Team RunnersConnects roars into March with 5PRs and strong tune-up racing around the world.

Russ Shupe ran the Hot Dash 10 Mile in Minneapolis, MN finishing this race in the time of 1:29:20 which is a PR by 19 minutes and 38 seconds.

RussSI decided to use this tuneup race as a fast finish long run. I really had no plans to do much more than run the first 6 miles at a quick but easy pace, practice my fueling strategy, and then see what I had left to finish strong. It must have been all that great RunnersConnect training because I settled very comfortably into my pace from last October’s marathon (around 9:10/mile) for the first part of the race. At mile 6 I felt so good I just decided to see what I could do and ran negative paces for the last 4 miles (the last mile was around my 5K pace). What made this one special for me was that I was able to run so well without really racing until the last 4 miles. A great boost to my confidence and trust in the training I have been receiving here at R/C!!

Sean Regan ran Hot Dash 10 Mile in Minneapolis, MN finishing this event in the time of 1:07:45 which is PR by 2 minutes and 10 seconds.

SeanReagenMN Hot Dash 10 mile race was a GREAT experience! It was a tune up race prior to next marathon in May. Goal was to PR by running 1st half of the race at 7 min mile pace (the avg mile pace in my last 10 mile PR), and then pick it up from there if I was feeling good. This race really started getting good around mile 4 when I struck up a conversation with another runner. Talking to him was the secret sauce for me in this one! Without realizing it, I was running very comfortably below 7 minute pace while in conversation from mile 4 through about mile 7. So I was at first surprised and then confident, as I knew my body I could maintain the pace. What a great feeling! In the end, everything went my way in this one. I ran a negative split, PR’d by 2:10, placed 33rd of about 1300 runners, and 3rd in my age group. To quote the sage Homer Simpson, “wo-HOO!”

Martin Marker ran the San Diego Half marathon in San Diego, CA coming across the finish line with a time of 1:25:01 which is a PR of 8 seconds.

MMarkerI wanted to keep a 1:25:09 PR that i set at the Holiday Half Marathon which has a ton of downhill. The SD half is all flat but a good uphill mile 8-9. I started out feelin ok but finally got into a good groove like mile 5. I crushed the hill then took off for the finish nice and strong. Super stoked I beat the down hill PR by 8 sec and was close to gettin into the twenty fours. Thanks RC!

Theresa Brennan ran her first 10 miler at the The Old Fashioned Ten miler in Foxboro, MA finishing this distance in the time of 1:31:01.

TheresaGood race put on by a local running club. Challenging course with rolling hills from miles 2-9. Felt so strong and again ran without my garmin – just went by breathing and feel. Was feeling good enough to pick up pace for the last two miles and finish fast (for me!) my half marathon pr in November was at a 9:40 pace. Today’s race was 9:06 ish. Feeling pretty happy with that and I really like running without my garmin. I always do much better when I just focus on how I feel.

Kristin Morales ran the Ahmanson 12k Trils in West Hills, CA finishing this race event in the time of 1:09:18 which is a PR by 8 minutes and 21 seconds.

KristenMoralesI increased my average pace 1:09 per mile from the trial run. Even though I did great, I feel there is room for improvement with better sleep and without the blisters, it was very warm.

Donna Ferguson ran the Ky Derby Festival Anthem 5K in Louisville, KY finishing in the time of 28:14.

Donna FerI’ve never run a 5K that felt so good. As an “endurance runner” I typically hate every step of this distance because I hate the feeling of pushing myself throughout but thanks to a good warm-up (prescribed by RC); I felt great and still had kick at the end. Accidentally stopped my Garmin part way through but ran by feel anyway, paying close attention to my breathing and had a great run. I elected to start with my family, a few who were walking their first 5K, and in hindsight, should have made my way toward the front as I spent much of the race zigzagging around walkers in a field of 5,458. The most congested 5K I’ve ever run yet the “best feeling” 5K I’ve ever run!! Finished a couple minutes after I’d have liked but still 12th of 164 age group finish, top 15% Gender finish & top 27% overall.. I’ll take it 🙂

Beth Filla ran the Fresh 15k in Tyler, Texas finishing this race distance in the time of 1:15:06 which a PR.

Very challenging course, especially at the end! But, it was a beautiful day, the race was well organized and it was a lot of fun!

Thanasis Kypraios ran the 20K Athens Health Race in Athens, Greece finishing this event in the time of 1 hour and 53 minutes.

thanasisIt’s one of my best races in Athens. Totally flat, near the seaside, in a season that the weather and the temperature encourage running. I couldn’t race it fast, but I couldn’t miss it either so I chose it for one of my long runs. It was very nice!

Anton Slesarev ran the Moscow Half marathon in Moscow finishing this race in the time of 1:49:30 which was a PR.

AntonSIt was a small local hf. I decide to run it as usual long run. First part was little bit faster then prescribed easy pace, but my friend made me to compete with him and I couldn’t resist to do it;) After 17km realized that could beat psycological barrier of 1:50, so I pushed and finished something like 1:49:30. Morever, after the race I didn’t feel too tired(usually after a race I am very tired). Actually, I didn’t train proper and missed many training last time so I am very happy to beat PR and that it happened so easy. I would like to mention that I run better than on the November race for which I prepared hard. So I thought I was sick in November or may be push too hard in the beginning(or both). This result improved my current moral state and I am ready to train hard.

Holly Enzler ran the RRCA Foggy Bottom 4 miler in Ferndale, CA coming across the finish line as the first female runner in the time of 27:14.

The cows running along the race.  Placing first female overall was special too.

Karen Scobie ran the Selfkantlaug 5k in Gangelt, Germany finishing in the time of 32:47.

KarenSFirst run after a 6 week break for a small Achilles tendon tear. Took it easy and enjoyed the gorgeous weather!

Richard Robertson ran the Reedy River Run 10K in Greenville SC coming across the finish line with a time of 1:07:05.

My first 10k in 6 years. I had been sick for a week and missed a full week of running…just getting back into the swing of things — and this race was HILLY…long, slow, brutal hills. I was just happy to finish it. The next day, I went out and had a great 8-mile run, so I’m back from my illness and feeling good. I’ve set a baseline for 10ks and can work to improve my time from here on out.

Randy Smith ran the Moonlight 10k in Lethbrige, Alberta finishing in the time of 52:58.

RandySmithThis race was special mostly because it was a last minute invite from a friend who flippantly asked if I wanted to run it. Instead of saying no because I hadn’t been training etc, I was able to just say sure and be confident that I would run fine and be able to have fun. I ended up sick the day of the race, but ran ok anyhow:-) It was a fun event and road trip with friends. That is ultimately what I want out of running and racing, to be in good enough shape to do fun things anytime they come up.

Juraj Matuska ran the Semimarathon de Paris (half marathon) in Paris, France finishing this race in the time of 2:25:40.

Nice weather, 43.500 runners. But my performance was poor. Better time than last year in Paris, but 9 min. after PR.

Alejandro Vallarino ran the ArchDaily 2015 10K in Mexico, D.F finishing in the time of 1:03:11.

AlejandroAMy return to the track!!! I run the Chicago Marathon 2013, well I have ran 9 marathons, 6 Chicago Marathon, 1 San Diego, 1 Vancouver, 1 Querétaro and my personal best is 3:42:07 in 2006 at Chicago. In 2013 a trained very focus and hard and conscious in order to break my personal best, actually my goal was 3:35:00, but I run very bad, very bad. I started very fast and burn out my legs so I finished in 3:50.Obviously I got a deeply depression so I stop running for 15 months. For all this tragedy (jajaja) this race has a meaning…… the meaning is I am back!!

Anna Novick ran the Nagoya Women’s Marathon in Nagoya, Japan finishing in the time of 3:01:51.
