Daniel Harris ran a 10k Tune-Up race and finished with a time of 40:40. This was a personal record by 1:30.
Absolute shambles of conditions. Storm hit the country and it made itself known. High winds and horizontal rain but that’s what I trained so hard for. ‘Where winners are made’..
Steadied myself into a nice rhythm after a couple of km and then picked off the groups in the distance one by one. Big sprint finish last 400m, took three people on the run in. 14th out of 356. Felt like actual racing. Sub 42 goal smashed, ran a sub 20 minute back 5k. Sub 40 I’m coming for you next year! Love love love!
Taylor Chase ran the Philadelphia Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:57:11.
Got to do this while in Philly for a professional conference. Great way to see the city! Hadn’t really trained at all – just tried to not lose too much fitness after my September marathon.
Carmen Lopez-acevedo ran the Zara Athleticz Speedrun 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 49:29.
A new race in Madrid with a very downhill certified course so good for people trying to get a time qualifier for the San Silvestre New Year´s Eve race. The weather was perfect, sunny and cold, but I overdid it yesterday at a celebration with some friends and didn´t sleep well. I already have a sub 48 qualifier for my New Years´s race from a couple of months ago and it was clear it wasn´t going to be a PR so I just ran hard but not totally pushing myself. I think this is my lowest HR for a race ever! One of my top 5 fastest times ever so pleased with it.
Mary Shepherd ran the Gilbert Half Marathon and finished in a time of 2:30:55.
A perfect running day and a flat course. I was hoping for under 2:30 but my official time was 2:30:55–close. BUT I got second in my age group.
The first several miles were fine. I felt like I was holding back just a little and the paces were very consistent. At about 5.5 miles I found an unoccupied port-a-potty and did a quick pee break. But after that break, I couldn’t seem to get back to the same pace. After a couple more miles, maybe with about a 5K left to go, I switched from 60/24 intervals to 40/24 and these felt much better and for a while my pace stayed where it was. After the 12+ minute mile I knew there was just a mile or so to go and I thought I could pick it up for that last part. I did but still using the 40/24 intervals. I was at 1:1 breathing for a few of the run intervals, and I think I ran the last tenth entirely. I didn’t catch anyone, but I picked up ground on the several in front of me.
Mike Bromberek ran the Philly Marathon and finished this race in the time of 3:24:37.
Was real crowded for first 4 or 5 miles making it hard at times to go my planned pace. The wind was in my face during the last 10k which did not help but it did not feel real strong. It did feel like there were more uphills in the later part of race than I expected they were not bad but not helping.
My left hamstring I could feel at times on the downhills in first half of race and during last 10 miles it was feeling sore the whole time. The part of Right calf that had issues yesterday was good the whole race.
Used gel at 6:55am, 31, 60, 90 minutes, 2h10m, and 2h43s. Plan was to use it at 2h50s but since I was not doing great I figured best to use it sooner. Used salt tablets at 90 minutes and 2 hours.
Did not walk during the race despite legs feel pretty sore later in in the race and really feeling it would be nice to stop for a little while. So really happy I was able to keep running.
Alison Snakard ran the Philadelphia Marathon and completed this race event in the time of 3:34:08. This was a massive personal record by 26 minutes!
Huge PR in my home city
Katy Jeffords ran the Turkey Day 8k and finished this distance in the time of 40:21.
A minute off of my PR, it was warmer today than it had been in the past. Happy with the training block that went into it!
Corrinne Mills ran the Grant Park Turkey Trot 10k and finished with a time of 56:28.
Fastest 10k since 2015! Stuck to my pacing plan and felt good. 4/24 in F45-49.
Jeff Parsons ran the Turkey Trot 5k and completed this distance in the time of 20:00. This was a personal record by 1:00.
There’s nothing like a turkey trot to start Thanksgiving. My goal was 20:00, and I got that time exactly, which is precisely one minute faster than I ran last year’s trot.
Travis Dowell ran the Holiday Classic 10K with a finishing time of 1:07:24.
Per my watch, I ran 6.65 miles at an average pace of 10:08 per mile with 464 feet of elevation gain on course advertised as “flat”. This was a bit slower than my last 10K pace of 9:59. I was running faster on descents and slower on ascents, plus there was a 0.2 mile section of dirt with gravel and loose small rocks on it that I passed 4 or 5 times. But the official results were crazy different. They said I finished 10th out of 52 runners, 9 of 28 males, and first in my AG. Their time for me was 47:07, 8:00 pace. Using my time, I would have been 27 of 28 males, 40th of 52 runners, and still 1st among males over 70, as I was the only one and the oldest runner in the race. I think my watch was closer to the truth, but I will take the AG win in either case.
Larry Shaw-salazar ran the Thankful 13 10K and finished with a time of 45:48.
It wasn’t near my best time of the year, but it was one of my better races. I had been sick for 8 days and barely back to running for 2, I only ran because of the family tradition to run this race on thanksgiving. I liked that I set a goal pace and didn’t look at my watch other than at the mile marks but I held pretty close to that pace other than the long hill during the 5th mile. AG Win!
