Joel Turkel ran the Rockport Triple Threat 5k and finished this distance in the time of 20:23, which was a PR by 0:02.
Far and away the best part of the day was watching my 6 year old twins crush their previous PRs during a one mile fun run! My race was fun but tough. It’s a hilly 5K with most of the uphill in the second of the race. I managed to hang on for a two second PR and 3rd in my age group. I’m looking forward to doing some more 5K training and running a flat Fall 5k!
Mohammad Khan ran the Water to Wine Half Marathon and finished with a time of 1:41:31.
Rodrigo Jara Piccardo ran the MIA – Maratón Internacional de Asunción 10k and finished in 39:01. This was a PR by 20 seconds!
All I can say is that perseverance pays off, a year ago breaking 40 minutes in the 10k seemed impossible to me, this is the second time I finish below 40″ and is a PR by 20 seconds. I am very happy, thank you RC!
Bill Leppert ran the Pinnacle 5K and finished in a time of 20:18.
Age group winner 50-59 at 59. I was 45 seconds off goal. It had been a stressful week but I felt good before the race and I was a little surprised at the difficulty I was having early on and through out the race. Temperature and RH were good, the course had some long gradual hills but I don’t think they were enough to use for an excuse. 🙂 I was Third place age graded. A 50 year old who got third, which gave me the age group winner, age graded at 16:30 my AG time is 16:31. The winner was 16:23. I think I will start using AG numbers more they can cover my off days better. 🙂
Zac Clark ran the Bedlam 5K and finished this race in the time of 25:46, which was a PR!
It’s been so long since I’ve actually raced in a 5K I couldn’t tell you if this was a PR or by how much. But I felt, in a word, GREAT, about the race. I tried to start put conservatively at around 8:30 mm which was great because the first mile had a mixture of slight incline and a bridge over RR tracks. I think that starting slower allowed me to pick up the paces over the next 2.1 miles. I was able to run the 2nd mile at 8:10 mm and the 3rd in 7:57 mm. For the last 1/10th my watch clocked me at 7:00 mm. Negative splits the whole time. This was good enough for 52nd overall and 2nd in my age group, earning me a nice pint glass.
I think that looking back I would have been able to go out faster, but not knowing what I know now, I made the right decision and executed a good plan. Thanks to Claire and Danny for helping this come together and thanks for the support of so many other runners. It’s back to the marathon distance training for me but I’m glad I was able to do this and proud of the effort.
Andrea Thrush ran the Grings Mill 5K with a finishing time of 24:34. This was a personal record by 1:22.
This was a huge PR for me. I did not expect to shave off more than 10 – 15 seconds from my previous PR, let alone almost a minute and 30 seconds. I am hoping that with the professional guidance of Runners Connect, big things could happen.
Lorena Trevino ran the San Francisco Marathon and finished with a time of 4:18:09.
I was hoping to break my PR, but couldn’t. I did break my PR for 5K, 10K and Half Marathon so those were the good news. This race was special because I got injured end of May and I had to stop training for the remainder of May and the whole month of June so this was discouraging but I always saw myself running my race and getting my medals (I got two because of the SF Marathon 40th anniversary and being a +40 miles participant), and so I did. Probably if I had trained that month I missed I would’ve reached my goal, but ultimately the goal became crossing the finish line. I’m happy with my first half results, I would definitely like to improve my endurance for the second half.
Joelle Casteix ran the WW Challenge 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 54:55. This was a new personal record by 3 minutes!
My last 10K was a lovely 68 degrees on a beautiful late fall day. This race, which was in the blazing sun, was between 92 and 95 degrees at the start … and I was a whole different species of runner. Without your coaching, I would never have even finished the race, let alone shaved three minutes off of my time. If this race had been 68 degrees, who knows what I would have accomplished?
Beth Wiltshire ran the Music in Motion 5K and completed this distance in the time of 35:53.
Weather was cool for August, I did a longer warmup than usual. That afternoon I was already feeling sore in my gluts, shins, and arch muscles, I believe from the unusual effort required in walking FAST vs. the aerobic pace.
Jon Knutson ran the Minnesota Half Marathon, RBC Race for the Kids and finished in a time of 1:30:06. This was a PR by 4 minutes!
I ran my own race. This was my second half marathon, and I set a 4-minute PR (20 seconds per mile) over my first half marathon 4.5 months ago. I’ve been working really hard, but with the help of RunnersConnect, I’ve also been training and racing smarter.
I had a pie in the sky idea that I could come close to breaking 1:30 if the stars aligned. But this was just a tune-up, I wasn’t fully recovered, and before the race, I decided I would be happy to break 1:32. But the weather was perfect, and I could (almost) not be happier with the result!
Kory Wnuk ran the Angel’s 5K and finished with a time of 21:44, which was a PR by 1:06.
It was sunny, hot and humid. I like this race because it gives me a chance to run against in-laws and out-laws. From the start I took the lead and held it through the finish line. I thought I had started my Garmin at the start of the race, but found that I had not at about 0.7 miles into the race. I did not let this error adversely impact my focus. My finishing time was a 1:06 PR over the last time I ran this race. Additionally, this was a 0:32 PR over my best 5K time ever, which was set earlier this year in significantly cooler weather.
Special thanks goes out to all of my RC Coaches and Teammates for their guidance and support when things were not happening in an optimal fashion.
