Some marvelous performances highlight the weekend of races for Team RunnersConnect

El Jones ran the Deer Park Goes Pink 5k, finishing this distance in the time of 22:34.

I reached my goal and got the Delaware state 65-69 AG record in the 5k!! Just have to have the course verified. YAY!!πŸ˜€ Great race for a great cause. I brought my friend who is a breast cancer fighter with me and paid for her to do the 1 mile walk. She was so excited for me and we had an awesome time together!! I also took masters and got a $50 GC to the restaurant! It really doesn’t get much better than that!

Christina Kach ran the Wine & Dine 10K and finished with a time of 59:36.

Really excellent photo stop fartlek workout! Was really flying inbetween the photo stops. Got 9 total across the 6.2 miles. Felt good throughout! Very much helped by the good running weather this morning, only 64 degrees with lower humidty.

Christina Kach ran the Wine & Dine Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 2:06:46.

The humidity came raging back today and I certainly felt it. I started out a little aggressively speedy so I could get to the “fun” stuff – then enjoyed stopping for photos (10 total. There were way fewer photo ops this year). As well as just generally slowing down to soak in the scenery. Also did feel the energy wane from the faster start but I held strong. No muscle aches or pains during or after the race. Other than some late Sunday stiffness, by Monday morning my legs felt totally fine. That made me happy. What made me less happy was tummy blahs again. I had a UCAN at mile 3 and a roctane at mile 5. When time came at mile 7ish for the next gel, my tummy didn’t want it. I didn’t have a stomach ache but that…ugh I cannot suck down another gel feeling. I forced myself to have a half of a GU at 9.5 so I didn’t crash in the final miles. I’m blaming the humidity.
