1 Personal Best and an Age Group Award highlight the great weekend of races for Team RunnersConnect

Kristin Morales ran the Masters University 5k and finished with a time of 26:37.

Despite being late to the start line and having to wade through strollers and kids, I was very pleased. Distance was 3.25.

Derek Rasmussen ran the Time Trial 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 37:22.

Tough race on the TM as -25degrees outside. Was hot inside, but I think a really good test of my fitness. Only 40 seconds slower then my PR that was in perfect conditions 👍🏼😃

Larry Shaw-salazar ran the San Silvestre Baranquilla 8k with a finishing time of 37:40, which was a PR!

In 1986 my cross country team won the national championship, Later in 1987, I moved to Barranquilla Colombia, The race director was a famous Colombian runner and he personally invited me to run in the 18th annual San Silvestre of Barranquilla. About two weeks before the race I had to pull out of the race, It was very disappointing. I told myself that I would have to make it back, I had no idea it would take me 34 years to get back to the race. Although Rafael Guzman had passed away his widow was overjoyed to see me finally compete in the race. During the second and fourth miles I ran by the neighborhood I had lived in and there were friends from 34 years ago out cheering for me. It truly was an amazing experience, and then to still get a top 10 overall and 2nd in age group was icing on the cake.

Kim Kossick ran the Peanut Butter Chip Chase 5k and completed this distance in the time of 36:41.

This race was a blast. The first route I’ve run that actually felt uphill the whole way. This is an annual fundraiser for a local Lions Club. This was the 45th running. Went into this to have fun and have a good start to the year. The weather was foggy and dreary but everyone was in a good mood. It started off with the little kid fun run. This was won by a little boy who had worn his rubber rain boots, which he then shed and ran the race barefoot. Hilarious.

About half way through the route passed a farm with 5-6 horses in a paddock. As soon as they saw the people running by they ran to the fence and started running along with the runners. I probably could have had a better time by a couple minutes but I stopped to watch them and took a video.

There was a gain of 315′ with a little “”heartbreak hill”” to close out the race. I did try to speed up and managed to pass one person just before the finish line. The organizers did a great job. I love living in small town New Hampshire and this was a prime example of community coming together.

The last 6 months have been rough for me. I lost two dogs, my partner had a heart attack and bypass surgery and he tested positive for COVID on Christmas eve. I’m negative!! Get your booster shots! But this race made me feel more energized than I have for a while. I want to thank all the coaches and others on RC for your advice and encouragement. I’m looking forward to having a much better year ahead and making a lot of progress with my running.

Erin Burns ran the New York City Marathon and finished with a time of 4:50:10.

Ugh…my husband shattered his foot 4 days before the race and was stuck at home in a cast with elevated foot. I had the kids and clearly a lot on my mind. I ran the entire race with my dad, so it was special… definitely not my goal time, but I had fun.
