Team RunnersConnect racing strong across the world as athletes brings in 12 PRs this weekend

Ron Darin ran the Gulf Bank 642 Marathon and finished with a time of 3:57.

Second marathon in 27 days made this a challenge. I thought a PR was highly unlikely and I was correct. Ran a good first half in 1:43 but that was all I had. The goal become to just finish the race as temps were in the mid 70s from about 10 miles on. It’s the only race in Kuwait and attracts a nice crowd. Volunteers are wonderful and I am glad I ran it.

Rooney Kelly ran the Fall Festival Run Half Marathon and finished in a time of 2:13:17, which was a PR by 6 minutes!

I looked the times up posted today and it said my time was 2:13. I’m not sure what happened but the time on Saturday said 2:03:17. I kind of felt it was an unusually big jump in improvement for me especially after not running for so long. I was just so excited. However. I am still happy( and bummed) because I improved my time by six minutes from last year. And it was a beautiful trail course with 40 degree temperature and mild winds. This experience has made me more determined to work harder and reach that 2:03 time because it felt really good even if it wasn’t what I thought it was. This was a personal best for a half trail run.

Sascha Fennel ran the Cangrande Half Marathon and finished the race with a time of 1:39:33. This was a personal record by 4:56.

November 12, 1995 I ran my first marathon in New York. At the time I had no clue how to run a marathon but I was 31 years young and thanks to playing soccer I was in excellent shape. My half marathon time was 1:40:12. I finished in 3:54 so you have an idea how the second half went but this is not the story. The story is that 1:40:12 is my lifetime half marathon record. And I am still proud of it and the way I was able to run back then.

November 15, 2015 at 10:40 a.m. I looked at my watch and tears filled my eyes. 1:39:33. 20 years and 3 days later. 20 years and 3 days older. It is unreal ! Thank you, RunnersConnect coaches and co members, to have guided, advised and inspired me to be able to live these incredible emotions.

John Ranger ran the Bloated Goat race and finished with a time of 5:15:55, which was a PR!

This was, without doubt, the hardest race I have ever been involved in. 31km with +/- 1600m elevation in 30C+ heat with only one aid station at about half way. 99 starters, 69 finishers (60 inside the official cutoff)!

I finished 57th and was second oldest finisher. Thankfully there was lots of support (and shared pain) from other runners that got me to the finish line.

Shawn Stewart ran the East Texas Half Marathon, finishing this distance in the time of 1:51:52. This was a PR by 8 mins!

This was a tune up race for my full in Jan. I was trying to see where I was in my training regarding being able to run a BQ of at least 3:30.

I felt real good the whole race and was able to get faster down the stretch…..the 2nd half of the race was a great deal faster than the 1st so that tells me that i had the strength and endurance down the stretch. All in all a good run that tells me a great deal about where I am in my training.

Beth Filla ran the East Texas Half-Marathon and finished in a time of 1:52:14.

Got first in my age group!! While the course was billed as “fairly flat and fast,” there were some good hills sprinkled throughout. Was hoping to hit 1:50, but felt good with the 1:52.

Leslie May ran the Hermann Park Conservancy Run in the Park 5k and finished with a time of 23:55.9, which was a PR!

Great weather, pleasant space especially the footing (crushed gravel). Went out a bit faster than I should have, trying to hit 7:30/mi throughout, probably too ambitious. Overall the times were within a few seconds of each other by mile, though.

Marco Abreu ran the Michelob Ultra 13.1 Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:00:39.

I had not seriously trained for a race in years. When I joined RC I had 44 days to train for this race. My finishing time ended up being 58 seconds slower than my PR a couple years ago. THAT’S AWESOME!!!! It took me 44 days to get back in the shape I was in 2 years ago. It still blows my mind.

Christopher Jones ran the Hannover Re 10k and finished the distance in the time of 44.41.

It was a training run and it went well.

Paulo Correia ran the Curitiba Marathon and finished this race event in the time of 4:28:10. This was a massive PR by 25 minutes!

Run a marathon is a great experience and the hills I found in Curitiba (Brazil) taught me some lessons. I improved 25 minutes considering my last result in Rio (July, 2015) running at the most difficult Brazilian marathon. Everything went well until the third hour when I lost my legs: little muscle power contrasted with no aerobic problem. I struggled to run the last 90 minutes through ups and downs… but I got it! I thank RC coaches for the guidance and all members for sharing positive comments. This is a great community of runners.

Courteney Schinbeckler ran the Rock and Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:18:37, which was a 2:10 PR!

I ran the first 9 miles of the race with my fastest per mile times ever. At mile 10 I was running into a 40 mile an hour head wind that stayed with me to the finish, but I plowed through and managed to pass a few people that last mile :). This race and training program have given me confidence that I will be able to finish and set a new PR for my full in January!

Erhan Sirin ran the Vodafone 37. Istanbul Marathon and finished this race in the time of 1:11:17. This was a personal record by 12 minutes!

Last year I did 83min. This year was 71min. The race is always very crowded. To be able to find the way and then keep pacing as planned is very critical. I also finished the last kms much easier than last year ( 2014: 6.00min/km this year around 5.00). Good improvement. Now I have also runnersconnect and hope 2016 is going to be the best year.

Karen Hulbert ran the Nashville Marathon, Half & 5K and finished in a time of 24:31, which was a 34 seconds PR!

I wanted to run a race on my 60th birthday which was 11/14 so planned to go to Nashville since we’ve never been there. They had the Nashville marathon, half & 5K going on so I signed up for the 5K. My speed workouts were pretty tough coming off of marathon training but stuck with it. I figured if I came in around 26-27 minutes, I would be happy. It was perfect weather Saturday morning, 40s and sunny. Before now, I never knew how to run hills to my advantage but kept pushing the last half and ended up passing a lot of runners. I came in at 24:31 (8:19, 8:02, 7:30) and got a PR by 34 seconds. Afterwards I was looking at the results and found out I came in 2nd place in the Masters Division (40+). I was 11th out of 255 in gender place even though I was the 8th oldest female and 31st out of 362 overall. Couldn’t have done it without the RC community, the coaches and my training plan. Never had so much fun running a 5K and had a blast in Nashville on my birthday.

Ralph Pillinger ran the Fort Lauderdale 13.1 Half Marathon and finished with a time of 2:34:04.

Ran it as a relay with my fiancé. I ran the 1st 7 miles (post New York marathon) and then I paced my fiancé to around 9:45 pace for a nice recovery as I ran 7:39 average 1st 7. Fun time with a lot of friends.

Kory Wnuk ran the Heart & Soles Half Marathon 10K and finished with a time of 50:22, which was a PR!

This is the first time I raced this distance. I was able to compete with Ralph Caddell in this race, which was a quarter-marathon (6.55 miles). We finished first in the half-marathon relay. The total time was 1:42:02, even after the time required to swap the race bib. I have never raced this distance, with my time contributing to a 7:38 min/mile pace for 10K.

Tom McCray ran the Delaware Canal Half Marathon and finished in a time of 1:40:42. This was a personal record by 4:36.

After running a PR in my goal marathon race last month, I signed up for a small local half with the hope that I could recover well enough to accomplish a longtime goal of a 1:40 half. After only 2 workouts near race pace and a lot of easy runs I wasn’t very confident, so I decided on a race plan for 1:42. The race was an out & back course, at the turn around I was at 54:22 and behind schedule. I didn’t panic because I knew I had energy in the bank; I treated the second half like a cut-down workout and came back to the start/finish in 46:20 with my new 1:40:42 Half PR 🙂

Ricardo Gomes ran the Maratona do Porto Marathon and finished with a time of 4:18:00, which was a PR!
