Team RunnersConnect runs strong and celebrates this season with 5 Personal Bests

Iris Belenson ran the California International Marathon and finished with a time of 4:45:34, which was a PR!

This was my first marathon and I was just glad to be able to finish! It was an incredible experience to be running with 14,000 other runners!

Brandon Tuss ran the Belk Bowl 5K, finishing this distance in the time of 22.02. This was a personal record by 3:12.

A primarily flat track and warm weather attributed to a PB for me. I shaved nearly 6:30 from last years time for the same race, which is so awesome and speaks to the training plan in place by the RC coaches! At the same time last year, I was strictly a 5K runner. It is great to see that I have expanded my race repertoire since then. To top it all off, I won my age group and was the 10th overall male in the field! Great way to end 2015!!!!

Dean Morley ran the Hove Parkrun 5k and finished with a time of 19.03.

First 5k tune-up race after a long lay off with an ankle injury – and whilst not a PB, still pleased with the time as only 30secs off my PB which was achieved when fully trained.

Erhan Sirin ran the 80th Great Atatürk Race and finished in a time of 47:28, which was a PR!

This race’s route was very difficult because of the downhill situation. Most of the participants are selected athletes whom I can not compare myself with. Thé race route was 10.800 meters. I finished it with 47.28 min and the avg pace of 4:24 min. I passed the 10K with 44:00 min. Many thanks to RC and running mates here for their support, encouragement, motivation and knowledge in all aspects of running. Without these I could not reach my PR in such a difficult race. I am very grateful to all being with me in a way that makes me strong to achieve this result.

Diane Souza ran the Nooseneck 18k and finished with a time of 1:56:40.

Considering an elevation gain of 870ft and being trail and road race I feel I ran extremely well and am happy with my results! Beautiful weather and beautiful race great training experience.

Luis Cifuentes ran the San Silvestre 10k and finished in 38:31, which was a 14 seconds PR!

10k tune up race. Legs felt kinda heavy and a bit tired since the very beginning. I knew it was gonna be tough so I decided to keep a constant pace maybe I could even run faster the second 5k I guess I were a bit conservative or I was just a bit frightened to give it all. The course was not hilly not flat either sort of a rolling coster (390 feet gain).

Stacey Bertsch ran the Run for the Ranch Marathon and finished with a time of 4:24:19, which was PR!

This was my first. I first tried training for a marathon 19 years ago. About three years ago I started running again, somewhat consistently, and have done 2 half marathons.

So how did the race go? I started out feeling fine and doing my best to keep my pace in check. At half way, I was right on my goal pace but feeling the fatigue setting in. The last 10 was pretty awful. Everything was hurting, and it felt like my stomach just shut down. I was drinking tailwind (I’ve used for 1.5 year with success), but it felt like even that wouldn’t go into my stomach. I took an electrolyte pill at 10 and again at about 20 with water and I had no muscle cramps so I guess that part of the plan worked. I did some walking during the last 10 here and there, but generally just tried to keep going, just very slowly. When I finally got to the finish, I was just incredibly glad it was over.

The good stuff: The weather was beautiful, topping out around 52 at the end and very sunny with light winds. Its a small, well organized and the volunteers were great! This was an 8 lap race and I had my husband and daughter there so I was able to see them often. My daughter felt so bad for me that she found some of my running clothes and shoes in the car, got changed, and ran the last lap with me. That was wonderful and I was so grateful to her! She’s such a sweetheart.

I thought I would feel this great accomplishment that so many talk about, but so far….no. I guess this would be a good time to have a different personality 🙂
