Team RunnersConnect runs strong around the world as team members brings in 8 Personal Bests

Sherri Ramirez ran the Dallas Marathon and finished with a time of 6:31:45.

First full marathon. My first half was Nov. 2014. I did 2 more halves and then decided to try out a full. Super duper slow, but I did it and may do it again!

Michael Tooley ran the Kiawah Marathon and finished with a time of 2:38:27, which was a 30 seconds PR!

It was a good day to race. I was a little concerned about the temps and nervous going in, but I nailed my hydration and nutrition and jumped in with 3 guys from very early on. I quickly separated the half people from the full group so I wouldn’t be surprised at 11 miles in. The two guys I was with both told me 10 miles in that it was their first race and they were both younger guys… After hearing this, I slowed my pace just a tad and decided to fall into my own race. At mile 16, one of them started to fade and at 18, the other one faded… I stuck on my pace and actually felt very comfortable. I was able to run the last mile and a half at a 5:46 and a 5:35, so clearly the fast finish workouts worked well in my favor!!!

Thank you again for all the help and guidance building up for this!!! I definitely know am a believer and look forward to building for my next race!!!

Kenn Walker ran the Locomotive Half Marathon and finished in 1:38:02. This was a personal record by 4 Minutes!

This was my first road half, my previous road half PR was 1:42 in my 1st marathon on 10/31. This course was lots of fun, nice rolling hills–gradual ups and some long fast downs. I was a little slower than i had hoped but I’m quite satisfied with my result. I stuck with my race plan as far as paces and it worked out pretty much as desired. Of course I’ve got room to improve in the last 5K–focus on being able to pick up the pace at the end of the race in my training.

Kim Rankin ran the Florida Holiday Halfathon and finished in a time of 3:29:4.

The race was special in a couple ways . Although I felt like I was well prepared and even ready to handle the never ending Florida heatwave , I discovered what it was like to have something happen and think I might not be able to finish this race. Looking back I believe I may have done something to my IT band in the last month . It was nagging but not awful. Yesterday I was really happy with the first half of my run. Ran my planned slower pace because of the weather. But maybe it was the crowned roads or the heat but by mile 8-9 the pain started on my left hip/leg. The left side is the area of my body completely paralyzed by my stroke. My rehab worked wonders but it is still weaker than my right side. Yesterday, I had to do things I had never done in a race, stop and stretch and even stop and sit. With less than a half mile to go I questioned if I could make it to the finish. Somehow I did and even painfully jogged across the finish line. Got my medal and water and headed straight to the massage table (another post race first).

Karen Hulbert ran the Jingle Bell 5K and finished the distance in the time of 24:54.

I went out a little too fast for the 1st mile (7:47) but corrected it for the 2nd & 3rd mile (maybe a little too much – 8:15 & 8:14) but last. It wasn’t a 5K PR but was a course PR by 11 seconds from last year. Placed 1st in AG and 13/182 females while being the 7th oldest female. A very well run race that supports the arthritis foundation.

Laurie Householder ran the Kiawah Island Marathon and finished in a time of 3:54:03.

Kiawah put on a beautiful well-organized race (and it is flat!) and I would recommend it to anyone! However, I knew by 6 miles in that I needed to adjust my 3:30ish goal. I thought I would aim for 3:35, but by 12 miles I was already re-negotiating that in my head. I slogged through a run/ walk for the final 8 miles. Fueling and hydration were perfect and my legs felt sharp, but I felt tired on a cellular level. Since I missed my November goal race due to illness, this race became my plan B, but the extra 5 weeks of training really did me in… Dug me too deep into the well (a feeling I know well from a previous season of trying to bounce back after 2 short-spaced marathons). You know you are a runner when you start planning your next race when your legs are still sore! Despite the disappointing time, I have never felt more prepared than through RC’s plan this season and I am proud to have completed my 5th 26.2!

Lisa Patel ran Reindeer Run 10k with a finishing time of 1:02:44, which was a PR by 11 seconds!

Feeling stronger and more able to maintain speed for longer distances. This was a hot day for December and even was over heated in a tank. My cadence has been gradually improving and was good for this race. I feel I am better able to put the pieces of running together and looking forward to improving even more in the next race.

Brant Wheeler ran the Rocket City Marathon in 3:21:33. This was a personal record by 2:41.

I PR’ed at this race last year without a lot of training and was hoping to come back this year and blow my prior PR away. This year was much warmer than usual, mid 60s at the start and a high in the mid 70s. I ran a solid 3:10:00 pace for the first 17 miles. About mile 18 I started to run out of gas. I think there were only three of us left in the group at this point. I kept going on my own but really struggled after mile 21. I walked three times, something I have never done in a race before. In the end, I was disappointed to be so far off where I wanted to be, but I did PR. Out of the eight other runners I knew running the race only two other runners PR’ed and most were way over their time from last year. I think the heat had a lot to do with it, but probably wasn’t everything.

Jeff Wettig ran the Reindeer Run 10K and finished in a time of 55:46.

One of our favorite 10k races in the Dayton area GEM City Series of races. Fairly small and always a good time. Didn’t PR, but all things considered was happy with my run.

David Hendrix ran the Christmas Lights 5k and finished with a time of 21:01. This was a PR by 0:21.

Legs didn’t seem quite awake for at least the first half mile, but my breathing was feeling quite good and I was under a 7:00 pace. After mile one, my foot felt ok so I figured I may as well race the rest. I knew mile 1 was slightly fast, so I backed off a few seconds for some energy conservation during mile 2. Nearing the end, I looked down at my watch at about 20:20 and thought that my hopes of a PR were out the window, but then I noticed there was only one turn left and the finish line was a lot closer than I thought. At that point I knew I could get a PR if I hit the gas pedal. I passed the gal who had just passed me earlier and tried to shout some encouragement to her to race it to the end. We chatted afterwards and appreciated each others effort. A number of the early finishers were still near the finish line congratulating each other for the effort. Super fun finish.

Of course, I would’ve like to finish under 21:00, but it was a 21 second PR, and I finished 19th overall out of 489. This was race #25 of the year for me. One more full marathon next week. 26 miles for race 26 to finish off 2015!

Dennis Moore ran the Candy Cane Course 5K, finishing this distance in the time of 23:01.

Not a PR, but somehow managed to place 2nd in my old dude division. I enjoyed this 5K training cycle, but ready to get focused on another spring marathon.

Beth Lynch ran the Learning 5k and finished with a time of 29:25, which was a PR by over a minute!

Sascha Fennel ran the U Giru de Natale 10k and finished this race event in the time of 45:46. This was a personal record by 44 seconds!

Perfect streak 10 for 10. 10 races, 10 PRs in 2016. Exactly one year ago in the same race I beat 50 minutes for the first time doing 48:17 which seemed outrageous at the time, especially as this race has two major hills. Today it has been a tough race once again. Coming off a flu I did not feel my best. And while I was walking up (!!!) the hill to the palace for almost two minutes on the fourth kilometer I did not believe I would be able to beat my current PR of 46:30 from a flat race in February or my 10km time from last weeks half marathon at 46:09. At this time I strongly reflected on quitting the race. But, surprise, surprise, not only have I been much faster than last year, I also succeeded a new PR in 45:46. I certainly could not have run better today.

2015 has been quite a year for me in running. I could not be happier about my improvement in all distances from 10km to marathon. Again big thanks to everyone on RunnersConnect. Without the support of the coaches Jamie, Sarah and Danny and every member this would not have been possible.

John Pomales ran the Standard Chartered Marathon and finished with a time of 5:29, which was a PR!

This was my first marathon. I wanted to complete a marathon this year and most importantly injury free. I’m happy that I was able to achieve both goals. I didn’t have any running background. I started “training” for this marathon 4 months ago. I learned about runners connect in October and signed up for a training. I ran the first 20 miles feeling well and the last 6 were challenging but the training definitely help me to finish the race.
