Team RunnersConnect closes down July and brings in August with several PRs and Age Group awards

Scott Roach ran the Bull Run 10k and finished with a time of 55:36.

About a minute slower than my PR at this distance, but it was a good race. Hot and humid, and a few hills that snuck up on me. Paced well the first couple of miles, but got too aggressive in the middle miles.

Ryan Pyle ran the Tigertown 5000 5k and finished in a time of 17:03, which was a PR by 37 seconds!

Before this race, I didn’t believe that I had a fast 5k in me. My 5k times have always been substandard to my 10k, half marathon and marathon times. But I trusted Sarah’s coaching, did everything she told me to do (including ice baths) and I did it! I wasn’t looking at my watch much during the race, and as I hit the 3 mile mark I could see the finish line. I couldn’t believe my eyes that the clock still read 16:xx! That gave me an extra boost to throw it into that final gear and give it everything I had through the finish. This was the first race in a long time where I exceeded my expectations.

CJ Kittos ran the Roseville Chase Fun Run 5k and finished this distance in the time of 25:14.

I finished 1st in my age category in the hilliest, steepest race in Sydney I was 3 seconds behind my time at the same race last year. Due to just being so tired (heart racing at max rate), I had to stop on the last big hill at 4km and take a short walk.

Stacy Thomas ran the St. Dennis Festival 5K and completed this race event in the time of 23:33.

It’s a deceivingly tough race because it starts downhill and then has rolling hills for the 2nd and 3rd miles and it finishes uphill. And it’s a small race that isn’t “chip-timed” so it’s easy to get sucked into running too fast to start. I ran a great 1st mile. I hung with a couple other ladies in my age group for mile 1 and then we hit the rolling hills in mile 2 and mile 3. I was 3 seconds slower than a course PR, but I held on for 2nd place in my age/gender group.

Christine Sandvik ran the Great Valley Raptor Run 10 Miles and finished in 1:37:48.

This was my first time running this trail race. I went into it just looking for a solid workout and had a great time out there! Beautiful trails with some solid hills, and ended up 3rd overall/1st in my AG.

Eugene Raymond ran the Summerfest 10K and finished this race with a time of 00:55:22. This was a personal record by 15 seconds.

This was my second and goal 10k. It rained the whole race, I loved it!!! It was a PR by 15 seconds and I was wicked surprised it was a PR. I’ve never run this many hills before, though I should have known as the logo for the race is “It’s one hill of a race”!!! The training paid off!!!

Slawomir Wojcik ran the Craft Brew Race 5k and finished with a time of 19:08. This was a new personal record by 0:49.

My first race after joining RunnersConnect and a big PR! It was my second 5k and the first one was 7 months ago. The speed workouts definitely made a huge difference and most importantly I did it while recovering from my IT band injury so the strength training was really helpful. Thanks to the coaches and other members for their support so far! It was also a third place overall but I have to be honest – it wasn’t the most competitive 5k you can imagine 🙂

Looking forward to making further improvements on my next races on longer distances!
