Sascha Fennel ran the 1000M Hercules race and finished with a time of 03:45, which was a PR!
Two races this weekend as part of the Monaco Run weekend. Saturday it was time for a 1000m race. I had to sit out one week prior to that because of calf problems. I decided to start anyway with the wish to beat my PR of 03:45 in my only other 1000m race from July 2018. TI applied a totally different strategy. Instead of playing it safe I went out really fast. After 300m reality set in. My legs became heavy and I started to slow down. My half time split had me at 01:40. End time 03:45. For the first time in my life I left the race disappointed. The fatigue made me totally forget my goal. I only remembered that I had intended to PR about 10-15 minutes after the race. But, this was not the kind of run anyway that you want to remember as a PR run. Next try at the 1000m distance possibly in July. The good news : my calf felt ok.
Kelly Walling ran the Palm Desert Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:42:58. This was a personal record by 3 minutes!
I am happy with how today went. 3 minute improvement on my PR for the half. First 4 miles focused on steady pace and felt good. The hill at mile 8 of the course had me sucking wind over the top and I never felt as good after that. Was able to reel people in all the way to the finish, but got passed about 800m to the line.
John Dillon ran the Sweetheart Run 5k and finished this distance in the time of 31:20.
1st race ever!
Mary Winnett ran the Mardi Gras Mambo 15k and finished this race in the time of 1:25:40. This was a PR by 2:40 minutes!
This morning’s race was a wonderful surprise. After last Sunday’s full, I had no expectations. I felt great for most of the run. Got tired around mile 7 or so, but that’s not surprising. I am very happy with my pace. Came in fourth in my age group.
Tonja Heller ran the Diva’s Half Marathon – Diva’s Running Series and finished in 1:43:20.
It was my daughters first half marathon:-) She was a Rock Star! The course was the greatest challenge. Because of the rain, the course had to be adjusted. Mile 4-5 & 9-10 had a very steep incline. Had we ran the original course, I could have pred. I got 7th overall, 6th woman overall, and 1st place in my age division. I could have pushed myself harder during training. I take it easy for fear of getting injured. Next race I feel confident I can run it in 1:40:00.
Tom Hoy ran the London Half Marathon and finished in a time of 1:28:21. This was a new personal record by 4 minutes!
First time I’ve had a proper go at a half since started training in December. Pleased with time given I’ve had 2-3 weeks out injured. Was half hoping to break 1:30 so to beat it comfortably was promising!
Alexandre Fagundes ran the Half Marathon of Sao Paulo and finished with a time of 1:38:34, which was a PR by 19 seconds!
Planned to do this run on power, it kind of worked. It is a hard circuit to pace, it has it´s ups and downs, not super hilly, but end up summing 363m (1190ft) along bridges and hills.
So, my plan was to do 310W for 4km, than speed up to 315 and try to do 320W on the last 2k. I went downhill on those 310W and, by the end of the 4k was doing a 4:32/km pace (my average plan was 4:43/km), so I realized I have overestimated the power and changed strategy. What happened was that I was always faster than the others downhill, slower uphill, and in rhythm on the flat. In end, the race ended 200m before stryd, so cut it short I did some seconds faster than my last PR.
About nutrition, I did a surplus of 200cal on friday, 1000 cal yesterday, so were pretty much loaded in the morning. During the race had two gels at 40 and 80 minutes and drank water every 20 minutes (training for the marathon). Unlike last year that I totally bonked around 20k, I was pretty much ok until the end, I think nutrition I nailed now.
Jill Blackburn ran the Warm Up Columbus Half Marathon and finished in 1:49:29. This was a PR by 1 minute!
It was a mental struggle from signing up to the race, all the way to mile 13, with the fear of failure. I worked it out and had a good result!
Jon Whitehouse ran the Chingford League at Victoria Park five mile and finished in a time of 30:08, which was a PR by 1 second!
Official time 30:08. Not under the magic 30 but marginally faster than last year, so feeling pretty satisfied especially as I am not training for this distance. Started sensibly and then gradually reeled in various runners. I let things slip in the fourth mile despite telling myself before the race that this is where I would dig in and push on. I should have realised when my breathing become more relaxed I was easing up too much. Looking forward to targetting a 5-mile or 10K in summer once my marathon is out the way.
Aniko Belim ran the Galveston Marathon with a finishing time of 3:34:41. This was a personal record by 6 minutes!
Galveston Marathon was a hot, humid, windy, but pancake flat race. My ankle pain wasn’t too bad thankfully, and I was able to finish 1st in my age group, and 3rd overall women. Oh, and BQ! Thank you coaches for all the help, I can’t be happier!
Bill Hunter ran the Fort Langley Historic Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 1:47:01.
I signed up for this particular race because I wanted to do hill work at pace for Boston. It started with almost 12 kms of climbing before turning back…some of it rolling, but a net ascent. The major descents were so steep (>15%) and comparatively short, that there just never seemed to be a section to coast; they hurt as much as the climbs. The black ice on the road also added an element of danger and excitement to keep everyone focused! I tried to hold MP, but couldn’t – came up 2 minutes short. Probably one of the two hardest HMs I have ever run; the winning time was 1:23 (in a series where it is typically 1:12-15 ish), so I do feel like I got a great workout.
Ryan Kroll ran the Heartbreaker Half Marathon and finished this race event in the time of 1:29:45. This was a PR by 2 1/2 minutes!
Ran a great time despite cold and hills.
Sascha Fennel ran a 5k race and finished this distance in the time of 22:36.
My second race of the Monaco Run weekend. After a 1000m race that left me disappointed Sunday was the day to do something good. Perfect weather, beautiful setting in Monaco. In my first 5K race ever I was able to run the kind of race I wanted to run. I knew I was not in top shape after having to sit out 3,5 of the last 6 weeks. but it felt already better than the previous day. No PR but a race and a performance I can feel proud of. I would love to do another one in better shape and see how much time I will be able to scratch of this premiere performance.
Keith Shinabargar ran the Karugamo Family 5K, finishing this distance in the time of 0:27:10.
Training was disrupted by a few family and health things, but I thought I did alright considering.
Marilyn Rosario ran the Cherry Tree 10 miler and finished with a time of 2:03:46. This was a new personal record by 4 minutes!
I just felt great and maybe it was hydration since it’s been something I been working on. This race is 3 loops of prospect park which is hilly. Not sure if it was all my strength and cardio I been doing. I been following the plan the best I could!
Laurie Householder ran a Half Marathon race and finished with a time of 1:31:44, which was a PR!
Wow- a tough day! But still much to celebrate at this tune-up half! Super windy- first half was almost all headwind (~15mph), but sections of the second half were just as bad. My ankle injury from my fall marathon reared it’s ugly head about 5 miles in, making the last 8 miles a real sufferfest. I debated stopping and even walked 3 times for a few seconds, rotating my ankle and trying to assess if I was doing further damage or if it was just a “suck it up, buttercup” kind of day. Turns out it was a suck it up day. Despite all that, I won 1st Female Overall (and, I think, 4th, maybe 5th, overall amongst all men & women), and snagged a new PR! While I finished about a minute off my time goal, I’ll take that as a victory for today and cross fingers that I can baby this ankle a few days and work towards that 1:30 goal!
