Team RunnersConnect picking up stream with 6 PRs and 4 race debut is the half and full marathon.

Sean Regan ran the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis, MN coming across the finish line with a time  of 3:24:57 which a PR by 12 minutes.

seanTwin Cities was marathon #3 for me. It turned out to be a really good race. 3:24:57 was a PR by 12 minutes. And it was obvious to me during the race that my conditioning had significantly improved since running my 2nd marathon (Fargo) 5 months ago. Breathing was much easier, legs felt stronger, and self-awareness had matured. In Fargo, the wheels fell off completely at mile 19. But at TC I was able to stay close to target race pace until mile 23-24. I pushed the wall back, and feel great about that! Thanks RC coaches and team for your support.

Russ Shupe made his marathon debut at the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis, MN finishing this race distance in the time of 3;58.

RussThis was my first marathon so my goals were fairly modest, #1. Finish the race and #2 Do it in under 4 hours – Check and Check!! I have been running now for 18 months (after never having run at all in my life – hated it in gym class) starting with the CP25K app on the iPhone to now finishing my first marathon! I’m now 75 pounds lighter, more fit than I have ever been and I absolutely love running! During the race I felt great aerobically. Thanks to the great training program I received when I joined RunnersConnect.net; I was well prepared mentally and physically for the rigors of running through the difficult stretches in those last 10 kilometers.  I am also very proud of the support from all the people who turned out on a cold morning to support all of us runners. It was an amazing experience that I hope to do again sometime (just not this weekend:)) Thanks RC coaches and teammates for all the encouragement and support. I could not have accomplished this without you!!

Bob Murney ran the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis, MN completing this race distance in the time of 3:58:44 which was a PR by 7 minutes.

Beautiful day but a bit cool (36 degrees) — so intent on not going out too fast that I miscalculated my first three miles and ended up 2 minutes or so off my intended race goal after only 3 miles — frustrating — had a big energy drop in miles 17-19 and recovered — did not take anything but water for fear of stomach problems, but pretty sure I need to learn how to ingest gels or energy drinks – don’t think my conditioning was possibly ready for the goal of 3:55:00 and I’m now determined to get there — looking forward to my next week’s recovery workouts and how to start getting ready for the next marathon…thanks for all your help.

Rich Rein ran his first marathon at the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis, MN finishing in the time of 3:51:29.

RichReinThis race really and truly represents the culmination of a wild and crazy 9 months, something completely above and beyond anything I could have possibly imagined when I uttered the words “I want to run a marathon” last December (admittedly, I said them very quietly at first). For fear of unintentionally leaving anyone out who had a hand in this amazing journey, please understand as I speak in general terms – from those first few 30+ minute 5Ks last fall to running across the finish line in the shadows of the Capital building, so many of you have knowingly or unknowingly played a part that I literally felt the presence of each and every one of you, pushing me along to the finish. Coworkers encouraging me as I pinned a new bib to my cube wall after another race weekend, family coming along to cheer at races big and small, Ragnar teammates joining me in a whirlwind tour of Wisconsin and Minnesota, RC teammates and coaches following along as I trained and raced to prepare for this milestone, friends new and old offering late night advice and encouragement, sharing countless miles and finish lines with so many wonderful people which I have been blessed to have as a part of my life – this truly was a one in a lifetime experience…and I am not finished yet!

Gary Landsverk ran the Lakefront Marathon in Milwaukee finishing this race in the time of 3;47:15 which was a PR by 12 minutes.

Gary LI PR’d by 12 minutes today at the Lakefront Marathon in Milwaukee. I had a fairly conservative race plan, but felt pretty good early on so I adjusted during the race and ran pretty much negative splits. Thanks to Coach Jaime and RC for the help putting together a great race plan, and also for the awesome tools (hydration and other calculators). I had no cramping during the race or after, which is the first time ever. Thanks RC!

Carol Rhoades ran the St. George Marathon in St. George, Utah finishing this event in the time of 4:15:40.

Incredible views, especially entering Diamond Valley and Snow Canyon. The route descends about 2000 feet, but includes a good 2+ mile uphill, some rollers, and sweeping downhills into the canyons. It is a quad-killer for sure. I love the desert landscape and it doesn’t get any better than this. It has grown from a max of about 3000 people since I last ran this in 1996 to almost 8000 runners. It is very well organized.

Kara Schmidt ran the Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival 10k in Fayetteville, AR finishing this race in the time of 59:16 which is a PR of 5 minutes and 17 seconds.

karasThis was a new 5 minute PR for me in the 10k, which I don’t race very often. And it was on grass at the Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival at the University of Arkansas’ cross country course. It was my first time to break the 60 minute mark for a 10k and I wasn’t even really racing it at the advice of Coach Jamie.  The course was in much better shape this year. Last year it was covered in over a foot of water in spots and standing water and mud everywhere. So we didn’t complain about the dry conditions at all. It was about 40 degrees at the start which felt great for my Texas blood. Had a fantastic time made even more great by my husband taking overall master’s winner for the 5th straight year in the 10k and by my son racing in the elite boy’s 5k race in 17:27.

Kyle Bowman raced the Minster 10k in Minster, Ohio coming across the finish line in the time of 33.11 which is a PR by 14 seconds.

KyleI PR’ed so that is a positive. However, based off of training I thought I would finish a minute faster. It was just one of those days I guess.  It was quite windy so that had some effect.

Matthew Stewart raced the P.A.T.H. 5K in Kona finishing this race with a time of 19:04 which was a PR by 6 seconds.

MstewartI’m only two weeks since my last marathon so I’m still recovering and had no intentions on doing a race, but it’s not every day that I get an opportunity to run a race on Kona so I signed up. After a 10 ½ hour flight, and not a lot of food, my legs were a little depleted but I was happy with my time considering the heat and humidity. Although I have run faster on the track in practice for 5,000m this race was an improvement on my 5k road race time.

Terry Shen ran his first marathon at the Wineglass Marathon in Corning, NY finishing in the time of 3:51.35.

This is the first marathon I ran after signing up with Runners Connect. I needed 3:40 to qualify for Boston but fell short. The race course is relatively flat (not much hill).

Chris Rodger ran his first half marathon at the Hampton Rockfest Half marathon in Hampton, NH finishing this race in the time of 1:49:47.

ChrisRodgerThis is a well known area race along the NH seacoast sponsored by Smuttynose. My first ever half marathon… I have been working towards this distance since completing a 10k in April. Thanks to Runnersconnect I am convinced I did this in a much better time and without getting injured during training!

Erin Krubeck ran the Portland Marathon in Portland, OR finishing in the time of 6:01.

ErinKI sucked it up 🙁 I am really disappointed because I really felt like I was in shape. I had run every workout almost every single one within the pace range I should have. It was 93% humidity and warm so I ended up being completely soaked in sweat at mile 11 and had my hydration pack and had already drank about a liter of water, starting getting really naseous at mile 17, throwing up at mile 18– then even doing a walk jog became seemingly impossible. I walked the entire rest of the way and jogged across the finish. Could be totally TMI but peed before the race and didn’t again for 15 hours was down about 4lbs this morning. I’m so bummed I really thought I was going to have a different race…. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Cristi Mirica ran the Piatra Craiului Marathon in Brasov, Romania finishing this difficult techincal trail race in the time of 6 hours and 49 minutes.

CmPiatra Craiului Marathon is a difficult trail race with approx +2400m ascent and -2400m descent. It have a unique profile with three portions at the beginning, at the middle and at the end almost flat where you have to really run and two slopes ascent/descent with technical terrain. So you have to change the running style few times during this race. The maximal altitude during the race is ~1950m.Cristi Mirica ran the Piatra Craiului Marathon in Brasov, Romania finishing this difficult technical trail race in the time of 6 hours and 49 minutes.

Mary Stocker ran the Leavenworth Half Marathon in Leavenworth, WA finishing this race in the time of 2:05:21.

MarySThe 10th year of this race, I’ve only missed one year in that time. A nice race considering the month of September was not a nice month of training for me. Not a race or half-marathon pr but a good test of internal pace/effort since no gps like I’ve been used to having in training.

Tony Malinauskas competed in the Spartan Super which is a mud obstacle course about 10.5 miles in length in Cumberland, OH completing the event in the time of 2:51:36.

This was my first obstacle course race by Spartan. I was fairly sure my results would be horrible because almost all of miles 2 and 3 were on narrow forest trails and runners were jammed in single file with occasional stop-and-go. The weather was also challenging; we were wet from obstacles in water and mud, the temps were in the 40s, and we had sleet storms! The event organizers also had a surprise for us — the course was advertised as “8+ miles”, so I made my “last mile push” from mile 7, but the finish turned out to be around 10.5 miles! After all of that, I ended up coming in 4th in my age group.

Dean Morley raced the Thames Riverside Half in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey finishing in the time of 1:24:47.

dean-morleyInaugural River Thames Half Marathon. Good weather and event; flat course mixture of road and towpath. Finished in 20th place with a chip time of 1.24.47. Ave pace from Garmin 6.27 min/mile. Age graded 77.14% . Mixture of WWW (what went well) and EBIs (even better if);
sub 1.25, pacing constant with a quicker last mile, ankle niggle didn’t impede the run; this was a target race but 2 mins off Feb PB (London marathon tune-up, though the PB course was slightly better course – all road). Could have paced first mile better (bit too quick). Overall, I’m pleased with the sub 1.25, but (given this was my target race) disappointed not to have got closer to the PB.
