Cindy Lee ran the Tunnel Vision Marathon and finished with a time of 3:42:18. This was a personal record by 0:11:50.
I PR’ed and Placed 2 in my age-group. (No one older finished before me). I improved from 8:56 pace to 8:29 (from my race 11wks ago). Now I have a 22:30 min cushion for my BQ time. The course is a beautiful downhill trail made from an old railway track. It winds around a few mtns with steep drop offs over 3-4 bridges high above the rivers below. I didn’t enjoy slipping with every step on the loose gravel and by the mile 20, my legs were really sore. This the 3rd time running on this trail, so I know this is the way I feel after a few hours. So, I ran the 1st half too fast, to bank time, knowing what was coming. Sure enough, the only thing keeping me going in the last 6 mi was thinking that “this may be the fastest time my husband ever see me run”, so I couldn’t stop. But I had nothing in the bank, I’m surprised my splits weren’t slower at the end. He is my ultimate inspiration. There were 804 participants with 564 finishers…lot’s of people walking at the end. But beautiful weather, race organization was good.
Theodore Nourie ran the Madison Mini Marathon with a finishing time of 1:49:13.
It was the first half marathon I had completed in over 23 years…although it was not a PR it was a PR for not competing in a half marathon for so long.
Sherry Wolffer ran the Athens Fair 5K and finished this distance in the time of 0:32:07.
This is one tough race. First 3/4 mile is easy downhill on pavement but the rest is trails which were muddy in many places because of heavy rain yesterday and LOTS of hills, including 2 monsters at the end. But I still took 2nd in my age group, which was a 10 year bracket, not 5 so a little more competition for me at 66. Guess I’m happy over all with this one.
Greg Arampatzis ran the Lehigh Valley Zoo- Run Wild- Beast 10k and finished in a time of 0:53:04.
After developing a knee injury from my trail half marathon last weekend I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to re-aggravate it, since I’m only 3 weeks away from my marathon. So my goal for this race was to just have fun, enjoy the run, and finish with no injuries. I’m happy that I accomplished that. I didn’t push the pace but I feel I maintained a solid effort. My time was about 4 minutes slower than the last time I did this race 2 years ago. I finished 43rd out of about 400 people though, so not too bad.
Bridget Decker ran the Fort Collins Peach Festival 5k, finishing this distance in the time of 22:33.
I ran hard, I just wasn’t fast. My legs felt tired. Right from the start I was running slowly and had to push to get to a reasonable pace. I did a pretty good job of staying positive throughout the race despite really trying to run my best. Finished 2nd in my age group and 11th out of 380 females, but not as important to me as my time since I really race against myself.
Noel Taganahan ran the Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:17:01. This was a new personal record by 2.15 minutes!
My previous PR was achieved 4 years ago when I was younger :). I remember that time my mantra was “New PR” and I was really over exerting just to get to 2:19:10. Fast forward to today. I was more prepared; thanks to the coaches and for providing the appropriate training plan to achieve my goals. I was only aiming for 2:18, but to achieve 2:17 is more than what I wished for. Also, what makes it special is because today is my wife’s birthday.
Andre Arseneau ran the Revel Chilliwack Marathon and finished this race in the time of 3:36:23.
I committed to this marathon only 2 months ago feeling fairly strong at the time. Despite only 1/2 the usual training period I still got a very good result! It’s nice to know I’m tuned into my body. A successful race, a good time, no injuries, 74/337 overall and 8/32 in my age group.
Julio Castillo ran the Lachine Half Marathon (10k) and finished in a time of 0:42:39. This was a personal record by 0:01:34.
For this race, I used a variation of Sarah Crouch’s pre-race warm-up. As the race started, tried to keep the pace as easy as possible for first 3K, following the race strategy and pushed a bit after Km 4, GPS showed 21:17 for first 5K, even with some slowdowns in Km 8 and 9, I had enough to push the pace in the last K to 4:03, closing the 2nd 5K in 21:06, so accomplished the negative split that I had planned!!. Unfortunately I still had to go an extra 150m to the finish line which was done at an avg of 3:22/K. Overall I think the warm-up and race strategy worked 100%, so I am extremely happy with the outcome. Thanks a lot to all the RC coach team!! You guys are the best 🙂
Siobhan Donegan ran a Half Marathon race and finished with a time of 3:14:37.
Our 6 member family and friends team ran the 100 on 100 Vermont Relay yesterday. The race started at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe and finished at Okemo Mountain in Ludlow. Basically our 6 members each ran 3 legs allowing us to cover the full 100 miles in 18 sections. It was hot and humid but we stayed hydrated and adjusted our paces as needed. The terrain varied from quite a bit of early trail and gravel running to more pavement running through my second and third legs. There was also torrential thundershowers while I ran up the Killington access road (third leg), but it was only 4 miles and the knowledge that that was my LAST leg kept me going…although I was mostly power walking as the winds started whipping and visibility dropped.
My goal for the day was to reasonably run around 8:15-8:20 ish pace for as many miles as the conditions would allow. I wanted to challenge myself but not risk injury. All in all a good day, even though at times the heat was stifling.
Our team arrived at the start with various levels of preparation and training, hence our team name, “The Underdogs.” Still, we completed the full 100 miles at a better-than-expected average team pace of 9:50 per mile. We learned a lot our first time doing this, and are already contemplating coming back for a repeat attempt of this challenge.
Gillian Ross ran the Falmouth Road Race 12k and completed this distance in the time of 0:58:25.
This was my first time running the Falmouth Road Race! I had an amazing time! I went into the race not looking to PR or do anything amazing but more for the experience and to get an amazing workout! It was 73degrees with 99% humidity at 9am. I used the temperature adjustment calculator and knew my adjusted my pace should be 8:24 (based on my goal pace of 8:00). I actually finished faster then my adjusted pace so I’m overall very happy! Also I finished in negative splits! ??
Thomas Bernota ran the Six Rivers Running Club Blue Lake 10k and finished in 53.25.
Another club race. Temperature seemed higher than it was. Pace was fine, and I’m not unhappy with the result for a tune-up race, but I found myself taking a few 15-30 second walking rests in the latter half.
Danielle Nadeau ran a Half Marathon race and finished in a time of 2:00:42.
I felt really good going into this race: loose, confident in my training, excited to run! Couldn’t have asked for better run conditions. The rain stopped about 15 min before we started and no rain during the race, just cool, cloudy weather ??. The course was flat, fast, with a lot of cheering sections the entire way. This is the fastest half marathon I’ve run since having my babies and I put down some good paces but as always I really struggle with the last 3 miles. My running buddies all seem to be progressing although I know I must compare myself to only myself and there has been much progress in my last two training cycles ?
Svetlana Hemsley ran the Twin Tunnel 10k Bath race and completed this distance in the time of 51.35. This was a PR by 2 minutes!
It was a Two Tunnel Bath race and I enjoyed it. I could run a bit faster but running in dark tunnels was tricky and had to watch for oncoming runners, walkers and cyclists, difficult to overtake. I still have it a good go and achieved a PB by 2 min!
Dave Miller ran the Edmonton Marathon and completed this race event in the time of 3:35:22. This was a new personal record by 7 minutes!
I felt good through the entire race. Was able to finish strong & actually speed up through the last few km.
Shanthi Lackey ran the AFC 5k, finishing this distance in the time of 21:47.
The weather was good for the time of year about 66 with 75% humidity. I was hoping to do the first mile in 6:50 but with a little incline in mile 1 ended up at 7:01. Mile 2 had a good decline 6:46. Mile 3 has the worst incline ended up 7:01 giving it all I had, which I was happy with. Last year I died out a bit on the last mile. So I was much happier. All and all I was happy with the performance. I took first in my AG and 4th Female :).
Shashidhar TB ran the La Ultra and finished with a time of 8:45:00.
La ultra is deemed one of the toughest ultra runs on planet and usually have 111,222,333 km run in Himalayas going upto 17600 ft in gruesome weather conditions. This time on their x edition they decided to open a 55km run through wari la pass. Unfortunately the weather conditions were extremely bad due to rains and snow storms that 17 of 29 in different categories got dnf. 42 people participated for 55km and I am glad that not only I could finish it but I came fourth. I had taken a race plan and I followed the nutrition and hydration to the last detail and it was very helpful in not bonking in such gruesome weather and altitude. We had strict cut off at 8km, 18km and 31km (peak). From km 21 to 31 the pace declined to almost 15min/km due to steep incline and altitude (oxygen was less than 50% of sea level) and snow blizzard. Coming down I had to restrict my effort and come down slowly for 4-5 km before really pushing through. It was very scenic and worth all the effort. Hands down for all the coaches of runners connect who could make a very average runner like myself to do daunting tasks la ultra.
