Sadhna Vora ran the Beach to Beacon 10k and finished this distance in the time of 50:03, which was a PR!
Beautiful views at the finish area! Hot and hilly race, but really fun! Beach to Beacon…my first 10K!:-)
Stuart Wood ran the Tamworth Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:27:52.
Tamworth is a great small local run festival. The course rolls along the river and through the roads along the local sporting fields. It rolls but is quite flat. This was my first run since August 2019. At the point I had a lot of kms in my legs and was getting ready for a full marathon in the following September. This is my first half marathon since then. However I’ve raced the distance heaps of times when I was younger.
Had a solid run into 9km, 58:51, sitting comfortably on 6:32/km (average) for the first 9km. Legs feeling good in 6:30-6:40 range for first 9km.
Still felt good, but pace slowed for the back 12km, sitting in 7:04-7:41. Comfortable, ran the whole way, very steady. A bit hard to feel like I was pacing well in the back 12km. Couldn’t get back under 7min/km. Delighted with my run. This was about the time I predicted.
RunnersConnect – what an amazing program. I have only been doing it for the last 5 weeks. Love the structure, progression and strength workouts.
Good news, I’m not too sore or stiff since the run. Gel wise , Endura gels, 15min before, then 40, 70 ,100, 130. I didn’t feel like I wise ever close to hitting the wall. Lots of fuel and energy available for the run.
Tom Wybaillie ran the Belgian Championship 10K Road with a finishing time of 35:27. This was a personal record by 2 minutes!
Big PR on the 10K. 98th overall & 10th M-40. See race result on https://my.raceresult.com/213083/results#5_8C7D8F
Eric Paradis ran the Sunflower 6K, finishing this distance in the time of 38:33.
Very crowded race, very hilly and hot. Big downhill at the start, tried to keep with the 10:00 pacer. Most of the run was in direct sun and it was pushing 90. Melted. Long hill at 2.75 with the heat was brutal. The last .25 mile was through a sunflower field, which was nice, but I got stuck in a small group and could not get around them. Happy overall though!
Luc Boonants ran the National 10 km Road Championship and completed this race event in the time of 45:18.
10 km in 45min 18sec (officially measured) = 13,24 km/h or 4:32/km pace. Km splits: 4:17 – 4:27 – 4:32 – 4:24 – 4:31 – 4:29 – 4:48 – 4:49 – 4:47 – 4:23
Weather: 23 ° C (73° F) / mainly sunny, some clouds / not windy
Course: flat, some curves and cobblestone patches but otherwise pretty fast.
I took 8th place in my age category (M60-64) – the finishing times of my peers finishing before me: 37:05 – 37:46 – 39:07 – 40:29 – 41:24 – 42:28 – 43:29.
I took a conservative, relaxed start (the first kilometres) and I felt just OK, which gave me confidence. But after that my left hip and upper leg began to act up more and more. I tried to ignore the discomfort by focusing on the athletes ahead of me and by maintaining a good form. However, I became really sore, the pain made me slow down and fade away. I wanted to stop but decided to push through. My final km was even my second fastest.
Of course, I am disappointed but I keep working until my problem is completely solved, I will never give up!
Bob Ferguson ran the Fort Ritchie Duathlon 30k and finished with a time of 2:01:47.
Ran the Fort Ritchie duathlon – a 5K run – 24K Bike – 5K run. Had a very good race and finished second in my age group. But the highlight of the race was my first 5K, which I finished in 25:48 (8:20 pace) – which was 43 seconds faster than the July 2nd 5K I just ran at the end of the last training cycle (26:29 – 8:30 pace). And after the 15M bike leg (on a very hilly course) was able to run the second 5K in 29:18 (9:27 pace). So, overall felt good and gave me a good boost getting back to my half-marathon training!
