Team RunnersConnect running strong in the heat bringing in 3PRs as well as age group awards.

Jeff Almeida ran the 32° Maratona De Porto Alegre Marathon in Porto Alegre, Brazil finishing this race in the time of 3:44:51 which is a PR of 2 minutes and 58 seconds.

jeffalmediaFantastic. I broke my world personal record. Thanks to this amazing team. The training and the strategy was perfect. I am very happy and my legs are destroyed. But every ache remembers me the epic race ran yesterday. The race was perfect. I didn’t stop during the race. I felt cramps on the last 4kms and had to slow down but I didn’t stop. Crushed my PR and my personal goal. Now.. I well focus on my fastest 21 and 10km to achieve a future faster Marathon, aiming a BQ. Thanks friends! This is my first marathon after returning from a injury.

George Boutsikas ran the 1st Volos city core 9.4K in Volos, Greece coming across the finish line in the time of 45:08 was is over a 6 minute PR.

GeorgeBI ran the ” 1st Volos city core” 10K race on Sunday aiming for a new PB (my previous being 51΄ ) . There was a 45 minutes delay at the start, which led to higher temperatures and humidity than expected. Not only this, but the course was designed along the city’s avenues with a lot of traffic instead of the coastal road with the sea breeze and with no water station in the middle. It has been a dramatic experience, as I was struggling against the heat and the cars. I tried to keep a steady pace throughout the race running mostly by feeling, but it was getting harder and harder. I finally hit a 45:08, felt great for a moment and then started to question myself for the accuracy of the distance. What a disappointment when I was informed that it was about 9400 meters. Nevertheless with my pace being at 4:48/km, I could have finished a complete 10K at 48 minutes, but that is a rhetorical question, isn’t it? Well, next time guys ! At least I enjoyed my first swim in the sea for this year after the race!

Ralph Caddell  ran the Wild Pig Chase Trail Run 5K in Belle Chasse, Louisiana finishing in the time of 31:28.

RaplhCThis was the first race of a three run trail series around New Orleans Louisiana. I had run this course once before when it was dry. It was wet on Saturday so it was very muddy and slippery. That combined with the heat and humidity made for a tough run. Had to walk a bit towards the end. Still managed to finish 3rd in age group (60-69) and 34th overall in a field of about 250.

Tony Malinauskas competed in the Savage Race which is an 6.4 mile obstacle race in Zanesfield, Ohio finishing in the time of 2:17:02 which secured him a place on the podium with a 3rd Age group award.

PODIUM! Got the bronze for being 3rd in my age division. As my first Savage Race, I was faced with several new obstacles I’d not seen before; it was fun problem-solving them (except I had to bow out on 1 after multiple tries). It was a major workout too; this race was at a ski resort, so we had to climb several VERY STEEP slopes on this course. I also survived a 6 foot fall off an obstacle flat onto my back. I’d not done that before, and don’t intend to again. Ouch

Sarah Ryan ran the Bellin Run 10K in Green Bay, WI finishing this race in the time of 50:10 which is a PR of 34 seconds.

This is a huge hometown race that attracts some big names and the course goes through my neighborhood. Lots of people come out and cheer and it’s a lot of fun. I ran it twice as a kid and never ran the entire thing. When I started running 2.5 years ago it was my first 10k and I set a goal of finishing under an hour. I did it and last year finished in 50:44. I was hoping to finish under 50 this year but I came pretty close. It was a lot of fun and I felt great although I wish I would have done a better job moderating my pace in the beginning. Getting high fives from three Packer players at mile four was really cool!

Sue Kennedy ran the Liverpool Rock and Roll Half marathon coming across the finish line in the time of 2:10.

I had been on target with my training, entering the race in a positive mindset. I felt really strong and took water at every station, I felt a little thirsty, at mile 10 I got cramp in my calf and had to slow down dramatically, I finally managed to finish and I think I lost a good five minutes at least.!

John Gardener ran the Swansea Half Marathon finishing this race event in the time of 1:36:52.

JohnGBest time this year! Mainly because the course was flat! It was a good day for running, with sunshine although there was a stiff breeze during the second half of the race. Naturally it was against me! I tried to shelter behind another runner. I was pleased with my time because it was close to the ‘predicted time’ and better than I expected. I had to drive 600 miles between Thursday and Saturday and another 63 miles on Sunday to get to the race. I had arrived 1hr and 15 mins early, walked 10 mins to Baggage Tents, but as usual there were not enough toilets and I queued 35 minutes to take my turn! 10 minutes left before the race. I finished 5th in the MV60+ category out of 51.
