2 Personal Bests and an Age Group Award highlight the excellent weekend of races for Team RunnersConnect

Mark Tribby ran the Palmetto Peach Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:05:29. This was a massive personal record by 19 minutes!

Ran with my two sisters and niece. The training schedule by Runners Connect made the difference in improving my time!

Sabina Havkins ran the Boston Tuneup Half Marathon with a finishing time of 2:19:23.

Wanted to improve my time from last year by 5 minutes..and mission accomplished. Per race results I ran a 10:38 m/m for the race… and given about 750 ft of elevation gain that’s pretty good. Came in 23/110 in my age and gender and it is a 10 year age group so lots of young 60 yo’s 🙂 With my almost being 70 yo in 14 days from now well all I can say is I am very grateful to be out there running and still even somewhat competitive…

Chang Sun ran a Fall Tuneup Half Marathon and finished this distance in the time of 1:29:51. This was a personal record by 4 minutes!

Nice chill weather (check). Nutrition and hydration (check). Warmup (check). Start slow and run negative split (check). My heart rate climbed to 170bpm ish starting mile 3, which is higher than I expected based on the training. I am not sure how much the gravel/unpaved road contributes to the running effort. The last mile push was also slower than I would like, which could be due to the mental toughness or the stitch happened at mile 11. Overall, I am happy to finish under 1:30 and take 6th overall and 2nd in my age group.

Jeffery Larson ran the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon and completed this race event in the time of 3:46:37.

This was a surprising race for me. Leading up to the event, I was traveling a lot for work and wasn’t able to run with the consistency I would have normally been able to maintain. The morning of the race, I tried to eat a bigger breakfast than I’ve normally done. I also was consuming more salt (dissolved in a sports drink) than previous events.

I was planning on a 4 hr finish time and was running a pace that would get me there without a negative split. Within the first 4 miles, my legs felt really antsy. My race had 4 to 5 HR timeframes.

At mile 25, my hamstrings forced me to stop and stretch a bit to deal with a series of cramps. Afterwards, I was able to resume my pace and finish the race. The race time ended up being my second fastest marathon time.
