A great weekend for Team RunnersConnect as athletes record 4 Personal Bests

April Palmer ran the Chattanooga waterfront triathlon and finished with a time of 3:38:56.

This is always a challenging tri for me because I am a terrible swimmer and not a very strong cyclist. After getting passed in the swim and bike portion it was nice to pass people on the run. I ended up last place in the swim, near last on the bike, and sixth out of 27 in my age group on the run. The 10K portion I ran 1:02:42. It was slower than my last 10K but I did have a 1500 swim and 42K bike before and it was real hot during the run (90’s heat index).

Andy Porter ran the BAA 10k and finished this distance in the time of 44:36.

This race is awesome because of the elite field they attract! Cool to see some of the best in the world run.

Jørgen Grøndal ran the Romeriksåsen på langs and finished this race in the time of 08:09:15, which was a PR!

Brutally hard. Was back and forth whether I was attending this race or not. Decided on going. The terrain was super technical, and a lot of swamp and mud. Knee started acting up around half way through, but found a partner that was struggling, so we walked pretty much the final 17k. Glad I finished, now ready for recovery, vacation and thinking of other things. I have pretty much decided I am not going to do any more ultras this year, and I’ll go back to focusing on long term training and find some cool races next year! 🙂

Peter Mann ran the Victoria Park Loop 25k and finished in a time of 2:05:02.

Everything went to plan! Was really happy to be able to make a race plan and actually stick to it. A negative split race was what I was after and managed to do that (approx. 65min/60min) – Stoked!

Last 5km felt really strong and finished the race well. Conditions were perfect, a flat course, no wind, plenty of cloud cover and cool temps. Very happy with the race and have gained plenty of confidence.

Melissa Bieri ran the Charlevoix Marathon (10k) with a finishing time of 44:28.

This race was my first post-marathon back in October. Took 3 months off of running due to back injury so I was excited to be back in a race… Was a little disappointed with the results – I think I could have run smarter and faster, but ohhh well.. next time 🙂

Angie Bogner ran the Simply Women 5k, finishing this distance in the time of 22:11. This was a PR by 13 seconds.

I felt really good for the first 2 miles and , of course, hurt during the last mile. However, I was able to give a good kick. I remember my pleasant surprise when I saw the clock at the finish line!

Aaron Wagner ran the Santa Barbara 5k and finished with a time of 17:11, which was a PR!

This was my first real attempt at a timed 5k. I was very unsure about how I should feel through the different parts of the race. So I stayed slightly more conservative. I tend to go out too fast so I think that really helped a lot. I guess you could call it a PR but since it was my first 5k I am looking forward to crushing my time with the help of runners connect!

Kory Wnuk ran the Armadillo Dash Trail Run and finished this race event in the time of 26:13. This was a personal record by 6:37.

Last week was my first time racing a 3-mile trail race. The race this week was also a 3-mile race and the second in a series of three trail races. I significantly improved last week’s finishing time, but this week I did not have knee-deep water with which to contend. With that said, the Armadillo Dash Trail was a much more technical run from the perspective of a multitude of small (but steep) elevation and direction changes relative to last week’s trail. Additionally, it was a very hot morning. When in the shade of the woods, it felt as if the humidity was sealed in for my running pleasure.

While my average pace is not reflective of what I expect from a 5K road run, the level of effort I achieved was slightly greater than what I would have expected on the road. Overall I finished 25th out of 255 and got my butt handed to me in my age group where I finished 7th. Even as hot as it was, I had a great time.

Tim Warren ran the BAA 10K and completed this distance in the time of 51:06.

I got 6th place in my age group (M65-69) in the BAA 10K. 10,000 runners with 43 in my group. My time (51:06) beat my race goal (52:30) by 1+ minute. It fell short of my PR (49:54) at the same race last year by 1+ minute. All the data from my watch looks good. Cadence (180) and stride length (1.1m) right where they should be. Effort must have been at max, because my HR ave was 160 and HR max was 174. I have never seen them that high in any race at any distance.

Stacy Thomas ran the Madison Her Half Marathon and finished in a time of 1:52:10.

It was a tough race because it was very warm and humid. Overall slower than I wanted but happy given the weather and the hilly course.

William Herren ran the Fit Foodie 5K, finishing this distance in the time of 24:40.

Nathan Rauh-Bieri ran the Charlevoix Marathon and finished with a time of 3:09:18.

This was my first race in 8 months, and my first under RunnersConnect coaching. This course is flat and fast, and I was pumped to attempt a BQ here after a great training cycle and developing a solid race strategy.

The day was the warmest in the history of the event. The first 20 miles went great – my plan was working perfectly. Then I got laid up with cramping and saw the goals slip out of reach. After three walking mile, I was able to run the last three in, and had good family support at the finish.

I am disappointed yet thankful. It was a great training cycle and a good attempt, but so it is with the marathon. Thanks, RC, for the good support in the process.
