson ran the Virginia Beach Distance Race and finished with a time of 4:16:05, which was a PR!

Well, this was only a PR since it was my first 50k but it went very well. We had to run a 2.3 mile loop about 14 times and my final loop was my fastest, so I feel like I paced well.

Travis Dowell ran the Boston Buildup Fairfield 20K and completed this distance in the time of 2:01:43. This was a new personal record by 09:10.

Last year I ran this race and could barely run 12.4 miles. Three half marathons, two marathons, lots of RC training miles and exercises later, I felt very comfortable really pushing hard on this race, even though it was raining the whole way. This is the longest race I have completed at less than 10 minutes a mile at 9:49 per mile, versus 10:32 per mile last year.

Mihir Saswadkar ran the Hiranandani Thane Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:23:44.

First competitive Half in more than 2 years. Fairly undulating course, which I hadn’t anticipated, hence it made it more challenging.
