Team RunnersConnects Continues to Sizzle in July with 6PRs

Dennis Moore ran the Rock the Crossroads in Kansas City coming across the finish line in time of 25:01 which was a PR of 42 seconds.

Dennis Moore97 degrees, PR, but most memorably this was the first race run with the entire family. My son ran 29:43 (his first ever 5k with no training) after spending all week saying, “Dad, I can’t run!” Then couldn’t stop thanking me for pushing him afterwards. And with my wife’s help, my daughter finished after battling with blood clots earlier this summer – a big confidence booster for her.

Jared Storts raced the Be The Match Run 5K in Portland, Oregon coming the finish line in the time of 17:13 which was a PR of 32 seconds and a 3rd overall and 1st in Age Group Award.

JaredSI’m hoping to run sub – 17:00 by the end of the season. The 5k training plan has been going really well!

Matthew Stewart raced the Sydney Harbour 10k in  Sydney, Australia finishing this distance with a time of 39.12 which was a PR of 1 minute and 26 seconds. Starting in the back of the pack,

MstewartLate decision to sign up to this race and last one as a 41 year old. I was reminded about the race on Friday and thought; what the heck, I’ll register.Beautiful morning, sunny clear, fresh and just a hint of a breeze. Got there a bit late; considering I live less than a mile from the start line, I don’t really have an excuse! Had to start from the back of the A pen and when gun went work quickly past the 55min pace group, 50min and 45 min group. 2.5k in I had the 40min in my sights about 80 metres ahead. Rather than continue at the pace I was going to catch them and possibly detonate, I figured I was in clear road and I could slowly reel them in over the next 5 k. That was the plan but it took till just before the 8km mark to muster the change into 5th gear, and then 6th gear in the final straight to pass the pacer. I did the final km at 3:37 /km pace! Seem to do well after some recovery time after Comrades and getting back into the shorter, faster stuff

Tamara Lilkas ran the Saratoga Springs Strong to Serve Half Marathon in Saratoga Springs, NY finishing in the time of 1:36:24 which placed her first Women Overall and 11th overall.

Although I didn’t get a PR in this race, I was still able to place first for women and 11th overall! I would have loved to push a little bit harder, but coming from getting injured at my last half in April-I’m happy with the race overall

Sergio Calvo ran the Correcaminos Half Marathon in San José, Costa Rica finishing in the time of 1:56:09 which was a PR!

SergioBeautiful race which travels the city of San José East to West, passing by some iconic places downtown. It marked my first half race and a landmark in my marathon preparation. Speed was the name of the game. I suffered Kms 17-20. I couldn’t hunt the 1:50 pacer as planned and the lack of its sight stole me some focus. The 1:55 pacer reached me. However I held onto them and did a pretty decent closure. I have several learned lessons. I am absolutely proud to finish my first half in under 2 hrs. Plus my good condition keeps surprising me. Despite the natural discomfort I feel solid after the race. Enough to be about to get out for today’s recovery! Thanks Team!

Siobhan Donegan ran the 33rd Annual Stowe 8 Miler in Stowe, Vermont finishing this distance in the time of 1:00:08 which was a PR given this was the first time running this distance.

SiobhanI finished at 1:00:08 and was 2nd in my age group. It was a fun course and now I am much more familiar with it. My plan is to do it all over again in 2015 and hopefully break that one-hour goal. I think I gave it a good shot for my first try, and learned a lot. A little cool weather and overcast skies for next year would be welcome!

Dean Morley raced the British London 10k in London, England coming across the finish line in the time of 39:52.

dean-morleyOdd start, in that no pace pens and ‘normal’ runners started behind 2000+ ‘Help for Heroes’ charity runners (running variable paces!), but given the occasion and charity, not something to complain about!Once past this initial bunch of runners, the run by St James’ Palace, Trafalgar Square, along the Thames embankment, past Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and finishing by the Cenotaph was great – with good crowd support too.
Oh, and my time, I did ok (Chip 39.52) – but think the initial weaving/ couple of tunnels, etc meant this was probably 30 secs to a minute slower than I could have done; so looking forward to my next 10k race next weekend 🙂

Brian Schmidt complete in the USCAA Championships in San Marcos, CA in the distances of 5k, mile & 800 finishing in the times of 16:554:53 & 2:18.

BrianThis was the last corporate track meet that will be held. It started with Runners World in the 70’s. I was running for Texas Instruments and we finished 2nd as a team in the larger corporation division (GE won). The 5k was on a cross country course with loose gravel and dirt which made it challenging. I finished 4th overall in 16:55 and just barely missed the highest wava score overall (5 highest wava scores are added on each team to determine the team winner). TI came out on top for this race. The next race was the men’s team mile (one open runner and one masters runner add the times). I finished 3rd overall in 4:53and beat the other teams masters runners by 25+ seconds. TI came out on top. The final race was a relay of 800m, 400m, 800m, 200m, 200m (all masters runners). I was on the lead leg and with 125m to go took the lead running 2:18. TI continued to push the pace and we came out on top again. A great weekend and a n even that will definitely be missed in the future.

Bill Leppert raced the Crazy 8’s 8K in Kingsport TN finishing in with a time of 32:43 which was a PR by 1 minute and 55 seconds.

Bill10 PM race with about 3000 runners and 7 to 10 elite runners. I won my age group last year with an almost 2 minute slower pace. I didn’t realize my main competition was in this race until after it was over. I beat him in a 5K about 2 months ago. He beat me in this race by almost a minute!!! He will be racing in the Bluegrass Half Marathon in 2.5 months so I gotta get faster 🙂
