Suzanne Anderson ran the Garden of Eden Palm Beaches 10k and finished this distance in the time of 53:33.
This was my first 10K race in a very long time. It used to be my favorite distance many many years ago. My goal was 56:00 minutes and I could not believe I finished in 53:33! I wasn’t confident that I could even do 56:00 so I am so surprised (and really excited about it) I even won my age group! The weather was ok as far as temperature is considered being in Florida. However, the wind was really really strong and it started raining towards the end of the run.
I attached myself to a couple of runners ahead of me and stayed with them for most of the race. I think it helped. Overall, this was a huge run for me!
Heather Galloway ran the Battersea Park 5k and finished with a time of 25:45. This was a PR by 20 seconds!
Great to come out after last week’s cancellation (rare event for Parkrun) and run a PB. It all worked despite some training challenges along the way.
Tim Norris ran the Alma Jingle Bell 10k with a finishing time of 49:13. This was a new personal record by 3:54.
This was a chilly one. The day was warming but it started at 9 degrees F and had only gotten to around 18F by race time. I was there early enough to get a decent warm up with about 1.5 miles of jogging and strides. After that I decided I would be best without the sweatshirt in just my base layer and a t-shirt over it. Plus hat and gloves and running pants with a jingle bell attached (they gave them out at check in). My race plan was 8:15- 8:20 pace for the first couple of miles and then see if I could pick up the pace a bit. I stuck to the plan and felt pretty strong throughout. My goal was to break 50 which I did. My watch thought the course was a little short and didn’t give me the PR automatically, but since it is a nearly 4 minute PR, and I would have broken 50 even with the extra 100 meters I’m going to take the PR! Hopefully this means I’m on the right track to hit my marathon goals in 2.5 months. It was a small race, there were more 5k runners and walkers but only about 30 running 10k. I was 7th overall and won my age group just by showing up since I was the only M60-64 so I got a creative coffee mug out of it.
Christine Lee ran the Dallas Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 1:46.42. This was a personal record by 01:30.
I made a PR. I dis not wear watch during race.
Pros: I still felt strong throughout the race. I ran strong despite being in the bottom part of the corral. I adapted to the race and managed to keep pace through the crowds. Made split time.
Improvements:
Logistics: Prepare warm up 45 – 50 minutes in advance before race. I just finished my warm up right after the race announced that corrals were open. It will help finding the right placement for my pace.
Future training: Use heavier bands and weights to strengthen core and hips. They will help strengthen speed.
Kevin Dollard ran the USATF Masters Club XC NATS 8k, finishing this distance in the time of 36:42.
8K cross country race in Tacoma, Washington. Masters clubs, cross country. Conditions were very rainy and windy with incredible amount of mud and slop. Very slow times because of it.
Ed Nickel ran the Dallas White Rock Marathon and finished in a time of 3:40:53, which was a PR by 30 seconds!
New PR by about 30 seconds. Likely could have been more if I had not made the mistake of assuming the course was the same as the previous 3 times I ran this race. It was generally the same but instead of the final 5 miles being mainly downhill, that section was earlier and the final 1.5 miles were distinctly uphill. I was not expecting that and my pacing for the end was off a little as a result.
Other than that, I had no noticeable issues. Pacing was decent and fueling was good. Temps in the high 50s to mid 60s, and with fog/drizzle the entire race the humidity was very high. I was prepared for that and used a cool tie, along with dumping copious amounts of water on my head.
In the end I can’t complain about a PR. Finished 19 of 140 in my age group so overall a good day.
Razvan Gheorghe ran the Fribourg by Night Trail 30k and completed this race event in the time of 3:15:00.
32k by night, rain, mix of trail and street. Despite bilateral shin splints lingering for a few months, I had a good feeling and enjoyed the run.
