RunnersConnect Weekend Race Results – February 16th-17th

The RunnersConnect team was out in force this past weekend. By my count there were three PR’s and sadly one race cancellation (sorry, Eduard). Here’s what your fellow runners accomplished:

Pebble Williams ran a 2:22:56 and finished 14th in her division at the Hyannis Half Marathon. In her words:I had a great half marathon yesterday in Hyannis despite the rain! I am really pleased with my results considering how tough the winter has been. What is most important I me is that i completed a training cycle and race without injury! I actually enjoyed it and didn’t swear I would never do another one. I followed the race plan, ran hard but relaxed, charged mile 8 and kicked it at the end. I couldn’t have done it without you!”

Bill Rotella: Well, considering that I had a 4 minute pit stop at mile 8 and taking in to account the heat and humidity, I still got a p.r. at this stage of my training, but I did not make my goal of beating the 2 hour mark. I ended up doing better than 56.14% of overall runners, 44.96% of the men, and 47.43% of my age group. But what was really priceless was that fellow team mate Dana was there at 2 points in the race to cheer me on and I really appreciated her support, so Thank You Dana, your Awesome! I will do better at the Jacksonville Gate River 15k Run in 2 weeks. Have a great day team mates.

Javier Vilchis PR’d at the Cowtown Marathon on Sunday by running a 3:25.01. Way to go Javier!

Pearson Smith: As I gear up for some shorter races, I had the chance to test the legs at sea level in Los Angeles in the Redondo Beach 10k, Sunday Feb 3rd. I had a good outcome for the beginning of this speed session and was able to run a personal best at 39 minutes. Love seeing everyone’s progress on RunnersConnect and have so much fun being part of the community…. it has grown so much in the last two years!

Elliot Myers: ran the Rock and Roll Marathon in New Orleans. The result wasn’t what he was looking for, but that’s unfortunately part of racing. They can’t all be PR’s but the races that don’t go according to plan can still be something to build off of. In Elliot’s words: “I am finishing graduate school so any cardio work has been thrown at the window. I did it because I promised my Dad I would do it with him. I completed the first half in 2:01, that’s about my pace. But when I got to mile 18-19, I started cramping for the first time (ever), and it completely locked me up, and that’s where my 4:00 pace went out the window. My dad (Keith Myers on the site), finished in 4:30. He really did well. He has hardly any soreness today and feels great overall!”

Congrats to Keith and Elliot, and we’re looking forward to your next shot at it Elliot.

Eduard de Vries was slated to run the Hampton Half but Mother Nature had other plans in store for him. Too bad, because he was over the flu and ready to roll. Most people would take that as a sign and call it a day, but not Eduard. He headed to the gym and got in a run anyway!

Great job all around. Looking forward to next weekend’s results already.
