Team RunnersConnect has an excellent weekend with 3 Personal Bests leading the way

Steven Youngkin ran the Hermes Cleveland 10 Miler and finished with a time of 1:23:57. This was a personal record by 2 minutes 29 seconds.

Course was mostly flat with one small hill in the middle. Did ladder intervals and ran final mile straight out in 8:24. Finished 139/542 (largest group of runners since the pandemic) overall and 15/42 in my age group.

Timothy Bibbs ran the Velopark April Half Marathon with a finishing time of 2:00:46.

Had shin splits for the first 5-6 km and was on the brink of giving up. Maybe it was down to the shoes I wear for racing, which I had not worn for months, apart from a 10 km race a couple of weeks ago during which I had a similar, if less intense, experience. After the shin splints went I felt ok, but didn’t manage to increase the pace. Maybe I just have to accept that I cannot do much better than 2 hours.

Omar Malik ran the Shelby Farms 10k and finished this distance in the time of 39:06, which was a PR by one minute!

This was my first 10k under 40 minutes, which was my overall goal in training for this race. I PR’d as well which was awesome. All of the training and hard days made this race really special. It was a smaller race due to covid with only about 100 runners running the 10k, but it was a race and it was in person so I can’t really complain. I think the cherry on top was I was the #1 overall winner.

Really happy with the result! I believe the training and specific workouts really prepared me well for race day. I enjoyed the training and the race was just extra special because I delivered on my results and goal.

Karen Mcfadian ran the Tatton Half Marathon and completed this race event in the time of 1:57:30. This was a new personal record by 4 minutes!

First official half marathon race. Absolutely over the moon with this. Felt comfortable. Aim was sub 2 hours.

Diane Souza ran the Clearwater Half Marathon and finished this race in the time of 2:38:37.

Started off ok but then got progressively worse as the miles went on couldn’t even maintain a 10/mile pace. Although there was no thunder storms as predicted it was windy and humid which didn’t help.

Steven Youngkin ran the Raccoon Run 5K and finished in a time of 25:19.

Finished 16/155 overall and 1/7 in my age group, my 4th 1st place this year. Course had a few rolling hills and weather was chilly but otherwise not bad. Maintained my place in the race for almost the entire race.

Catherine Eley ran the Speed Bootcamp – 10k, finishing this distance in the time of 55:27.

Well, this was the culmination of the speed bootcamp. It wasn’t a formal race (just me against the clock). Route was fairly hilly. I pushed hard (although if I’m completely honest I could probably have pushed a bit harder). I was relatively pleased with my performance- I stayed focused. I am going to continue with the speed work employing the “tips” and other useful information gleaned through the Bootcamp and schedule another 10k “race” in a few weeks time.

Michael Moore ran the Gettysburg Marathon with a finishing time of 3:57:44.

Solid pace throughout a very hilly course in under 4 hours. Best marathon finish ever, and best finishing time in over a year. Ran through the Gettysburg Battlefield, making this race special.

Kathleen Arves ran the Pine Line Marathon and finished this race in the time of 4:12:44.

Was going in with some apprehension because of my PTTD but it was ok. Gorgeous scenery and great temps. Mid 40’s with some rain at the end.

Tony Malinauskas ran the Tougher Mudder Atlanta 10 mile and finished with a time of 2:24:00.

There was heavy rain the entire race so the obstacles were slippery and the footing was sloppy, but I completed all obstacles and ran well on the rolling fields, maybe thanks to my practice in the mountains. I was the eldest runner in the entire competitive heat (beating my sole AG competitor by 1:03:00), and I finished in the top 25% of all males. Happy with those results.
