Team RunnersConnect roars through spring with 19PRs and many first in the marathon at Boston and all around the world.

Karl-Olav Gravdal ran the Cracovia Marathon in Krakow coming across the finish line in the time of 3:12:36 which is 7 minute and 30 second PR.

KarlA great race in a great city. I improved my PR with 7,5 minutes (since May), but it still felt “easy”, thanks to a great training and race plan. I had an almost four minute negative split and finished at 271th place out of almost 4700 runners.

Corrie Rose  ran the Flying Pirate Half Marathon in Outer Banks, NC finishing this race distance in the time of 2:01 which was a 8 minute PR for the half marathon.

CorrieRoseThis was a double challenge. There was a First Flight 5K on Saturday and Flying Pirate Half Marathon on Sunday. The Wright Brothers Memorial was beautiful to run through. I had a PR by 8 minutes on my half marathon that I was so excited about. Was trying to come in under 2 hrs, however the last 3 miles were off road on a sandy, rocky trail and the last mile was up and down sandy, rocky hills that I was not prepared for. So I will get it next time!

Cristy Brewer ran the First Flight 5K and the Half Marathon both over the weekend in Outer Banks, NC finishing the 5K in the time of 28:25 which was a 6 minute PR and than ran the half marathon in the time of 2:05:00 which a PR by 5 minutes.

I did PR this race (5K) and even have a hurt IT Band. I even took a little easy to try to prevent hurting for 1/2 on Sunday. It was pretty humid as well this morning which made my time even better to me.  For the half marathon – this was a great race. I felt really good and my leg did great until mile 10-11. The hills at the end did a number on my IT Band and I had to walk up the hills and then I could run down. I was especially tickled at the amount of walking I did at the end to still beat my time by 5 min.

Jayne Nisbet ran the Derby 10km in Derby, United Kingdom finishing this race distance in the time of 40:49.

JayneNReally pleased with first ever race! It was my first ever 10km race since retiring from high jump in August 2014. Overcame a few obstacles in February which meant I had to rebuild and had targeted 41:30 and obliterated that :)Think I can push harder from the beginning! Feeling happy!! 2nd 5km 19:54

Barbara Ross ran the a 5K in Oak Island, NC finishing this race distance in the time of 34:57.

I didnt do as well as I had hoped….it was drizzling rain and high humidity. I went out too fast so had to walk part of last mile. It was truly a learning experience, however, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Just being around other runners was special, and am looking forward to my next race, a 10K in June.

Cheryl Shive ran the Xterra Seneca Creek 10k Trail run in Seneca Creek Park, Gaithersburg, MD finishing this race event in the time of 56:40.

First 10k and only started running 8 months ago and I placed first in my age category 🙂 My husband said this isn’t normal but I have run 3 races in my 8 months and won/placed in all three! (Two 5ks and this 10k)

John Gardener ran the Great Welsh Marathon in Llanelli, Wales, UK finishing this race with the time of 3:28:00 which is a PR by 2 minutes and 26 seconds.

JohnGThis was an Age Category PB for me as previous best in my age category was 3:30:26 at London in 2013. I have been faster in my Forties. My watch suddenly stopped working before the race, so I had to run by feel and by asking the marshalls for the time! I am sure I started too fast, but then settled down to a reasonable pace which I kept going until approximately 24miles when I know I slowed down. To what can I owe the improvement? The new Training Program? Concentrated Beetroot juice? Strong coffee just before the race? My hard work in keeping to the new Training Program? Take your pick!!

Bas van Delft ran the Greater Manchester Marathon in Manchester, UK finishing this race in the time of 3:00:41 which a PR of 27:21.

I tried to qualify for Boston this race, so I can make the trip to Boston next year and hopefully meet some of the coaches and people I know from RC. Having run a marathon once before, without training as seriously as I did this time, I knew what was going to be in store for me…but I didn’t. I ran a perfect race with a time of 2:59 or lower looming around the corner…but all of sudden…at 35K my legs wouldn’t turn anymore, without any warning sign. I’m trying to find out what happened, but nonetheless I managed to finish in 3:00:41. A splendid (UK original) time indeed and a BQ above all! Still extremely happy as I literally crushed my previous time and exhilarated my mom and dad who’ll be joining the trip to Boston next year (someone is going to have to watch out for the kids while I run and my wife is supplying me 😉 A special thanks to Coach Danny Fisher who made the 15 weeks of training a memorable road to a great result!

Stacy Thomas ran the Parkinson’s Disease Race 5K in Cottage Grove, WI coming across the finish line with a time of 23:38 which is a PR by 6 seconds.

It was great to run this in memory of my grandma who had Parkinson’s disease. Overall a great race!

Elton Tay ran the Hyde Park 10K in London, England coming across the finish line with a time of 45:16 which was a PR by 2 minutes and 34 seconds.

A big PR after trying for almost 2 years. Coincidentally, it was also on my wedding anniversary and having my wife supporting me at the race made it special.

John Craven ran the Carmel Marathon in Carmel, Indiana finishing in the time of 4:27:30.

Third marathon in 9 years. Chgo ’06 2:13 + 2:03= 4:16. (Good) NY ’11 1:53 + 2:22 (bad). For Carmel (2:00 + 2:27)goal was 4:10 but felt great with RC training, core work and hip strength so attempted 4:00 (better to try and fail than never try at all I reasoned). Ran a little faster than planned for start ( ran with 4:00 pacer, figured it was easier with a group) Stayed with her till mile 18. At 22 quads would not let me run. Cramping? Muscle Fatige? Everything else was good but quads. Was able to walk fine then ran last 1/2 mile. Was hot at end (75 degrees and humid) Quads still very sore day after. Could dehydration have played a role? Didnt urinate until about 3 hours after race despite drinking lots after race. Might have overcompensated after urinating 3 or 4 times in Chgo. All in all great learning experience and new goal is to run a sub 2:00 SECOND half. Sub4:00 maybe not realistic for me. Thanks for all the great coaching.

Becky Venter ran the RunAuckland 10km Fun Run in Te Atatu Peninsula, Auckland finishing in the time of 50:11.

BeckyVThis was just a fun outing for me … an opportunity to run in a different spot amongst other runners. While I was hoping to do better time-wise, I also did quite a challenging threshold run on Thursday, so I was still feeling tired from this. However, I really enjoyed running this event! I figure gaining experience running in a pack, calming pre-race nerves etc is never wasted.

Patrick Douglass ran the Schoharie 5k in Schoharie, NY finishing in the time of 23:53.

First race of the year, and a test of where I am compared to last year. I was happy with my time and looking forward to a great year

Jeff Almeida ran the 16ª Meia Marat. Intl. Corpore da Cidade de São Paulo in São Paulo – Brazil finishing this half marathon in the time of 1:49:13.

JeffAIt was my first half marathon after recovering from a injury. I know that there is a lot to improve. But I will kee p going. Thanks RC for the support.

BOSTON MARATHON RACE REPORTS

Tatyana Zicko ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming across the finish line in the time of 3:12:49 which was PR of 4:26.

TIt was a great race. It’s the first time I confidently started a race. The training made the difference. Having run 22 miles in training, the distance didn’t phase me. I was concerned about the pace, since I had spent the past three weeks nursing a minor tear in my hamstring that included a week off. Also, I lost faith in my Garmin as a pace monitor. I ran based on feel. Not the pace I thought was a 7:20, but what I felt was steady and comfortable. Turned out my average pace was a 7:21. Not bad being 1 second off. I felt great the entire race, so I thought I might be doing something wrong. Yet, I kept hearing Jeff saying to race on feel and I kept on going knowing I was running a good time. I thought of Jamie saying to start pushing at mile 20, so I was patient until I reached that point and then started trying harder. I didn’t really start until mile 23, since I wasn’t completely confident, but I have never started pushing before mile 25, so this was better than usual. I recalled running fast finishes and strides in training and knew I could endure 21 minutes of effort, so off I went. I had no discomfort while running (training on rolling hills really works), felt great when I finished, walked up the stairs when I got home and down this morning. My resting HR is even lower. Really thankful for the training and encouragement from Runners Connect. (I also thought of Jamie cheering me on from home every time I crossed one of the measurement spots and pushed a little bit more.)

Dominic Worsley ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 3:26:17.

DWorsleyThe whole Boston experience was amazing – such an incredible event, the support throughout was extremely noisy and enthusiastic despite the really atrocious weather. Anyway my plan sort of worked (I adjusted my goal to take into account the horrible headwind) held off in the first five, then gradually increased pace through to 16m and then the hills. I did manage to run up them all but Heartbreak Hill is aptly named … I managed to run it all but I think it soaked up the last of my reserves. Tried to push on the pace straight from the top – in hindsight a mistake, should have given myself at least a mile to recover before trying to up the pace… and just found my legs had nothing left to give. By that stage I was drenched and freezing and just couldn’t find the energy to lift it, so ended up trotting in and enjoying the noise – though I wish I could have run quicker – I was so cold! Stopped in Boylston to give my wife a hug – she had sp ent 4.5hrs waiting for me to appear!! All in all – incredible, I’m really satisfied and I’m definitely coming back!!

Michelle Hall ran the ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming the finish line with a finishing time of 3:56:59.

MichelleHallI went out too fast, recovered for fear of coach Jamie admonishing me and for fear of falling apart in the last 10K, fueled well, and then was able to put the hammer down for the last 10K for another BQ, with 4 pit stops and a stretching stop. My official time says I ran a 9:03, but my Garmin says I ran 26.55 and a 8:56. I have never had to make a pit stop in a marathon before, but on this day, due to the cold and wet, I made 4 pit stops and another 2-3 minute stop to stretch my hamstring. I am very happy with this run. I finished fast, strong, and healthy with another BQ time. Thank you coaches!

Wil Cantrell ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 2:59:13 which was a PR.

WilCIncredible experience running Boston for the first time and acheiving the goal of running a sub 3 marathon…Very sorry my schedule didn’t allow me to catch up with any of the RunnersConnect community in person during the weekend…Without the training plans, encouragement, and race advice of runners connect I don’t think sub 3 would have happened….btw, my splits were only 1 sec per mile different from the first to the second half of the marathon! Bam!! …Thanks everyone and especially our great coaches!

Samantha McMenamy ran her first marathon at the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming across the finish line in the time of 4:37:58.

SamMI did it! I would have loved to have a bit faster time, but I ran conservatively until the hills, not knowing how I would feel during or after. I never walked (although I stopped to hug my husband and a dear friend I never thought I would see in the crowd). I felt strong and great on the hills and I felt strong crossing the infamous finish line. Thanks RC and thanks Coach Jamie for helping me achieve a dream to run a marathon. And I loved meeting so many of you Saturday!

Emily Pilotte the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 3:48:09.

EmilyPI had a really great training segment but a terrible race week with a family emergency that left me very stressed and tired. Made the decision to run the day before the race after hearing my dad was doing better. I was feeling my quads from mile 2 on; something I’d never felt before. Because I live in Hopkinton, I have run the first couple miles many times, but the legs decided not to cooperate on race day. Decided to just keep with it and see how it panned out. It wasn’t pretty but was happy to be able to finish and am even happier to rest and recover easier knowing my dad is on the mend. Really cannot express how grateful I am for all the encouragement from all you RCers and coaches along the way. Simply stated, you’re the best.

Bill Leppert ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race event in the time of 3:21:41 which is a PR of 8 minutes.

BillStress Fracture in August had made me think I wouldn’t be able to run this race. The fracture took 12 weeks to heal enough for me to be able start running again. Training didn’t start until Mid December. The coaching, and encouragement that it could be done, was great! Just Making it to Boston after being a 2 pack a day smoker for over 30 years is a miracle to me. God is Good! And despite never really getting away from the crowd early in the race (maybe a bit too much diagonal running (26.6 miles); and the weather; with the excellent coaching I still PR’d!
Thanks again Coaches!

Debra Hexsel ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming across the finish line in the time of 3:49:38.

D HexelFinally, I get to do a race report!! So it’s long since I to dump three events this winter because of my SFX. By now everyone knows the less than favorable conditions we had to endure. It was about trusting your training and how bad you wanted it. While I didn’t PR I feel great about this run on so many levels. I feel like I matured as the baby runner I am and a now ready to really reach for what I want I started in my usual shorts and tank top and arm warmers and a run happy cap. It was soooo cold so I kept the thin trash bag on over all my strap on gear. I also wore a jacket the first two miles. Kept thinking I’d take the thin plastic off but it just hugged my body (thank you Vasaline) that it kept my body just the right temp. First time I have ever utilized water stations. Maturity point–I don’t think I need the 5000 pound hydration belt any more. Actually tossed two bottles. Ran by feel. I think that’s another maturity point. With the rain and old script on my running glasses I couldn’t read it. My RC training and coaching was 100% responsible for getting me through ANY conditions. And I didn’t break the promise to myself. No wimping on ANY hills. Especially those small ones as you approach Boston that seem huge.

Jane Fuller ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming across the finish line with a time of 3:44:39 which is a PR by 13 seconds.

JAneFullerWhat a race at Boston today! Winds were strong, rain was hard, temps were cold but the spirit of the race was palpable! An awesome race indeed! What an honour to be able to run it! Was great to meet some Runners Connect folks both Saturday and today! The program I followed with support from Coach Jamie carried me through! Ran under my goal pace of 3:45:00 by 21 seconds with a time of 3:44:39 which was also a PB by 13 seconds (and I ain’t young at 46)! The training my husband Bill and I did on Lopez Island, WA with the program we had to follow (from Runners Connect) was key to my performance – I have no doubt! I took the advice provided by RC and husband Bill and kept it conservative in the first half so I would have what I needed for the hills between 17 and 21 miles and some gas in the tank to go for it in the last 5.2! Thanks to RC for all, especially Bill, for the support and encouragement! It was inspirational!

Jonathan Tolksdorf ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming across the finish line with the time of 2:57:06.

JonathanTThe support from start to finish was unbelievable, I´ve never experienced anything like it. Thanks to a comment Vera once made I got myself a shirt with my name on it and boy did that do the trick – I´ve never heard my name as often on one day or probably even within a week as during those 26.2 miles. Another runner once said to me he wished his name were Jonathan as well.  Something else I won´t forget is meeting part of the RC gang: it was lots of fun to talk to so many of you in person! The result itself was not quite what I had hoped for but close enough. And just like I faded away towards the end, so will the memories of the struggle and the result. What will remain are the memories of a running event unlike anything I´ve ever experienced.

Shannon Lebeuf ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming across the finish line in the time 3:32:36 which was a PR of 2 minutes.

ShannonLWell, I can finally scratch the Boston Marathon off my bucket list! I was completely in awe to see so many amazing people standing out in the freezing temps and blowing rain, cheering their hearts out!. What a race! I was SO COLD and found the conditions tough indeed, but I managed a 2 minute PB at 3:32:36. At 45 years old, that qualifies me for New York! Super happy with that! Thank you Coaches and everyone for the program, advice and tips!

Guy Chalk ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming across the finish line in the time of 3:24:24 which was a PR by 21 seconds.

GuyChalkMy goal was to break 3:20 so I used Jeff’s Boston pace calculator to map out a goal time of 3:19:30. (Jeff, this was really helpful to know what to expect for each mile.) I really thought that it was a realistic goal based on the way I felt on long training runs and DC Half Marathon tune-up race results. Then, I saw the Boston weather forecast. The weather really got into my head and started to doubt that I would be able to execute the plan. The race was cold, wet, and windy. I didn’t break 3:20, but I did PR by 21 seconds. The whole weekend was pretty amazing. There were runners everywhere. It was great to meet up with other Runners Connect folks from all over the world! Even though the weather really sucked, the whole experience of doing the Boston Marathon was incredible! I’m starting to think about next year already.

Steve Troxel ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 3:30:00 which is a PR by 7 minutes and 37 seconds.

SteveTroxelI was really apprehensive going into the race. I had to keep thinking about my training to keep my mind from wallowing in the “I don’t think I can do this” mode. Then the weather made me realize I’m quite the weather wimp. I was really whining about the cold and the rain and the wind. I was so cold at the athletes village. But when the race finally started I just began executing the plan. I knew I would give up about a minute in the first 4 miles, which I did. Then I planned to slowly catch back up by mile 16, which I did. Then I knew I would lose some time through 5 miles of the Newton Hills – I lost 90 seconds. Then I planned to make up the lost time in the last 5 miles, which I did. My goal was to run a 3:30 and I ran 3:30:00. This was a 7:37 PR which I set in September. Absolutely could not have done this without the coaching of the RC staff and the encouragement from the community. I’m very pleased with today!!

Eric Nordquist ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 3:00.24 which is a PR by 4 minutes and 24 seconds.

First Boston Marathon. I was training for sub-3 hours and finished just 25 seconds off that goal, but the race was absolutely glorious. I was most proud of a) even splits in second half of marathon – up Newton Hills and b) I finished 2747 coming out of the 6th corral… I think that means I passed 2000+ runners!

Dick Correa ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 4:23:13 which was a course PR.

It was a PR for Boston (11) races. My overall PR was set in 1977 so that isn’t relevant to day. I ran 23 minutes faster than last year but I had been injured and my training was minimal so I ran and walked. My previous Boston PR was 4:26:35 in 2005. I ran pretty evenly throughout, even through the hills and didn’t bonk. If I didn’t stop to pee 3X and to talk to my family at 16, I might have close to my 4:20 goal. The training works.

Kathy Balme ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race distance in the time of 4:08:28.

KathyThis race was an incredible experience from start to finish. I had run one marathon before and managed to qualify for Boston, but on Monday, I was extremely nervous for a number of reasons: I had had a stress fracture in my foot all winter which impacted my training, so I wasn’t sure how I would do; I was also nervous because the weather predictions were not good, with rain supposed to be getting heavier and winds becoming stronger throughout the day. So, I had a plan to just run the run at an easy pace, and I hoped to finish in 4:15, maybe 4:30 if things weren’t going as well. But, as the run went on, I felt really pretty good, the rain wasn’t as bad as they predicted, and in fact, I don’t think it rained after about 10 or 12k, and the winds weren’t bad at all – I didn’t even really notice the wind much. Add to that, the Newton hills were surprisingly not bad either, a little long, but not steep. So, in the second half of the run, I did pick up the pace a little bit, and came in under my goal time, and managed to negative split by 2 minutes! The whole race was so awesome, lovely route, lots of cheering people, thousands of friendly volunteers helping out. Even strangers in the street later congratulating me as I walked back to my hotel with my jacket and Boston poncho on. It was all so amazing!!

Michael Iban ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 3:42:49.

MIbanStep into the Wayback Machine to April Fools Day 2012 when I walked into my doctor’s for a physical. I stepped onto the scale and was dismayed to see 213 lbs. That’s a lot for a 5’6″ guy who was 50 at the time. She told me I was a health risk and that I needed to lose weight. She said that if I didn’t do it for myself, I should do it for my son who was 8 at the time. So I took it to heart and improved the quality of my diet. I also started walking about a mile a day. Then in mid-May I upgraded my smartphone and a world of Apps opened up to me. I found the Couch-to-5K program that prepared me to run a 5K in nine weeks running three days a week. I completed the 5K and was ready for more. So I downloaded the next App: the 5K-to-10K program that picked up where the previous App left off and prepared me to run a 10K in nine weeks running three days a week. I completed the 10K and again was ready for more. So I found a decen t half marathon program, and trained for and ran my first Half in Dec 2012. Throughout this time I lost 80 lbs; and went from 31% body fat to 8% body fat. Since then, in 2013, I ran the LA Marathon, the California International Marathon, and two Tough Mudders (just for giggles). Then in mid-May 2014, two years after lacing up the sneakers for the first time, I BQ’ed at the Mountains2Beach Marathon in Ventura; not bad for a 52 year old former fat guy who was a health risk just two years prior. Now I’ve run Boston, which was an incredible experience; and one I will never forget. I will run Big Sur six days after Boston as part of the Boston to Big Sur Challenge (two coasts, two marathons, six days, blah, blah, blah). It would be great to run an ultramarathon some day, such as a 50K or 50 mile. For now, I am happy to have run Boston, I plan to run Boston for as many years that I can qualify.

Rebecca Schweitzer ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing in the time of 3:39:39.

COLDEST, wettest, most windy race I have ever ran. I loved it and can’t wait to go back!!!! Despite the awful weather (I lost feeling in my hands and feet from the cold around mile 18!), the fact that I was sick, and that I missed a month of training due to injury, I am pretty happy with my time. I will definitely never forget this race.

Jennifer Sheely ran the ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 3:28:51 which is a 1 minute PR.

js Despite the weather…felt great the entire way. Enjoyed the course and felt like I could take it in this year. great to meet so many other runners connect members this year again!

Bill LeDrew ran the ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 3:27:10.

BillLeDrewIt was a tough race for me and I missed my goal time by over 10 minutes. Placed 7th in the 65 – 69 age category (out of 408) so did relatively well. isappointed with the last 12 K pace. Some cramping and basically ran out of gas. Very very cold before start and after the race. Oh well, there’ll be another chance.

Rich Heinzman ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming across the finish line in the time of 2:59:15.

RichHLast year was my first Boston. So, I took it as an opportunity to relax and enjoy the race. This year, it was all business. I set out with a goal to go sub-3. Mission accomplished! Although it wasn’t a PR for me, I’m still pleased with the result given the conditions. My execution was stellar. According to my 5k splits, I was able to hold an average pace of 6:47-6:50 throughout the race. I thought my quads would have given out after Heartbreak Hill, but they were able to hold on all the way to Boylston. I’m glad I came back stronger this year and I look forward to crushing it again next year.

Kate Dochelli ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 3:07:57.

KAtieDThis race was downright miserable! I have never hated a race so much in my life. I’m so bummed and disappointed, too, because I feel like I wasn’t able to enjoy my first Boston experience… simply because of the stupid weather. I am such a fair weather runner, and the freezing cold, torrential downpour, and gusty winds just broke me down. I ran such a smart, controlled, race through the half-way point, even up through mile 16 or so, but eventually the frigid temperatures and my soaking wet clothing got to me – and in a big way. I felt strong powering up the Newton Hills, passing people left and right. But upon reaching the downhill portions of this part of the race, my quad muscles were screaming. Add that soreness to the misery of the conditions, and I was done. It was all I could do to keep going. While I wasn’t looking for a shiny new PR at Boston, I was hoping to have a great race experience all around. Sadly, I c an only look back on this race and think of how miserable I felt. My time is okay given the conditions (and the fact that I HATE running in the cold and DESPISE running in the cold rain) – I was hoping for something between a 3:05 and a3:10… but hoping for something a little bit closer to a 3:05. Oh well! I made it through the race and successfully crossed the finish line (though I should say that there were quite a few tears shed through the final six or so miles – I have pictures to prove it). I have never been more grateful to get inside and take a warm, hot shower. Ugh. What a day.

Vera Fajtova ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 3:53:10 which is a PR by 18 seconds.

This was an amazing race. I was skeptical, thinking that the weather would be better than last year for runner (it was hot last year!) but not for spectators. But they still turned up in the cold rain and wind. Thank you Boston! And Hopkington, Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley and Newton.  I decided from the start that I would enjoy this race and not worry too much about the time. I feel my training prepared me well, but was nervous about the headwinds. So I really tried to go out slow, and did manage a fairly even pace through out, except for the last hills (the Mass Pike overpass and the Mass Ave underpass were the worst!). In the end I did PR by 17 seconds.
Thank you RC community and coaches!

Buddy Gray ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming across the finish line with in the time of 3:23:55.

BuddyThis was my first Boston and it was really great and special! The training was tough this time around as I got sick twice and missed probably a couple of weeks worth of training. The winter was cold and tough as well. On race day Boston didint cut any of us any slack! It was cold, raining and tough head wind the whole way. So it made it really challenging but worth it. A real test of endurance!  Something else that really made it special was all the tremendous support I received from family, friends and those of you at RC in which I got the opportunity to finally meet some of you in Boston!  I can’t tell you how much I appreciated it! It really helped while I was running to think about that! Although I didn’t PR I did make a qualifying time again for next year! After considering the conditions I’m still pleased with my time even though I was hoping for a faster time. I really enjoyed the race and it is a memory I will carry with and keep close to me the rest of my life! Thanks RC!

Christina Campins-Schneider ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA coming across the finish line in the time of 3:47:19.

ChristinaCAWESOME! Cannot begin to express the thanks to Runner Connect for helping me get through injury during the training for Boston. I went with no expectations, enjoyed the entire experience. I went out hoping for a comfortable run. It rained the entire time, I rarely looked at my watch and I tried to hit every puddle in my way. Seriously….you really couldn’t miss the puddles if you tried. The hills….hmmm….not really sure what the big deal is! I loved every minute of it. So happy my hamstrings held out. Loved the fans and crowds who came out to cheer us on! I will write more later. Hope everyone else had a wonderful experience.

Jeffrey McLinden ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 3:44:34 which was PR.

J McLindenMy personal best! Was thinking I might do a little better based on my training but Boston is tough. Left calf started cramping around mile 21 which slowed me down. Calfs in tough shape (definite Calf strain) I did shave just over an hour off last year’s time and it’s only the second time I came in under 4:00.

Nancy Maynard ran the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing this race in the time of 4:14:44 which is a PR by 1 minutes 56 seconds.

This was my first Boston, and second marathon ever, so it was a huge thrill just to be included in the race. The volunteers and spectators were amazing — standing in the rain and wind for hours, and being universally helpful, friendly and supportive. I couldn’t believe the energy that the cheering and enthusiasm provided all along the course. The people of Boston have been through so much, and they’re thanking us for running??? Incredible!

Rachel Bohan ran her first marathon at the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA finishing in the time of 3:35:53.

RBohanThanks for my training for the Boston Marathon! I was able to finish yesterday with a 3:35:53! It was my first marathon and i’m proud that I finished this fast, despite all that horrible weather.
