Team RunnersConnect runs strong in races around the world and brings in 9 Personal Bests

Steve Riddle ran the Santa Rosa Marathon with a finishing time of 3:11:44.

First starting line in 6 years so pleased to have successfully navigated the training and had a solid event. This despite the course being poorly marked which led to much of the front-end of the field running an extra .5 to .9 miles. All in all a solid program that led to a successful result.

Tom Van Ongeval ran the Dwars door Oetingen Half Marathon and finished with a time of 01:31:33.

This was my first real race since April. I had a (too) fast start and had to slow down after 2km, also because of a 3km hill. After the descent I found my tempo and my place in the race. The last lap I consolidated my place and didn’t push it anymore. Tempo went down less than 10 sec/km in last lap. I finished 10th (out of 56 finishers) and just missed the podium in my age category. Also happy I don’t feel any pain since February on my achilles after such huge effort. I stayed 7 minutes above PR as I expected given high temperature and 370m denivelation. Thanks to everyone who has supported me. I am happy and ready to continue preparation for Frankfurt marathon in October.

Meghan Weaver ran the New Hampshire 10 Miler and finished this distance in the time of 1:07:50. This was a PR by 2 minutes!

This is my second ever 10 mile race. My goal on that day was sub 1:08 given my past performances at other distance and I completely bit the dust on the second half. This past Saturday despite the fact that it was a hot day and a very hilly course, I was able to tough it out and keep a very even pace. At around the 5 mile mark I saw a woman who looked like she was going to surge ahead of me so I decided to stick with her as best as I could since she looked very strong. Unfortunately she passed me on the last gigantic hill at mile 9 but I stayed as strong as I could and had nothing left at the finish. This race had a very strong elite field given that it was the 10 mile championship for New England and I was glad to finish in the top 30 women/close to top 4% of women. I’m excited for my half marathon this October and look forward to what I can do when the weather is cooler, course is flatter and I’m actually tapered!

Belen Benitez ran the Ruta De Las Iglesias 10k and finished in a time of 1:21.

It is special because it is a challenge to run in one of the highest and chill city in the world, the first 5k is running up the hill. People cheering along the streets, fireworks, the colonial streets are narrow so imagine 12 thousand people running thru. People from all over the world comes..I flew from Guayaquil,ec with my friends on Friday, I really enjoyed myself, easy 10k, on the safe side, the downside, stomach ache probably of the “high-sickness” slow digestion, I felt better at 9k or changed my thoughts:) A great feeling of accomplishment, running wiser thanks to RC.

Geraldo Costa ran the Tawid Run, Bontoc and and finished this race in the time of 7:00.

It supposed to be only 22 Kilometers but because I got lost, I run and hike 32 Kilometers, in addition it was raining. Why was it special? Although it was really tough I felt strong and did not have any pain even after the run.

Luis Enriquez ran the Mexico City Marathon 5k and finished with a time of 1:39:17.

Marius Enescu ran the Bucharest Fox Trail Run Half Marathon race in Bucharest, Romania.

Local run. Mostly flat forest race, but with a narrow trail, which made it challenging the pass people by. Did not finish strong (as I planned to), but am still happy I ranked 13th in my category.

Robert Christensen ran the Snowball Express 5k and finished in a time of 29:30. This was a personal record by 1.5 Minutes.

My wife Susan was at the RC running camp this weekend (she had a blast BTW….hasn’t stopped talking about it since she got home) so I thought I’d find a 5k and see how hard I could push. It worked out great as this was the first time I’d ever finished a 5k under 30 minutes. (woot!) The run was quite emotional as well as it benefited Snowball Express which is an organization that helps out the children of service members we’ve lost.

James Dunnigan ran the 30K VanRace, finishing this distance in the time of 2:16:46. This was a new personal record by 15 minutes.

Great Race, I found a great guy and we paced each other for 20K and then picked it up for the last 10K. Negative splits and 13th overall. Thanks RC

Tim Warren ran the Blueberry Cove 13.1 Half Marathon and finished in 1:58:46.

I ran my favorite half marathon today, up in Tenants Harbor, Maine. I love the vibe of this race. Starts and finishes at a small seaside 4-H summer camp. They make their own bibs out of torn-up blue sheets, hand-made medals by a local potter. Big brunch spread after the race, featuring all things blueberry, of course. Beautiful scenic, hilly course with seaside vistas and harbors. And one lighthouse, the Marshall Point Light in Port Clyde, the lighthouse Forrest Gump runs to in the movie. The race is small, maybe 300 runners. I’m pretty sure I was the oldest entrant and finished 53rd overall. In the 60+ age group I was second. My official time was 1:58:46. That is about 5 minutes slower than I ran the same race last year. But I’m older this year, right?

Heather Scullen ran the Marie Wooten Memorial Race 10K in 50:02, which was a PR by 1:20.

A small PR for me. Was hoping to get under 50. Came close!…over 80 degrees when the race started and high humidity. Decent hills. Felt good about my effort. Ate some apple sauce and drank a UCAN pre race. That seemed to sit really well in my stomach and my energy was great. Just the sun and weather zapped me! Getting ready to start a marathon training cycle!

Scott Roach ran the Emerald City Half Marathon and finished the race event in the time of 2:09:05.

Not a PR, but more than a minute improvement over last year at the same race, and this years conditions were a lot worse. Red flag conditions at the start, 70+ degrees and over 95% humidity. Felt good for the first 11 miles, but fell apart the last two.

Kara Hourdas ran the Sea Dog 5k and finished with a time of 23:21.

This race starts a series that takes place every month and increases in distance and ends with a half marathon in November. Placed 2nd in age group today:). It was a very hot and humid morning in Florida, so I was happy with my time.

Rafael Diaz ran the Guatemala City Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:48:53. This was a personal record by 11 minutes.

Very special race in Guatemala. It is a most run for people that live in Central America. Very well organized. This is my second half marathon and I wanted to run below 1:50. It was very hot, but my legs felt strong and overall ok. Happy with this result, now with the help from coach Danny we will have a good result in Chicago.

Heather Joe ran the Ridge to Blazing Ridge race and finished with a time of 2:49:49, which was a PR by 7 minutes.

This was a fun race. All single track but about 10% very technical with alot of stones on the trails and climbs straight up and down. Felt good the whole time with the exception of some tummy issues. There is something about trail racing and the trail community that makes me so happy. This race was .7 miles longer than my last but I raced it 7 minutes faster. One day I can commit solely to trails and learn how to actually be fast. But this was awesome. It so peaceful and beautiful almost like meditation. Can’t wait to grow and push the envelope. Even the hot hot weather didn’t ruin this for me!!!!! These super slow times were for super steep climbs and descents. I was literally rock climbing!

Vanda Doyle ran the Old Wethersfield 5k/10k (5k) and finished this distance in the time of 29:33. This was a personal record by 1:40.

Wethersfield is one of the oldest towns in the US and the race winds past beautiful historic houses and gardens. After focusing on training for 4 months I was keen to how race form had changed. 82 degrees humid. Started toward the back and the first mile was getting through a lot of the mob. Still, this was good because it kept pace in check and turned out to be my goal pace for the first mile. Didn’t quite make the negative split although I felt like I was comfortably pushing faster for the whole race. A little disappointed with the last mile but still passing others for a change! Found extra in the run into the finish (yay!). Overall happy to have put in a solid race but would have liked 28ish. Still, 40secs/min off race pace is nice. 11th in age group. Top third in the Women.

Thanks Coach Michael for a great training plan and sound words of advice and encouragement. Thanks Coach Danny for picking me up in July when training seemed to fall apart and to Coaches Sarah and Jamie for your words of encouragement also.

Greg Bishop ran the Boulder Sunset Triathlon, Duathlon, 10K and finished in a time of 00:43:32. This was a PR by 00:01:12.

Having improved my 10K time by 00:01:12 to 43:32!! Hitting sub 42:30 now feels POSSIBLE for BOLDER BOULDER on Memorial Day of 2017!!

Rooney Kelly ran the BeanThereRanThat 10k and finished this race in the time of 58:08. This was a personal record by one minute and 13 seconds.

I am so happy about this one because it was a very hilly course and the last km was up Yarmouth’s steepest and longest hill. My neck has been a real problem lately and I have been feeling discouraged by it. NEVER give up, I say. Thank you soooooo much, RunnersConnect. You deserve a gold medal.

Aaron Sobel ran the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation 5K and finished with a time of 25:50.

Time was near my PR and, given it was run in humid conditions, think that’s alright. I went out faster in Mile 1 than I should have but was curious how I would hold up. Not as well as I thought I would but still pace was consistent with where I’ve been training in interval workouts. 4 more weeks to target 10K, so we’ll see what happens with more training under my feet.
