Nicole Cornish ran the Houston Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:28:13. This was a PR by 4 minutes!
My A goal was 2:30. I had so much self doubt going into this race. Training has been so hard to balance with kids, work, and school, but I stayed consistent and it was worth it!! I beat my A goal time by almost 2 minutes!!
Brandilyn Carpenter ran the Houston Half Marathon with a finishing time of 3:21:37, which was a PR!
First ever half marathon. I finished. That was my goal…. Would I have liked a better time? Yes. But that will come with training. Did pretty well the first half. Got sick ~ mile 7 or so. Couldn’t take nutrition after that. Tried to stay with the 3 hour pace group, but lost them after a bio break. Tried to do 30/30 ish walk run intervals for the last 4 or 5 miles some were more successful than others. It was HOT. No shade. High humidity. I was not last…
Bruno Ackermann ran the Lausanne 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 42:26. This was a PR by 1 minute 10 seconds!
Happy with the time. My second 10k after I did my first one 7 weeks ago. PR by 70 seconds.
Andrew Burke ran the Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 1:31:09, which was a PR!
As my first half marathon and longest race distance thus far, this event was meaningful to me in a number of ways. Considering that it was also my first time racing in a large city with a large number of runners (13,000 were registered for this race), it was a learning experience. It involved more logistics surrounding the race than I’m used to, but once it began, I felt quite comfortable and enjoyed being surrounded by the many cheering spectators throughout the course.
I was able to stick around a goal pace during the first half of the race, which was a feeling-out process. I felt good after the halfway point and knew I could push more the rest of the way, and I was able to pick up my pace considerably over the last 15 minutes or so to finish strong.
Seeing as 1:35 was my goal finishing time at the start of this training (which actually felt quite ambitious at times), it’s very satisfying to have finished with the time (and in the high % of finishers) that I did. In preparation for this race I did treat myself to some racing shoes for the first time, and I felt that they did provide support and a confidence boost compared with my high-mileage training shoes. Nonetheless, it was great to complete this milestone feeling well before, during and after the run. I’m feeling as excited as I’ve ever been to continue towards regular running and future goals.
Thank you to RC coaches for another impactful training plan, and for your support along the way!
Nicole Sailors ran the Two Rivers Half Marathon and completed this distance in the time of 1:33:42. This was a personal record by 2 minutes!
PR on a beautiful course! Smaller rolling hills, so it wasn’t too bad. Lots of shade and I loved every downhill! Finished 2nd female overall.
Joe Allen ran the Marine Corps Marathon and finished this race event in the time of 6:02:58.
I’d decided that this was my last marathon and wanted to finish where I started running them 46 years ago– at the Marine Corps Marathon. Wasn’t worried about my time, just wanted to savor the event. I lost my gym bag with my running watch the day before I left for the race. Ran with my wrist watch. Good to finish my last marathon “”old school.””” There’s no feeling like getting a high five from a Marine as you hit the finish line. Thanks for all the memories!
