Lisan Subagio ran the New York Marathon and finished with a time of 5:15:00.
Its not PR so sad got sick before long flight – more than 24 hours flights and got jet lag too 😂 , still need more practice let set another goal.
Lenart Vega leyva ran the La Porte By the Bay Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:43:40.
Getting back on track. Not a PR, my PR was set 25 years ago, way younger, but recovering my fitness from 3 years without training for the distance. This race has been a big accomplishment. Thank you so much RunnersConnect team for helping me getting this result.
Kent Beachy ran the Norfolk Habor Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 1:53:50.
Setup: it was cold for at least half of this race. Prerace it was 38f and windy (16 mph). Found it hard to warm up and stay warm without getting sweaty and then freezing in the cold wind. Also been having a bit of an issue with the Achilles and it was tender. I didn’t really know what I wanted to accomplish today. I knew it wasn’t PR conditions and this wasn’t my A race. I knew I’d be disappointed if I didn’t break 2 hrs. I was thinking anything 1:55ish or better would be good. The Achilles would be a wild card.
Race: the first half mile or so was with the wind to your back, but then you turned and ended up run inning into the wind for the next 5 or 6 miles. The first 2 or 3 miles were the worst as the wind was whipping through the building and you were getting a bit of a wind tunnel effect. The first mile was 9:11 which I didn’t really care for. The next couple of miles we’re at 8:39, but I caught myself running at ~8:20 a few times, so I was working on not over running too soon. I was certainly aware of the Achilles, it was tender, but holding up pretty well. Miles 4-8, I was just trying to keep the pace in the 8:40-8:50. At mile 9, I decided to pick it up to around 8:30 and that seemed about right. I then pushed for the last 2 miles. I made a minor mental mistake here though. I know this area really well and I know where the finish line was. I should have known that the 11 mile mark was too close to the finish line for it to be a direct shot. My 12 th mile was 7:58. However, we had to run past the finish line and then double back. That meant the last ~3/4 mile was back into that stiff wind along the waterfront. There was a momentary letdown when I realized I had a bit further to go than I had in my head and back into the wind to boot. But it didn’t last long and I ran the last full mile at 8:09 and the last partial mile at 7:44 pace.
Finish: 1:53:50 chip time. Finished 6th of 39 in my age group, 200th male of 612 and 267th of 1361 overall. I don’t think anyone passed me the last 2 miles. Anyone faster was already ahead of me. I was just picking off individuals or small groups all the way to the end. Feeling pretty good about this since I’ve only been running for about 2 and a half years. Gotta like strong finishes.
Stacey Brooks ran the Chatham in the Fall 10K, finishing this distance in the time of 46:07. This was a PR by by about 30 seconds!
Race was cold and very windy!! This is a course I know well, so I tried to run totally by feel and didn’t check my watch for pacing. Hills in last couple miles always tough, but I managed to save enough to feel really strong at the finish. Last time I ran this in June it was very hot and humid…amazing the difference that weather and more months of training can make! I felt great and finished first woman in my age group 40-49yr olds. I don’t have my official time yet, but my garmin watch tells me I set new 5K and 10K personal records (22:45, 7:19 /mi and 46:07, 7:25 /mi). This was a great way to wrap up my racing in 2022!
Jurate Grigorjeviene ran the Verona Marathon and finished in a time of 3:56:40, which was a PR!
It’s official, I’m a marathoner now :)) So proud I did it. Chip time 3:56:40 15/47 AG, 73/228 overall W. A bit about the Verona Marathon itself. It was 20 November, last Sunday. I had a strategy on my mind to start with 10 km slower than MP, then slowly build up to MP and had no idea what to expect after I hit the 35km mark. This what happened: I ran first 10k slower/at MP, then up until 30km faster and after 32km mark I started to slow down a tiny bit with each km. The hardest part were 39-41 km, as the marathon runners had to navigate between groups of power walkers of the last 10km distance. We all were on the same route on narrow streets of old town. Now the best part: I did not stop even for one second at water stops, I did not experience any cramps, I could walk after the race and felt good, I did not get any injury.:)) The next day I felt like after usual long run and we went on exploring tour around the Lake Garda. Overall, I had fantastic time on route, I enjoyed my first marathon, the support from crowd was amazing, and the general vibe of the city/people/event combination made this experience awesome and unique 🤗
Eric Paradis ran the Southbury Turkey Trot 5k and completed this distance in the time of 27:39, which was a PR by 4 seconds!
Crowded race, but they used the whole road at the start. I moved up to the beginning third to avoid the kids and walkers. At about 5 minutes in, my left shoe lace decided to go free! Argh! Had to take off the gloves and tie it back up and get back on track. Was feeling good, figured that just killed my time. Couple of big rolling hills, but not bad at all. No wind thankfully, just cold, but sunny. Wasn’t paying close attention to my watch, but I was pushing it and felt good. Finish line wasn’t where I thought it was, so I stepped it up a little too early, but then saw the clock and pushed it through for the PR! Very excited!
Steve Baumgartner ran the Washington’s Birthday Marathon (10k) with a finishing time of 41:35. This was a personal record by 26 seconds!
The fact that there were other, very quick runners motivated me to go more quickly overall – even though they all beat me!
Patterson Wilhelm ran the Lynchburg TT 5k and finished this distance in the time of 17:03.
Felt a lot more prepared than I have in the past but, I went out WAY TOO FAST. I’m not sure what I was thinking. I was still fighting for the lead at mile 2 but then the wheels came off and the eventual winner put 30 seconds on me. I would have felt a lot better had I gone out in 5:20/30…oh well! I went for it. I was hoping to run sub 17 but it just didn’t happen today. It was still 17 seconds faster than last year when I won. I got third overall. I’m really looking forward to keeping the momentum going and running a half in the spring.
