Debbie Perry ran a 8k race and finished with a time of 31:41.
Turns out trying to race a ten alone with no company and no one pushing you is rather tough.. probably started top quick. I don’t check my watch much.. not even when it beeps a split. Starting st 3.55/km would have been a more manageable pace at this stage. But happy to have done 8 this fast alone and happy that I could push the last 2 km after my little re group km. 😉
Jay Nankivell ran the Adelaide Marathon with a finishing time of 3:30:00, which was a PR!
First attempt and hit a personal best.
Slawomir Wojcik ran the Krasnystaw Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 1:27:38.
It was a tune-up before Berlin. My ambitious goal was 1:25 and it seemed achievable if everything had aligned perfectly. As you can see from my time it did not 🙂
I had to wake up before 5am to drive there but by 9 am it was already full sun and 75 degrees. It was getting progressively warmer but the biggest surprise was the route. No map had been provided in advance so I was not prepared for half the distance (including 300ft hill mid-way) on a road covered with loose gravel. It meant slipping on the way up and praying to avoid an ankle twist when running down. Limited water stations did not help with maintaining proper hydration either. Now it makes sense to me that locals, who know this route well, tend to dominate the field every year.
On the other hand, I still finished with a decent time (keeping my hopes for 2:55-3:00 on a fast course in Berlin), avoided injury, and feel ready to do a bit more work before the goal race.
Joe Allen ran the Parkersburg Half Marathon, finishing this distance in the time of 2:24:26.
The race includes a couple of long climbs in Miles 2-3, and one killer 1/4 mile steep hill at Mile 11.5. The course is almost all in full sun. I was pretty much on pace for the first half but at Mile 8 the heat really got to me. Went into “survival mode” and was wondering if I would even finish. To make the temptation greater, at my physical/mental low point we went right past where my truck was parked and knowing that my hopes of getting anywhere close to my target goal was long gone, it would have been pretty easy to just walk across the street and drive away. But I resisted the urge to do that and finished. I actually felt pretty good once I recovered and today have hardly any soreness. Just a reminder how humbling running can be.
Rodrigo Jara ran the Maratón Internacional de Asunción 10Km and finished with a time of 36:20.
4th place overall. 9.5km course (there were 4 different race distances Marathon, HM, 10km, 5km).
Wasn’t one of my best days, my ankle is still not 100% and I was feeling weak the day before so I did what I could for the day. Not willing to suffer for 3rd place I settled in 4th place from km 4.
I think I am in 37′ shape right now, but first I have to do all the ancillary stuff I’m neglecting (nutrition, sleep, strength training). NYCM training starts now!
