Team RunnersConnect ends July with spectacular racing performances in all distances bringing in 3 Personal Bests

Ken Tyner ran the Deseret News Marathon and finished with a time of 3:29:26.

Very tough, mostly downhill race in warm temperatures. The first half was in 1:37:20 but I had to take more than a few walk breaks towards the end.

Nicole Sailors ran a 5k Race and finished this distance in the time of 20:32. This was a personal record by 2 minutes!

This is the first 5k I’ve raced in 20 years! 😆 I beat my high school PR by more than 2 minutes. All 5 of my kids were at the finish which made it extra special!

Cesar Cordero ran the Media Maratón de Guayaquil Half Marathon and finished in a time of 1:59:18, which was a PR!

This race in my hometown was intended only as a tune-up in preparation for the main race, the Buenos Aires Half-Marathon, which I was planning to try and finish in less than 2 hours. I wasn’t expecting much today, as the course and climate are factors to consider. As it turned out, things were going well by the middle of the race, so I went for it and in the end managed unexpectedly to set a new personal PR, finishing this preparation race in the time I was intending to set at my main race. I’d like to thank the coaches for their support and encouragement!

Brad Dolesh ran the Boogie to the Bank 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 38:36.

Local race. Happy with the results with 1/2 marathon training. Definitely hit my VO2 max.

Brooke George ran the Orca Half Marathon with a finishing time of 2:11:58, which was a PR!

First race post knee surgery and it felt so good to get back out racing! Looking forward to improving my times and ultimately getting to another Full Marathon.

Joe Allen ran the Betty Zane 5K and completed this race event in the time of 27:42.

This is an annual regional race held at 6:00 pm and I try to run it every year. It was 94 degrees at race time and this is a rolling course with little shade, so my goal was start with a pace I could maintain and see if I could pick it up a little towards the end. The race begins on a gradual half mile incline in the full sun and the first people starting fading as we neared the top. I was feeling OK and went a little faster on the shorter downhill. Around Mile 1, more folks were walking. By Mile 2 even some experienced runners were hitting the wall in the heat. I was able to maintain my pace and did go a little faster in the last half mile, but the heat was having an impact. I finished 45th out of 96, which was pretty good as I was the oldest runner in the race. Coming home, I felt good knowing that I’d adopted the right strategy and by the grace of the running gods was able to keep going despite the brutal temperatures.

Peter Willacy ran the Sale Sizzler 5k and finished this race event in the time of 21:45.

Prior to race didn’t feel quite right possibly due to warm weather, however once race under way started to feel better and ok first 2k then felt that struggled on 3k but split faster than last time I ran this race in July. Felt that should have run faster but still a pr on this course and fastest time this season so far so can’t be to unhappy. Also third in master v65 cat.
