Team RunnersConnect has an incredible weekend as athletes notch 2 Personal Bests

Marjy Friedrichs ran the CDR Superhero Dash 5K and finished this distance in the time of 21:56.

It wasn’t an actual PR, but it was an age graded percent PR (81.3%) despite the heat and humidity, so I’m pleased!

Tereza Terahata ran the 10km Marathon Pour Tous (Paris Olympics) and finished with a time of 57:36. This was a new personal record by 2 minutes!

Thank you, RunnersConnect team, for allowing me to have this wonderful 50th birthday present: a PR in the most special race ever.

Daniel Chu ran the Brazen Bear Creek 5k, finishing this distance in the time of 34:04.

My 2nd 5k with a local trail race organization, Brazen. Pretty fun course overall. 300′ elevation change – enough to keep things interesting but not to brutal. Lots of unexpected obstacles too – most of the path was covered in leaves, fallen trees in several spots and a creek crossing. Considering all that, pleasantly surprised with my result.

Zach Jalteco ran the Twilight 5000 5k and completed this race event in the time of 16:13. This was a PR by 17 seconds!

First track race in general in 10 years, first track 5000 ever, and set another lifetime PR at this distance!

Going in my only intentions were to have a lot of fun, experience something new, and give myself a chance to set a personal best. Happy to have accomplished all 3!

Was placed in the fastest heat of the day which went out really fast (sub 4:40 pace). So, I just attached myself to the back of the pack at sub 16′ pace to put myself in it and see how my body would respond. Split 5:08 mile 1 which was a bit hot but didn’t feel like I was overextending myself. Slowed about a second per lap for laps 5-7 but still felt smooth. Started to hurt at the 2-mile mark and could feel myself give in a bit because I didn’t really have anyone close enough to reel in and wasn’t racing to win. Ended up closing on a 73″” final lap and felt like I still had a good amount left when I crossed the line.

In hindsight there’s definitely some areas that I could improve on, but I’m also finding that with each passing race I’m able to get more out of myself regardless of where the fitness is, which is an encouraging feeling.

All in all, I’m proud of the honest effort I gave, but also hungrier than ever to get better.
