Another beautiful Fall weekend around the country, which coincided with a strong weekend of results for RunnersConnect members.
Kicking off the weekend was Tim Parker at the Richmond Half Marathon. Tim ran a smart and controlled race to move confidently over the first half of the course and set himself up in perfect position. The result was a 1:20:00 clocking, just 8 seconds off his PR from last year. Given the colder than expected temps, this was a strong race and a good indication of fitness.
Up next at the Richmond Half Marathon was Marty Bradley. Marty ran quickly through the first half of the race and established himself well, but the rolling hills took their tool the second half and Marty faded slightly to finish in 2:03:07. While the race wasn’t the PR Marty had hoped for, this race did reveal some weaknesses and helped us identify specific things to work on. Marty has the perfect attitude and understands this is just one step towards even bigger goals and the lessons learned from the race will be very helpful long-term.
Jack Brolly raced the Bayville Turkey trot and notched a 3 second PR with his 27:29 finish. The race was a good stepping stone after a solid block of training and it definitely shows Jack is close to making that next big jump in fitness. Great racing, Jack.
Richard Harris toed the line at the Charlotte Thunderroad half marathon and walked away with a new half marathon PR at 1:17:43. Unfortunately, Richard ran much of the second half of the race alone, which we can all attest to be being very difficult. However, he stayed focused and strong and finished hard. This race was a great way to cap off a phenomenal season which saw PR’s at every distance from 5k to the half marathon – nice work this year!
Finally, Kristin Fiumefreddo lined up for a local 5k in Minnesota and finished first overall. Yup, Kristin ran from the front and never looked back, leaving even the first male in her wake. Kristin is the fourth RunnersConnect member this year to win a race and joins quite a distinguished list. I am really excited about how confidently and controlled Kristin race, way to kick butt!
Way to keep the ball rolling with great results this week. Good luck to everyone racing this weekend, especially the Philadelphia Marathon crew!
