Team RunnersConnects runs strong in chilly conditions bringing in 4PRs.

Sascha Fennel ran the Nice Carnival Run 10K in Nice, France coming across the finish line in the time of 46:30 which is a PR by 1 minutes and 30 seconds.

SaschaFBest race ever !!!!! Personal record by almost two minutes. I was able to run strongly all throughout the race. I wanted to PR so I started in the front crowd. With several thousand runners I did not want to take risks and I wanted to start off now slower than 4:50. Side effect : the first 4 kilometers lots of people passed me. After km 4 I was able to hang on to a runner with a good 4:40 speed. He looked strong and helped me to establish a good rhythm. To my surprise I passed him at km 7 and never sam him again until after the finish line. He must have stayed behind me afterwards. I stayed at the rhythm until the last km where I was able to pick it up by a bit. My total pride was to sprint the last 100m after a sharp turn and an almost full stop. I was able to study it before because it is literally two steps from ur home. On these last 100m I passed people who were 15-20m in front of me.  It feels so great that my race plan worked and I was able to follow it 100% : NEW PR for 10km ! NEW PR even for 5km !! And all this with a negative split 23:22 – 23:08 ! All goals achieved!  I love running. I am very competitive. So you know I am feeling outrageously great right now !

Brendan Crill ran the Rose Bowl half marathon 5K in Pasadena, CA finishing the race in the time of 17:13.

BrendanCrillI felt like I was overdue for a breakthrough race performance, but this exceeded my hopes by a lot! It wasn’t my all time 5K PR, but it is a age 40+ PR for me by more than a minute, and it is the second fastest 5K of my life. It was good enough for second place overall in the race. I’m very pleased to be able to race that well right in the middle of my marathon buildup with no tapering. It makes me even more motivated than ever to keep training hard.

Mike Sheridan ran the Bramley 20M in Bramley, UK completing this race distance in the time of 2:37:00 which is a PR by 2 minutes and 50 seconds.

A training run for London Marathon, April 26 2015. Time to try racing flats, gels and pacing……ran steady pace 8:04 to mile 14 then hard 5 miles to end mile 19 and ease down last mile.  Hard miles in 7:14; 7:12; 7:07; 7:15 and 6:56 to finish (variance due to undulating terrain over closing miles). Mission accomplished – the plan worked and I ran an unexpected PR.

Steve Meyer ran YMCA Valentine’s Heart Throb 5 Miler in Onalaska, WI finishing in the time of 46.26.

4 degrees F at race start with winds of 30-35 mph. First 1.75 miles had the wind at my back. The final 3.25 miles were either with a cross wind or running straight into the wind. A brutal race mentally but I improved over two minutes from my time on the same course in early January. It was just as cold then but not near as windy, so I consider this race a big win!

Rob Sklenar ran the Bandit 30K Trail Race in Simi Valley, CA finishing this race event in the time of 3:41:28.

RobSkFun day out on the trail at the Bandit 30K but it’s a brutal race on really rocky course. Temperatures hit the mid 80s during the race which features over 4000 ft of climbing. Despite no taper and having already run 62 miles this week I still managed to finish 25th overall and 10th in group 40-49.

Nancy Maynard ran the Bay Breeze Half Marathon in San Leandro, CA finishing in the time of 1:58:22 which is a PR by 1 minute and 53 seconds.

This is the first time I’ve ever officially come in under 2 hours for a half marathon. It was a flat race, but so was my previous best time, so I feel that I’m comparing apples to apples. It sure made me happy! Besides training (always most important!), I’m finally learning to use the race’s mile markers rather than my Garmin’s distance alerts to tell me how far I’ve run. In the past my watch has been as much as 0.1 miles off (shorter) than official distances, and that got confusing/depressing during the run. Accepting the fact that it’s the race director’s measurements that matter eliminated one source of uncertainty. Going by their distances definitely helped me with my pacing on Saturday. Kind a of weird detail, but it made a difference for me.

Joseph Bufano ran the Cupids Chase 5k in Syracuse NY finishing this race distance in the time of 23:52.

It was snowing, slippery, icy and 8 degrees. Don’t know why I put myself through it. Was disappointed with the conditions. Was hoping to be faster but the conditions wouldn’t allow it.

Beth Filla ran the Run the Line Half Marathon in Texarkana finishing this race event in the time of 1:48:47 which was PR of over a minute.

6th year running my hometown race. It was quite windy – especially for first 3 and last 3+ miles. But, felt great! Wasn’t completely spent or anything at end!
