El Jones ran the 30th Ronald McDonald House of DE 5k and finished with a time of 21:57.
While it wasn’t a PR it was the first time this year I’ve gone under 22 minutes! ? Took masters and met an amazing young man in 3rd grade running 20 5ks in 10 states to raise money for children fighting cancer. What an inspiration!
David Hammar ran the 5K Race Against Child Abuse and finished this distance in the time of 20:56.
Battled heat, hills and Ocala PD’s best to take first overall. Rare occurrence but fought hard against runners much younger than I to win this race. Led for 1st mile. Got overtaken on hilly portion for 1.5 miles. Knew I had a chance if I could just stay within 30 feet, caught up with 800 meters to go and I sensed he would not be able to match my kick so I dug deep for the final 200 and pulled away!
Steven Laing ran the Brighton Marathon and finished this race in the time of 04:23:17. This was a massive personal record by 00:25:24.
After the disappointment of Berlin in September 2018, I focused on the mental side of training in addition to upping my running to 6 days a week. Really applied myself to the programme, scaled expectations realistically, accounting for missed running due to illness.
There is a fai degree of climb in the first half of the race, and being mostly on the coastal road, the wind comes into play. I started following the pacer for my stretch target of 04:15:00, which with the benefit of hindsight was a gutsy, and foolhardy roll of the dice.
Faded quite badly from mile 20, and had to resort to walk run for miles 21 to 25, as fatigue and the easterly headwind took their toll. I knew that I was well ahead of my baseline target of 04:30:00 so didn’t worry unduly about resorting to run/walk. We left the seafront at mile 25 and the little bit of additional shelter on the road allowed me to focus on throwing everything into the last mile. I hung on and crossed the line in 04:23:17.
Today I proved that my mental game stood up to the challenge, with the last five or so miles being a mental exercise calculating anticipated finish time every quarter mile. I settled on running for 04:25:00 so am delighted that I surpassed that. Onwards to Berlin in September.
Andy Dilatush ran the Hogeye Marathon with a finishing time of 5:18:38.
First marathon in Arkansas. I felt good through 13 miles and began to fade at mile 15. I latched onto the 5:00 hour pacers for about 4 miles then bonked around mile 21. I got a second wind mile 25. 1033 feet elevation gain.
Shanthi Lackey ran the Carlsbad 5000 Injury Tune up Race 5k, finishing this distance in the time of 23:13.
Went into it with some pain. Took the first mile easy then the adrenaline kicked in. Feet didn’t hurt while running but hurt about the same after.
Maurice McMahon ran the Dundalk 10k and finished with a time of 33.32, which was a PR by 22 seconds!
Local Race. Was really disappointed after last Saturdays 5k. Set myself a target of sub 34 mins for this one. Held back on the first 2 mile and then increased pace. Felt strong for the most getting a bit tired last 1k but was able to hold on. This has lifted my spirits a bit. Finished 6th overall with over 900 competitors.
Peter Fox ran the Anthem Star 10k and finished this distance in the time of 1:06:29. This was a new personal record by 3:34.
I wanted a 1:02 and on a normal course I probably would’ve had it but this was far from normal. My phone registered 936 feet of elevation gain and that’s all in miles 2 and 3. I focused on keeping sustainable effort and trusted my fitness. I did need a few walk breaks and each time I felt recovered and good.
Cresting the hill was a feeling like no other and I really flew down the hills, fastest mile I’ve done ever. I knew I’d lost my 1:02 goal early and was fine with that. Beating the 1:10 previous PR was the goal. There was one final cruel incline toward the end and I just focused on the mile speed runs you had me do. Slight downhill to the finish and I was able to turn it up and finish in style:).
Really proud of this run and again thankful for the tremendous coaching and learning I’ve received here.
Marc Lutz ran the Calico 7k (purple run) with a finishing time of 37:35, which was a PR!
Felt good. Pushed it mostly the entire race with the last 3min. a little faster.
Kari Ingebritsen ran the Hot Chocolate 5K and completed this race event in the time of 0:27:09.
I just got back from a stressful work trip, but I usually don’t let that bother me running. In the end I wasn’t too far off where I thought I would be. The last mile had a lot of steep up hills to it, but I was a little surprised I lost as much as I did pace wise. It was snowy, cold and windy, so I must have just not felt the pace slow down. Still I finished 10th in my age group so not too bad.
Patrick Douglass ran the Helderburg to Hudson Half Marathon and finished in a time of 1:43:48, which was a PR!
This course was ideal for going for a PR. Mostly run on a newly paved rail trail and it was all downhill, mostly. It was an inaugural race and there were some issues with transportation to the race start, which didn’t allow for enough time to properly warm up. This left me in a somewhat negative mindset and it took half the race to get it right. A 26 second PR, but that was on a course that measured .18 long. Great day, great friends, and very enjoyable.
Sarah Kuo ran the Spring Chance BQ.2 Marathon and finished with a time of 3:25:19, which was a PR by 57 seconds!
Absolutely floored that I was able to PR this one! Really had no confidence leading up to this race so expectations were low. Was even more discouraged after finding out that the course was a little more hilly than anticipated. Wasn’t prepared for the inclines and headwinds and at the end my pace was suffering. By mile 23 I was physically done but I kept telling myself to just keep running. Couldn’t believe it when I looked at my watch at mile 26 and saw that if I pushed hard enough I still had a shot to beat my current BQ time (3:26:16). Gave every last bit of energy I had left for that last .2 miles. It was probably the most mentally and physically tough section of any race I’ve ever run. But I just kept thinking that every second matters (especially after missing the Boston cut off last year by just 22 seconds). Really glad that hard effort paid off though cause I’m soooo ecstatic to be able to submit a Boston time that’s -4:41 minutes under my BQ time!
Mark Agren ran the Reedsburg WI Vet Fest Half Marathon and finished in 1:28:41. This was a PR by 4 minutes!
Started just as I planned. I knew where the killer hill was. Figured given the difficult miles in the middle I needed to go faster on the easier miles. I think I timed it as best I could. My watch registered shorter of course. Met my 90 minute goal. Was 2nd overall. I’m thrilled with this time….
Janna Perry ran the Spring Chance BQ.2 Marathon with a finishing time of 3:51:22. This was a personal record by 5:13.
I was very comfortable running this race all the way until mile 24.5. My pace just felt great.
Vicki Wright Badura ran the Albuquerque Half Marathon 5K and completed this distance in the time of 0:39:40, which was a PR by 4:11.
Today’s race was a real confidence booster for me. I’m 59 and started running last September. I did my first 5K in Feb. but it was more difficult than I expected. After that I knew I needed additional support to reach my goals so I joined Runners Connect. In a little over 2 months, with the support from the coaches at RC, I’ve improved my 5K time by 4:11! I walked twice during today’s run, for about 5 minutes total, but now in retrospect I know I could have run the entire course without walking. The training program and coaching support has been crucial in helping me accomplish things I never thought were possible for me. I especially appreciate the accountability which keeps me going on days when I’ve been less motivated. I was really amazed at how good I felt during this race, compared to my last one, and how much improvement I’ve made in a relatively short time. I finally consider myself a “runner” and am so proud of the changes I’m making. I deeply appreciate the RC team for all the expertise, kindness, support, and love that you pour out to your members. I can’t thank you enough!!!
Amit Pathak ran the Salt Lake City Marathon and finished this race in the time of 3:58:04. This was a new personal record by 1:55.
First of all, I must thank all the coaches and fellow runners on RC who helped and cheered all the way up to this race! Although I did PR but not by much, only 1:55. Salt Lake City is beautiful and at the same time it is at quite an elevation with a hilly terrain. This morning it had snowed just before the race. So the conditions were cold, wet and slick initially.
First 2 miles were a killer with super steep hills. After that I felt strong and was steaming through. Midway I thought I would be able to finish in less than 3:50. I don’t what happened but apparently I slowed down although I wasn’t feeling tired at all. Nevertheless it was just an exhilarating experience and I look forward to running Long Beach and NYC this fall.
Deana Fraser ran the 2XU Auckland Waterfront Half Marathon in 2:02:00, which was a PR by 5 minutes!
Came back from Calf and Achilles injuries!
Nadia Ouaked ran the Budapest Spring Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:20:57. This was a personal record by 0:01:25.
I was really targeting 2:15 and thought I could do it. It was a very crowded race and the beginning was very slow. However, I managed to get back my average pace of the first 5 km on track. So until then I felt good.
Afterward we crossed a tunnel and the sun started to shine. I had set up my watch to show me the average loop pace (I wanted a loop from km 5 to 16). The watch showed me an average pace of 6:40 (which was not accurate) and I think it played with my mental focus. From km 10, I started to be very very warm and I started to take water at every water stop. I think it also slowed me down.
From km 16, I wanted to start accelerating and I wanted to do a fast finish. The last 2km, I really started pushing and could improve my speed. I ended up doing a personal best, just not the one I was hoping for. However I have to say that it’s the first time that I am not totally dead after a race, so I feel that I have improved. 🙂
Alexandre Fagundes ran the St Patrick’s Run Sao Paulo 10k and completed this distance in the time of 0:42:57, which was a PR by 46 seconds!
Wooohooo! PR! 10k 42:57, 5k 21:26. The race was super flat, nice to go for a PR, but the weather was kind of nasty and rainy. My wife walked 4K and arrived exactly at the same time as me! I split the course in two times 3k and two times 2k. Was aiming to run at 330W, and that’s what I did, and the pace end up being faster than 4:22/km, consistently!
Had a fellow runner running with me most of the time… it helped that we were pushing each other all the time so not to decrease the pace. And so it went, first 3k, second 3k, I will only go through this lap and than I will slow down. Last 2k I reached the walkers finishing their 4K and it got really messy. Last 500m a guy passed me and I reacted, not striding, just faste, enough to race and beat him.
Passed the mark at 42min but Stryd still showed me there was still 200m to go, so I kept running and finished the 10k in 42:57! 46 sec faster than my PR in Los Angeles! And I broke my 5k PR as well! 21:26!
Hybre Schoemam ran the Forever Loskop marathon 21k Wild Challenge and finished in 3:05:38.
I loved it! The race was set in a beautiful nature reserve with a lot of uphill stretches. The big one is a 2k climb up te giraffes’ neck. In had to walk often, but had a great day.
Tensai Asfaw ran the Annecy 10k with a finishing time of 00:32:07, which was a PR by 11 seconds!
Didn’t get under 32, but got close. Look forward to another crack at it this year. ? age group though, and I got to stand at the top of the podium (the first place was overall top 10, so omitted from age group rankings and received a cash prize). My training buddy improved by 100 seconds since our last race here 7 months ago, finishing 8 seconds behind me. We had several friends who came out just to watch and cheer us – so made it extra special. Weather was near perfect. Confident that there is a lot more progress to come, and happy to celebrate this 2 decade (30s and 40s) PB while I chase the 21 seconds needed to achieve a lifetime PB.
Yoi Ohsako ran the Rutgers Unite Half Marathon and finished in a time of 1:40:58.
I am so disappointed by this race. I thought my fitness was getting better but maybe I just got lucky on 2 easy flat courses prior to this one.
Elisabeth Haukeland ran the Paris Marathon and completed this race event in the time of 5:08.
First Mary. Fantastic experience!
Parag Deshpande ran the Connemarathon (HM)and finished this race in the time of 2:52.
I would consider this as my PR as the conditions and the hilly race and was not much of a difference than my first race. The Sprint made a difference in the last.
Michelle Rogerson ran the Sheffield Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:39:09. This was a personal record by 6 minutes
I did lots of halfs last year (eight I think) and they were all between 1:46 and 1:47 ending with a new PB of 1:45 in November. I suspected I could sneak under 1:45 but couldn’t decide what to aim for. I used last weeks hilly 10km which is a very similar profile, in a race time calculator and it suggested around 1:43. Even with this information, the Sheffield Half course is very difficult to pace as the first part is all uphill, then there are some really nice flat and speedy downhill sections but there are a few sneaky inclines waiting towards the end. How to average out the goal pace across the route???
My solution was to run to feel. In truth I set off too fast but I was enjoying myself, I did stop myself from overtaking the 1:40 pacers though but they were in sight most of the way up the hill. Eventually, they edged out of sight but it didn’t worry me because I wasn’t expecting that sort of time anyway.
Miles 8 to 10 were quite tough, the nice downhills were out of the way, it flattens out and even heads uphill for a bit but I hung on. Then after one more downhill ramp I spied the 1:40 pacers again – could I do this? I edge passed them and pushed on to finish in … 1:39:09 – six minutes quicker than my November PB and seven minutes quicker than my time at Sheffield last year. I’m stunned and chuffed.
The conditions were lovely today which definitely helped. It was freezing waiting around at the start but I think the cold suits me once I get going. This probably isn’t the best way to approach pacing a race but it shows the benefits of not over worrying/over planning a race. If you have put the training in all you can do is do your best on race day and enjoy it.
Noel Taganahan ran the Vancouver Sun Run 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 1:03:41.
Around 41,340 runners participated in this popular event. This was the first time that it hailed for around 2K partway through the route, which made a portion of the route a bit slushy. Overall, it was a good run, albeit not my best effort.
Erva Jensen ran the Vancouver SunRun 10k and finished with a time of 1:03:02.
My daughter did her first 10k Ran with my hubby. We finished just before the hail storm that caught lots of racers. Running with someone threw off my strategy at the beginning. Was fairly steady with a strong finish. Feel I have a good base moving forward!
Kevin Daniel ran the Rattler 25k trail race and completed this distance in the time of 3:06:30, which was a PR!
This marks the furthest race I’ve ever competed in. It is also the most technical terrain and elevation gain I’ve experienced. The weather was cold, with snow and rain the entire race, which made for slippery mud and rocks, but a nice temperature overall. I’m incredibly sore today, which tells me I have some more work to do before my 30k trail race in July, but for now, I’m just going to enjoy the feeling of accomplishment from pushing myself through such a difficult race.
Michael Fleming ran the Vernonia Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:44.51. This was a new personal record by 7 minutes!
Having the confidence to trust the workouts Runners Connect planned and run with my running team. I couldn’t have done it without them.
Tom Rahav ran the Paris Marathon and finished this race event in the time of 3:13:40. This was a PR by 7 minutes 43 seconds!
This was my 3rd marathon and my goal was to finish under 3h15, so achieving that and improving my PB in almost 8 minutes makes me overall happy. However, it wasn’t my feeling during most of the race. I started well and felt good until about the half. From there I started feeling a kind of muscles fatigue and didn’t find my “”zone””. In the months before the race I ran 80-90km/week without much problem and had many 30K+ runs under my belt. This time it felt different. Unusual fatigue at unusual time. I will take some time in the coming days to figure it out and will try to make the necessary adjustments for the next time.
Big thanks to all RC coaches and this awesome community for pushing me further and further!
Anup Sharma ran the Sook River 10K – Tune up Race and finished in a time of 0:53:51.
Felt really good about the effort, it was better performance than last year. Race execution was very good, just as I planned, conserved till the first half then did a negative split.
Rachel Gambino ran the Raleigh Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 1:56:57.
The humidity was near 100% and the pollen count was still rated as “”Very High.”” I went into this one already sick from my allergies (terrible cough and chest congestion) and almost didn’t even start. I basically turned it into a training run because I really did not want to push myself to the brink while feeling sick. Despite this, the pollen/humidity still killed me. My average pace was 8:54, which is actually the slowest half marathon of my entire career (and I’ve done about 15!).
The good news, however, is that my legs felt AWESOME and never tired. I can just tell if I wasn’t feeling so sick from my allergies I would’ve crushed this one. All in all, I’m glad I got this one in for the mileage, but I am ready to put it behind me and look ahead towards my next ones.
Marc Lutz ran the Calico 7k (Prince Tribute)(Purple Run) with a finishing time of 37:55.
This was my second race for the day (definitely a first)!!!! I promised the coach I wouldn’t go 100% on this one, and I didn’t (although the time was only about 8 sec. different). It was night with no sun, so while the temperature was roughly the same, it felt so much cooler. I started out at a slower pace and ran more by feel. At about mile 3 I picked up the pace a little and with about 5min. left I was able to do it again so I finished “running” faster than the morning race and felt better after I finished (mentally and physically)!!!
Nicolas Mimoglou ran the Paris Marathon and finished with a time of 5:28:44.
It was the first marathon after my fracture. I hadn’t run for 5 months. I started running on January 1st, and the marathon training at mid-January. But I haven’t had enough time to train.
